If that made your day, this will certainly make you gasp:

kp_foxshire_02.jpg

It's still experimental, though...

Another interchange I've built in the same city:

(Yes, I know there's a missing link)

Best,

Maarten

Maarten, your picture with the roundabout interchange is just awesome!

Also, is it possible to create diagonal bridges over a RHW? I have yet to see any built that are not at 90-degrees. Thanks.

As Ganaram already told you, the possibilities are somehow limited. But if you don't mind using the OWR diagonal ramps for flat terrain and by making use of the DBE as diagonal onslope ramps, there are still some possibilities.

I have diagonal versions of almost every known regular 4-way interchange type. Most of them were built before the DBE existed and thus are dependent on the diagonal OWR ramp puzzle pieces.

Btw: Nice interchanges you built here.

This interchange is a conventional cloverstack where I just used diagonal OWR ramps.

Cloverstack_small_diag.jpg

A windmill interchange. Still nothing special here (except that it's diagonal).

Windmill_diag.jpg

This irregular 4-way interchange with an integrated junction is one of the first where I began experimenting with the DBE.

4-way_irregular_jct_NS.jpg

The important part is the overpass at the top of the picture. In the detail view you can clearly see that I had to make use of the OWR again.

4-way_irregular_jct_crossing.jpg

This one is more a proof of concept. I wanted to know if it's possible to have a direct transition from a 'true' diagonal bridge (necessarily as OWR) to ERHW.

Yea Maarten, I think I need a towel after seeing that roundabout interchange. You guys are doing some awesome work with the RHW! :)

    It's not RHW.

    Ok, RHW project perse.

Mandelsoft: very nice work with that design. Is it possible to add 4 more ramps on each side to act as slip lanes? That way only traffic turning left needs to enter the roundabout.

McDuell: Fantastic as always... What more can I say? :P

Alright this is not sc4 related but i got a question related to making interchanges in Cityscape. A really basic question. How do I get the road widgets back? lol thx

    *scrolls scrolls... WAIT. What.

I spent a good minute just... staring. That's a work of art, and I can think of about 8 instances where that would be useful in my city.

You really stumped me with that one Maarten. All I see is a slight texture variation from the entrance/exit puzzle pieces to the MIS ramps itself. Nothing else, course I just woke up 5 minutes ago, haven't even made it through the first cigg of the day.

    EDIT: Don't tell me it's road/ave based......

TekindusT: Looks nice but I'm a critic of your westbound to southbound and eastbound to northbound ramps. That's a lot of curves, and they end with a left entrance? I would recommend something like this:

    Crappy paint job but whatever:

To all conversing about Mandelsoft's interchange, all I think I can say is that it's based on something that has been under development as part of the RHW project for some time.

Nope... That's not it. It's very subtle. Things may not look as they seem to be...

    (Hint: look for certain transitions!)

Is it MHW-based? The transition and elevated portion supports look like the MHW ones. So perhaps it is part of the MHW-restyling project that has been going on?

Yes, that's it! It's a Maxis Highway Replacment!

Holy crap. MHW kept coming to mind but I was like 'no, there is no way' Heck I guess there is a way :)

Hax is more like it.

MHW is also how the RHW 6S bridges will be made, along with other components released in the future like that 3 level roundabout.

Thats brilliant, but can it support multiple lanes (like RHW 6/8/10S) etc?

I guess you'd have to make several versions of the same roundabout for that to happen, but I'm glad this is coming through. Great stuff guys.

Wow MandelSoft really cool! Never would of guessed MHW! Anyway here is my Basketweave/Half Diamond Intersection thingo. I know it is missing some smooth curves in places but the limitations of Sim City are a hinderence, and some slight weaving. it was just meant so that the people in the outer collector lanes could go in the expressway lanes and vise-versa.

My guess: Two, three at the most. One for MHW, and one more (and one probably bigger) for all of RHW.

I guess you wouldn't need this for two RHW-10 interchanges, as by design this would be inefficient IRL.

It's probably only suited to RHW-4 or 6 capacitywise.

Let me give you a hint as to what I mean that you only need only one or two RA pieces for RHW. If everything pans out correctly,...

    rhw072020111.jpg

Though what Maarten had was 6x6, so it can't work for C-networks. Then again, you have a valid point...

I could model some straights and divided in quarters, so if this model can be "WAVEridden", these straight fillers can be used for three and four tile networks to cross underneath.

@Haljackey: I guess you're right about it, plenty of curves in my interchange. I think I could use some of the workarounds seen in this thread, but I personally don't like them if they don't look smooth and nice (just a personal opinion, of course!). Aesthetics come first when using RHW for fun for me!

TekindusT: Oh it's all about finding that happy medium between functionality and aesthetics. Don't take what I said to heart, just a recommendation from my analysis of your junction.

Data7: Very nice! Any chance you can change those FlexFly ramps into a diagonal elevated MIS ramp? It would look a lot better.

If not, you can swing it at the side of your junction so you can cut down the amount of 90 degree curves from 3 to 1 kinda like this:
