Nothing too fancy, though I guess it does show the power of the lot editor :)

The basic inspiration were these homes in Naples, Florida http://www.dominicktascher.com/images/er/er_waterfront.jpg

 What houses are these?

He's LOTted them himself, they're not available for download anywhere.

Question!

These are two pictures from one of my suburbs. Hope you like it, although I must admit that this time I missed my chance to make them something special. My usual suburb concept is: Most parts adapt to the slopes, completely messy street layout, as few 3x3 Maxis mansions as possible (except in high-wealth areas) and sometimes a bit of forest.

What is that building in bottom left in second picture?

Partially true. The houses themselves are available, maybe I can find where I got them as I got them all myself.

Ace just relotted them so they can be used as such waterfront property seen plenty times in the wealthier burbs around Florida.

Still, a magnificent creation. I wish I had such lotting skills not to mention Ace has the photoshop skills too. Great work in that area, although I am not sure if that is a suburb or a subdivision.

Would this be considered a suburb? I think so

It depends. A suburb, could range from an urban village to a large city adjacent to a megalopolis. For example, Bekasi, West Java, is a 2 million population city, large enough to be considered a metropolitan city by itself (in fact, it is). But due to it is located just east of the 10 million population Jakarta, it is often considered as a suburb.

Here's Palma, a "dark Nordic" (read: mostly R$), predominantly residential suburban city based loosely of Malmö in southwestern Sweden and in contrast Chateau Lafite, a heavily R$$$ college town based liberally on affluent suburbs in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut area.

I think they're here on the STEX. Just search for "highway noise barriers" or something similar.

A small town, rather than a suburb. But there isn't a 'show us your small towns' thread, and it's probably as big as a small suburb anyway! :)

These are MMP trees, right? Not a tree controller? They look great.

Thank you. But these woods on this screenshot in particular are neither MMP nor tree controller, they are actually ploppable lots that I arranged by myself, based on Girafe's trees (albeit his trees themselves are available as MMP trees). Girafe's trees can be found on the LEX, you can find them by searching for "BSC - VIP Girafe ...", and replace ... by "Oaks", "Beeches", "Birchs" and so on. Unfortunately, as for now, I can't share my lots because 1. they aren't finished yet, and 2. since I grouped some trees to prop families, I need Girafe's permission to share them.

Oh darn, those are perfect. Those are the exact  kind of trees that I've been looking for - they're easy to place and look nice. I definitely lack the skills needed to make my own - do you plan on sharing them at some point in the future?

I'll share them as soon as possible. You can, however, download the "MMP version" of these trees from the LEX.

Really lovely work from people! It's given me some ideas for my own suburban communities.

One of my latest suburbs. God bless the draggable FAR :)

Those are some absolutely impressive pictures! You used the draggable FAR to great effect, and I love it. Maybe there's a little too much road for too few houses in that pic, but given the possibilities, who's going to blame you even if you got carried away a little?

That was my thought too ahah. I can already hear your counselor telling you that roads dominate and streets are menaced ahah.

Still a really nice work with the FARR. :)

Well, I've become selectively blind for the "Roads dominate in ... and streets are menaced" hehe. I would have used streets, but unfortunately there are no draggable FA streets. Also I like the black ashpalt more than the ugly grey of the streets. Thanks for the compliments anyways :)
