Having MEGA fun building Midtown Manhattan!

 

1.

I managed to widen Manhattan Island a bit more, thus I can create a thin sliver of Hell's District. I also love placing the occasional city park in the middle of the city blocks and the skyscrapers!

 

2.

This highway will be considerably busier once I start building on the west side of the city tile. I also managed to cram in as much as was humanly possible!

This one's a beauty- a view of the city blocks immediately south of Madison Square Garden.

And -- for I'm feeling generous -- the angled building (De Admirant), in creamy grey, is one of paulvmontfort's creations, it even comes with an fractionally angled transit-enabled driveway!

Here are some photos of recent progress in my rebuild of the southwestern portion of Vancouver's Downtown Peninsula.
One of the bigger changes was the extension of Pacific Boulevard past the Burrard Bridge (diagonal bridge) and down to the waterfront connecting to Beach Avenue.  This extension means that Vancouver motorists can travel from the city's boundary in the far east all the way through and around downtown ending at Stanley Park.  The route starts at the city boundary along Hastings Avenue which changes over to Pacific Boulevard at Main Street in Downtown Vancouver, then past the Burrard Bridge entrance it changes to Beach Avenue and runs up and into Stanley Park, eventually connecting with 99 Highway leading to the mountains.  It is at least 4 lanes for its entirety, with much of the route consisting of several different streetcar lines and the Pacific Boulevard section also carrying part of the subway system.


Haven't decided what I'm going to do with the empty space around the bridge.  I'd like to do a park, but don't really have any good under-bridge lots.  I've tested some buildings in there and it doesn't look too bad, but I think I'd rather show off the bridge a little more.

Those aren't draggable roads or puzzle pieces. They're either 1x1 road texture pieces or giant texture pieces, that's how Korver MMPs cars onto roads.

Chicago Loop Central update !

Chicago Loop I started constructing the El and upgraded most roads and avenue´s to NWM. Most available chicago plops available using, not all but close to what´s there. Bripiza nice elevated stations fitting nicely together with the look; triple ploping otherwise network won´t work !

Four Season Hotel and Grand Central makes a nice exchange for what is there !

Looking great!  Just in case you're interested, there are two Chicago style L stations available for SimCity 4.

Madison-Wells is out there too, but I can't find a link for it.

@The British Sausage, I use the german light replacement mod from mandelsoft. I've had it for years, and I remember it did take me a while to get it to work properly. I ended up using the Maxis nite option (even though I use dark night). I tried swapping it out a few years ago with one of the other countries available, but these gave really nuclear-bright results, so I just left the german one in place. 

Next little side project is a few sunken plazas. I've always liked some of the options out there, but disliked that shadows could not be cast on them, nor could the props be changed.

This one is a 6x6 batted grass, paver, water and stairs piece but as you can see, it is really easy to give it different looks:

I'll make a few other ground pieces in a similar vein, if there is interest (I know that most people's park menus would be full to bursting) but it really does help to break up skyscraper jungles, and, being able to correctly receive shadows makes it look like part of whichever lot it is next to...even the water goes into shadow correctly:
