@Everyone on this page and the previous page: Great work! Your interchanges look so unique and creative. All I can make at this point is a diamond interchange. :P

    Nice work guys.

Blue Lightning: that pic screams for RHW-6 smooth curves.

And since we're talking cloverleafs, here's one of my last still standing:

And I hope that is also one of your last Wren Insurance's standing! :P. I would recommend BSC No Maxis Mod if you really want no more maxis. I have NO Mhw standing, just RHW. And several parclos. No pics right now.

Took a few hours but I finally retrofitted my first RHW/MHW junction!

    Click for full size:

    Original design

    3zlEw.jpg

Multi-RHW added, big dig ramps removed.

    84sdn.jpg

Present day. The lack of a C/E connection being able to pass under has led to a major bottleneck.

    downtown-apr._17__2331343278558.jpg

Retrofit complete. Also widened the express lanes to 6.

    downtown-may._31__2331343252102.jpg

The junction is still substandard, but given the space and design restrictions, I'd say the new design is standard enough :P

    Edit: Image issues

    @Haljackey

nice evolution and mix of the MHW and RHW never tried something like that before

This is one of my largest highways 75'000 cars use it every rush hour. Maybe not the most beautiful highway but i don't think there would much of the city left if i made the intersection "full" instead of "partial" and added some smooth curves.

I think it's high time for me to join this topic :)

First of all: I admire Your work guys. It's awsome and inspiring. Keep on uploading pics!

    Here's my contribution.

    rhw4.jpg

It's unfished. I want to ask, how to build road tunnel under RHW to make it work properly? AS You can see on the left side of the picture i made an underpass but it's not working. That's why I temporarly built road overpass that looks creepy for me.

Thank's for help if any ;)

One thing I don't like on the RHW is the amount of space it takes to build interchanges, so I decided to try to make a complete 2 highway interchange as compact as possible, and this is what I came to:

    interchange1.png

EDIT: I made another one, this time it is more symmetrical, and I don't think it can get more compact than this:

I agree. I may even use it in some of my own cities.

Speaking of that I have some new interchanges to show. This one is a new three-level stacked roundabout. It's a junction between a freeway and an important arterial road, so it should serve adequately:

    9-46.jpg

    A more conventional roundabout interchange:

    And a very attractive Semi-Directional T:

If you want, I can give you the city tile I built these on, so you can study them in detail. They were quite hard to build, as I had to build, demolish, rebuild etc. all the time (especially because of the FlexFly's).

I always wanted to build an actual RHW -RHW nterchange instead of using a MHW interchange, so i built my first one. Just a standard roundabout interchange just outside my CBD, one highway going into the CBD.

    http://flic.kr/p/cPrEX5

but the end going in/out of the CBD would become very, very congested, so I came up with a solution.

    http://flic.kr/p/cPrF4m

I wanted to keep as much usable space as possible so I built that behemoth so there would be room inside to build stuff in. It worked well inside the city because traffic flowed better and less space was used than the one before. It was a win-win!

(sorry the city it was in became corrupt so I wasn't able to take the pictures for them.)

Speaking of old RHW, I think I'm on the older side myself when it comes to the network. Below is a picture of an interchange section in an old city that dates back from either 2007 or early 2008. My, how the mighty have risen :golly: .

    1-333.jpg

I might have some surviving sections from before the starter pieces were implemented (a.k.a. the old RHW) but I haven't been able to find any, and I'm not sure there are any left to be found. In the meantime, Haljackey remains the only known person to still have surviving sections of pre-2.0 RHW. I suggest you keep those stretches - by this time I'm sure they're historical sites.

@Patricius Maximus: I once and a while enjoy gonig back looking at my first RHW segment - which was under 2.0 - it is funny to see how awful it was. I didn't know what a slope mod was at that point - or just didn't use one. It was a very bumpy road, that's for sure.

Not too bad, but I'd recommend extending the OWR connectors (on the top to bottom road) out one tile to produce more of a circular shape. I'm glad that my work inspires imitation (imitation not being used in a bad context here).

I have something new to show. This is a somewhat unusual area for me to delve into, but in a new city called Ryansville, I've created quite a light rail system (elevated and ground). A complex intersection between different rail lines has produced this result, which I think can fairly be described as an interchange. It even has grade separation :P . If you want to see more of this city I have some more pictures in the New Patrician Showcase.

yeah.. that not too circual shape was little bit irritating for me too, so i was try some other versions too:

    12.jpg

not sure but maybe it looks better that way. i dont like idea of streetlight on top very mutch but probably its more realistic version than previous

Eh, I think you'd be better off to expand the size of the roundabout. This new version is more realistic in appearance, but having the left lanes, which are usually the fast/express track on a freeway, go directly into a traffic light, doesn't strike me as a good idea, even if you can veer right and avoid the traffic lights.

This new interchange is like a left-exit SPUI, and with that in mind you'd be better off constructing a conventional SPUI using the FLEX-SPUI puzzle pieces. It wouldn't take up any more space.

Of course, I don't know your circumstances. In some situations, particularly short expressway routes, unconventional exits and interchanges may be a good thing. I've done it before myself. Could you provide more context?

its kinda edge of my city and i theres allso hill and finished buildingzone.. so, i cant/want make it bigger.

at the very first version of my roadmap there was just a regular roundaboat.

now i was create version with stright middle lanes and lifted intersection in the edge

notably i was unable to find owr to avenue to owr again puzzle piece so i was used owr to road to road to owr and it seems to work that way too,

and without signal lamps.. maybe its good thing.
