This is incredible!

Even as a Kroger Kid I’m pumped for this!

I'm glad you like it.

That roof texture is hideus, sorry. Looks like Fred Flintstone barfed.

No need to be sorry. You're constructive criticism is welcome, though I'm not sure I understand how a fictional character's vomit would look like a roof.... :D

Anyways I know roof textures are sadly my weak spot.  There's just not a lot of great ones to work with it seems. That being said, I can change the roof texture.

And @mattb325, that is a pretty impressive BAT and landscape surrounding it. That movie is likely before my time.

Perhaps this will assist.

This is the roof texture Maxis uses. Myself, Simgoober, Gascooker....we have all used this countless times.

This image, as supplied by Maxis, is a 256x256, so you will need to copy and paste it many times in photoshop (or similar) for a large roof area like your current project. Additionally, I would also use dodge and burn functions to simulate random areas of water staining, grime, and so on.

Then lastly, while in gmax I would take a picture in the top viewport (with the textures, rather than the wireframe displayed) and then use that to create darker areas around the edges in photoshop (or similar) and paste that back as your final texture. You will then have the best roof textures in the business, guaranteed.

Wow. This is great. Thank you! I'll have to play around with this texture tomorrow.

Now to figure out how to simulate those various grimy areas..... does Paint have these functions? Not really familiar with photoshop. The rest of what you said I understand. :D

I've never actually used paint, so I can't say. The one on my PC certainly seems to do only the most basic functions. I would download the GIMP. It is powerful and free. https://www.gimp.org/  It also has heaps tutorials and videos.

Certainly, when batting, you will always hit a wall if you only rely on found textures. Making textures (or manipulating found textures) is a crucial piece of modelling for SC4.

That's the texture I use as a basis for my roofs too. It works very well and with  a bit of editing can have many different looks.

There was a post Jasoncw made that explained some weathering effects and dirtiness effects you can make to make it seem more realistic. Unfortunately I can't find it right now. But basically you used a black bush to do the contours of walls and most big solid objects, then change that layer opacity and/or blending option to make it seem diffuse etc.

You've been blessed by great BATter of the mountains! And sorry if I sounded little harsh, I'm not that good giving advice like matt or other senior member. I can give you my roof textures if you want.

@reg, yes it will be released very soon once testing is finished. *:)

On the BAT request thread, an image was posted of the Vandamm House from Alfred Hitchcock's classic North by Northwest. No such building actually exists in real life (the movie just uses a few painted scenes to depict this Frank Lloyd Wright inspired modernist cantilevered classic), but it was still fun to make an 'inspired by'.

I have modded it to have the benefits of the mayor house but no need for power or road, and also you can MMP right up to it after you have placed it on the side of the hill.

I must be out of my mind. since what kind of newbie as me would want to beef up the missed part of the tutorial of BAT.*:???:part 1 And that is precisely what I'm doing. I thought that's just the magic of that article gave me the passion. Anyways, I'm just doing it with the help of kind and nice friends, @Cyclone Boom Thank you very much, Inspiring by great people here, I want to contribute even I'm weak.

Düsseldorf-Benrath waterworks. 9x2
Created from photos and Google Earth.

In 1963, the WSW supervisory board made the decision to build a completely new processing plant in Benrath. An ozone contact filtration and activated carbon treatment should significantly improve the drinking water quality. The Mayor of Wuppertal, Hermann Herberts, officially inaugurated the plant on December 18, 1967.

To date, the water there has passed through three stages. The first odors and flavors are removed during spraying and the water is enriched with oxygen. The subsequent ozone contact filtration is used, among other things, to remove iron and manganese compounds and other substances. Finally, other substances such as ammonia are absorbed with activated carbon.

This is just a medium test render to see if everything is right and fits

Call it what you want. It's not my style, but that of the architect who built or designed it.....*:8)

Fourteen foot bank lighthouse 2x2

The structure is located in Delaware Bay near Bowers Beach in Kent County, Delaware, at the southern tip of the Joe Flogger Shoal. The structure is embedded in the sea floor of the North Atlantic. The beacon is located about 18 km from the coast; therefore it is not visible to the naked eye from land.

Today there are rescue units on the platform instead of the boats. I found it more beautiful, like before, with lifeboats.
