Here is a new one from me. Simple but effective. This is the terminus from I-184 (spur route) to I-85 / I-485 (thru interstate / loop route ) When I label my highways I go by the American standard which is:

  • N-S interstates have 2 digit odd numbers
  • W-E interstates have 2 digit even numbers
  • Spur routes have 3 digit numbers beginning with an odd number (the last 2 digits usually coincide with the primary route it splits from)
  • Loop Routes have 3 digit numbers beginning with an even number (the last 2 digits usually coincide with the primary thru route it loops around. Also, outer loops tend to have higher numbers than the inner loop)

Just a quick bit of trivia from an american road geek ( I'm a trucker I have to know these things :P )

Anyways here it goes.

The interchange is not completed but it is functional. This area is not developed yet but will be a hotbed for commercial activity. I envision this area to become more of a commercial hub on the west side of town. Lots of residences are to the west with lots of oil and container ports to the east which makes this area a heavily thru traffic spot. Also, there will be more ports and an international airport to the south. Expandability is built into the design for both the spur routes and the interchange itself.

EDIT: Here's some more interchanges. All functional but still somewhat under development. All done today.

The puzzle pieces where the Elevated road crosses the elevated MIS exist? I thought that wouldn't be possible. Thanks!

But the piece that's mentioned is already available since RHW v4.0.

Actually, it's existed since RHW 3.0 (almost 4 years ago), when the Elevated MIS was first introduced.

I also want to say that I saw your thread, fighterfungus, and I'm a huge fan of your artwork. The interchange looks really good. Keep up the good work!

ewwww weaving

But only on half of it. The rest uses a collector-distributor system which (in real-life, at least) mitigates the weaving on the mainline highway and focuses it on another part away from main traffic.

However, that's really the only good part of that particular interchange...

This is the interchange between the main north-south highway and the main east-west highway, which ends just beyond the right edge.

Two interchanges located further south.

    Those loops are rather... boxy.

Oh boy, you could build a whole city inside the loops :O

Could someone enlighten me on how to get elevated curved ramps over a RHW? Also, is it possible to create diagonal bridges over a RHW? I have yet to see any built that are not at 90-degrees. Thanks.

    1. FlexFly, found at the end of the RHW Curves tab ring (RHW Curves button). Just drag a ground-level RHW right through it.

    2. The correct terminology is ELEVATED RHW. Yes and no. Yes, in that there are special puzzle pieces (but only for RHW-2, 4, and MIS), no in that there's no way to do that so it's draggable... Or at least, no known way to get it draggable in the public release...

My first "interconnected" interchange w/ collector lanes. Quite happy with this. Effort were made to have the freeway-freeway as a free-flow without any loops, but it became too frustrating given my "newbie" experience with the RHW system.

    rivermedenov20011348039.jpg

And what my "engineers" think is the most compact urban interchange possible. Thoughts?

I use that compact one myself sometimes. It's good for where you need an interchange that you didn't previously plan for because it's so tidy. I hope that one day there will be a few more roundabout options in our world of SC4 :)

I've shown this one in my cj, but I don't think many people saw it....
