It depends on the browser you have. Just go to he browser settings and there should be an area where you can clear something (history, saved passwords); cache removal can be found on that same menu. (On Chrome its under Settings--->Advanced Settings--->Clear browsing data)

As a first step, I'd recommend, pressing Ctrl + F5 to perform a force refresh of the current page. For me this worked for the new 2015 banner image above.

 

This basically tells the browser to reload the webpage and ignore any cached data. Then if any changes are made to page elements (e.g. images), they'll be updated in the cache, without the need to empty it completely. If this doesn't help, and for more drastic changes, Tonraq's suggestion should certainly do the trick.

Avatars are limited to 50 x 50 px.  They must also be .jpg, .png, .bmp, or .gif (I think that's the total list but there could be more.)

Yep, got the same problem and tried everything. The GIF basically is another pic but it always remains the same profile pic. I've always thought that this site code was getting a little organic.  Chances are some fix in another place has done this unexpectedly.  Good luck to the webmasters solving this.

Are you uploading the image directly (from your PC), or pasting the URL from an online host? All profile images appear to be hosted on the server, so maybe there's an issue transferring GIFs for some strange reason. Just a thought...

 

Maybe try:

 

1. Removing the photo (from the control panel here).
2. Force page reload / clear cache. The default grey picture should now be visible.
3. Upload your GIF image (in "Upload from file").
4. Force reload / clear the cache again.

True.  Until this is fixed you'll have to use another engine.  Try Google.

It seems the website doesn't automatically embed Youtube-videos when you link with the short url (youtu.be-style), only with the long url. Not a big problem, really, but worth mentioning.

Reporting an issue . . . I've been completely unable to stay logged in, post, or access my PMs since Firefox updated to Version 37.0.2.

 

I'm currently accessing the site through the Firefox fork, Pale Moon (25.2.1 (x64)).

Found the issue . . . apparently, at least right now, unchecking the "remember me" box when logging in will cause the issue I experienced.  Leaving that box checked solves the problem (posting this in Firefox again).

You mean the one where, if you haven't read that list for a while, it dumps you in at the head?

 

A work around is to use the short-cut at the top of the page to take you to the first unread entry.

That bug about not being able to replace your old GIF by a new one keeps occuring to me. Anything that can be done about that?

This issue first appeared about 3 months ago or so and happend whenever you copy and paste the pic's URL to use it as you avatar. Once you click "Done", the new image size snaps but the pic itself still remains the same. However, this only happens with GIFsm. I also remember others having the same problem.

 

EDIT: As it seems, you have to wait about 12 hours. After clicking "Change" again, the new avatar appears.

I've had occasion to change my avatar, usually on Remembrance day. but haven't encountered this one.  My poppy is a standard jpeg, but my regular moose is an animated gif.  I can't imagine any kind of delay coding that would cause substitution of gif images to be delayed.  There is a size limit (bytes) on images.

Hi, I can't open ST on my laptop anymore, because my virus scanner says it's a high risk site since a few days. I don't really like posting on my phone, but I had to do it to post this. Can anyone help me? My virus scanner is called Sophos btw.
