One suggestion: Make the westbound lanes in the top picture 4 wide from where the ramp merges all the way through. No reason to cram everyone into 3 lanes when you've got room to comfortably fit 4.

I think that's a Wide A1 ramp, which doesn't have a type D1 counterpart

...

I think something went very wrong there:

No, it's two tiles away from the (non-overhanging) tile of the RHW-6S. A type E ramp will work there, as far as I can tell.

Nope; It's a B1. A1-Wide's a lot bigger.

Don't you mean an 8S E1?

Yep.

My new cloverstack interchange.
Very realistic! You could, however, use draggable type B ramps on the RHW-4, which would take away those starter stubs on the diagonal MIS and let you fit smooth curves in those loop ramps, if you want. The draggable ramps are useful for those tight places.

Thanks for the criticism! I dragged the ramp onto the RHW6 in hopes of saving space. But I'll look into all of your suggestions!

Put some effort into this city.

Impressive! :O

My new cloverstack interchange.

Very smooth and space consuming, and realistic too, but I like it! :D

G'day there,

Here are 3 highway interchanges which I am basing my new city on.

Hope you like them and that you get some ideas from the images.

Sorry about the size of the images.

Cheers

Here is one I just built. I honestly don't like the fact that the elevated one-way road has a one-tile curve like that; it just doesn't look right to me. I couldn't think of any other way to fit it in there, though.

I guess I can't embed images that I took with Steam because they somehow don't have a file extension.

hey.... if you dont have an image editor.... check out Gimp.... it has most of the features of photoshop.....for the forums make them 800x600.... sc4devotion also has a pretty cool program in the downloads section of the Lex ( search power search / lex type: tools: player) for the Clip2pic.... runs in the background and takes Jpg pics in the correct size for posting to forums

Deal with it. In Real Life, you also can't simply build a freeway through a city. And I'm not even talking about protests against new freeways. Freeways consume quite a lot of room, especially in the interchanges. It's no different in Real Life. Maxis Highways are way too small, in lane width (only 3m) as well as interchange sizes (225x225m for the cloverleaf interchane). Real life interchanges are at least twice as big, but often three or four times as big. The RHW takes up a no more than reasonable amount of surface area. In fact, you still can build compact interchanges with the RHW, even when using wider RHW variants:

im-4.18.jpg

im-4.19.jpg

Also, I see you like to build your interchanges close together. You obviously have never heard about weaving, do you? It's a much undesired effect that causes traffic jams and my also raise the risk of accidents. My advice is to put the ramps preferably 1km apart.

There are some wider RHW bridges under development in the future, but that will have to wait until the next release (due to implementation troubles):

rhw6sbridge02.jpg

swn05.jpg

At least, we now have RHW-2 and RHW-4 bridges, as well as MIS, RHW-2, RHW-4 and RHW-6S and 6C overpasses.

There were plans from some team to make a full concrete texture set for the RHW as well as the NWM and all Maxis networks, but as far as I know, that mod was never completed. Don't blame the RHW mod for it; it's labour intensive to make such a mod (it took me 3.5 months to completely Eurofy the RHW).

Best,

Maarten

There are 3 and 4 RHW laned bridges? Did I miss anything?

Why not a railroad interchange for a change?

This interchange was built in one of my side regions, in the city of Borlin. Since this centric city is a major railroad hub, keeping trains running as fast as possible is essential, and thus makes for a greater need of minimizing crossings and maximizing possible routes available to both passenger (local, metropolitan and regional) and freight.

Yeah, if you belong to the group of eye-candy nazies (like me), you'll want a slope mod or do slopes by yourself, like i've been always doing.
