Are there still batters alive here? Please stay with us! It's getting lonely here.

For my upcoming 75. birthday (well ... in 20 years ...) I'd like to request a bat.

Reason:

a) it is so damn beautiful

b) it's easier than the Guardian Building; Detroit

and

b) it can be done.

It's the Elisenturm in den Hardtanlagen, Wuppertal, Germany (Elisentower, botanical garden in Wuppertal, Germany), built in 1838.

Well, okay, if the Elisentower looks to easy to be a challenge for the jedi-master-batter, so ...

... how's about the Corn Exchange in Leeds, England? Would that be a challenge to bat?

could someone make some to scale baseball and football field/tracks that would be found at American High schools? There are some very good ones between here and the lex but very few if any are to scale.

IIRC, @kingofsimcity ones are correctly scaled and impressively flexible.

Thanks for the likes. I forgot to mention: the Elisenturm or Elisentower is named after Elisabeth Ludovika, princes of Bavaria who wasn't only the aunt of the famous empress Sisi but also a very well educated scientificly interested woman. That's why a tower used as an observatory was named after her.

INSTEAD – and this may be off topic but good to know if you're asked on the street by passer-by, which of course may happen quite often – this tower and the princess ov Bavaria has nothing to do with Beethoven's famous little piano piece called "For Elise" (YouTube) and whe still not know who this Elise is, Beethoven dedicated his music to. So actually it's right to ask: who the f.... is Alice?

But to get this post back on topic: wouldn't it be nice to have such a nice tower in SC4 taht serves even as an observatory - so Sims could watch the cieling at night.

(They have a cieling in the game, don't they? Or do sims have outer space?)

Humble Request:

The Matenadaran, Jerewan, Armenia.

Reason:

The Matenydaran is an extraordinary world cultural heritage site siting on a massiv rock which holds an artificial atomic bomb proof cave. Inside this cave are stored 17.000 ancient armenian scrolls collected in the beginnings of the armenian apostolic church means in the 4th and 5th century. The word "Matenadaran" means library.

But most of all as we know, often sometimes rarely never we are asked if we have bats in neo-armenic style. So if we had this bat we could point users at it and say this is a very neo-armenic bat. Just in case one fine day somebody asks for. Sigh.

I don't think they can see past the top of my monitor - but they do have aliens in flying saucers so space is a possibility

Perhaps someone could BAT The Imperial Towers in Mumbai, India?

image.png.77a5cb6f2e42c11ad4b5bd3818582e91.png

It's always nice to have more variety for our cities, and I don't recall seeing many buildings from India on the STEX or on the LEX. The Imperial is India's tallest building, so I went with it for this request.

Another request would be the Nitel Tower in Lagos, Nigeria:

image.png.583f8d1ffb8470e85d697841444d2e4f.png

While I have seen and downloaded some South African skyscrapers, there aren't too many buildings from Africa either.

EDIT: One more. Top of The World Hotel in Barrow/Utqiagivk, Alaska.

More variety is always good :)

As I stated in my last post, there is a lack of BATs from this part of the world, so seeing more from African countries, India, etc would be a nice change of pace. As for this specific building, it would be a great building to put alongside a city's coastline, or maybe in a tourist hub in general. It could be a ploppable with jobs, or a reward.

It would be cool if someone did Scott and White medical center in Temple, Texas. Scott and White is part of the Baylor Scott and White medical system in Texas. The system covers the Dallas Ft Worth Metro to North Austin to Bryan/College Station. The just merged with Memorial Herman in the Houston area. Making Baylor Scott and White the biggest medical system in Texas. If you want to see the full size of the hospital on google maps, it is at 2401 S. 31st Street Temple, TX 76508.

I would love to see these bats made. I feel that they are big enough franchises that need to be in the game. As well as more car rental lots, hotel lots, big box stores, etc...

I would love to see some realistic auto dealerships. Maybe a Full GMC store. Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC. No palm trees, realistic signs and full lot of cars. I've been holding out for one so long I would even be willing to pay someone to customize one. But if that was the case, I would want my last name on the building and bottom of the sign040.jpeg.db4ad6e02746bfa4ae6f1fa7f7f64859.jpegc7dbb7eb1ae24f94a8bb2b636acddc05_c0x188-1024x439.jpg.90cb2045573ffc80a9f1b03a666cb91d.jpg

Niagara Mohawk Building (Syracuse, NY)

Niagara_Mohawk_Building.jpg.634a389e58589d9ea35b4b001885a624.jpg

Image Courtesy Jean-Paul Richard, Wikimedia Commons

As no single image I can find truly does it justice, for more images of this very photogenic and well-photographed building, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Niagara_Mohawk_Building, or see a Google image search for "Niagara Mohawk Building".

Description:

The Niagara Mohawk building in Syracuse, New York was the headquarters of the Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, which generated and transmitted electricity for much of upstate New York and became one of the largest power companies in the USA. Built in 1932 in highest-style Art Deco, it is roughly seven stories at its highest, with a pronounced stainless steel sculpture "The Spirit of Light" on the front, and polished metal accents around the building. Not shown above is the dramatic historic night-lighting of the building---befitting a major electric company's HQ.

It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010 for its architectural significance, and continues in use to this day by the successor power company (as a regional HQ).

For more general information, see the Wikipedia entry or the Atlas Obscura entry.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

1.) It is architecturally interesting, but generic enough to fit into most any modern or period Art Deco city.
2.) The game lacks a wide range of low-rise/mid-rise Art Deco structures, in particular ones of strong architectural interest. This building is only seven stories or so at its highest, but with a level of architectural detailing to rival the Chrysler Building. It would thus fit in any low-rise city.
3.) With its cascading levels, it would provide some visual interest on the sides and on the roof (it is not just a simple tower), yet is large enough to be noticeable at various zoom levels.
4.) The historic period night-lighting (as restored) would look splendid in night scenes.
5.) While distinctive, the form doesn't clearly convey its function beyond that of an important low-rise office, and so could serve a number of visual uses for city journals.

Notes:

  • Between the 1980s and ca. 2010 the building windows were modified in a retrofit; the windows have since been restored to their original configuration
  • If someone is interested in making it, I took a number of architectural detail shots a couple years ago that may be useful as reference.

Baltimore's "Mr. Trash Wheel," which collects trash in the city's Inner Harbor, complete with the googly eyes. It has collected over 1,000,000 lbs of trash in the Inner Harbor since 2008, and now there are several more in the city. It would function as a waterfront recycling center in game.

Wondering if any of our batting geniuses has considered creating pieces for a New York High Line type of elevated pedestrian/park system, using in-game el train models or original designs. Eye candy or functional lots, either would be a fun addition.

Yo, guys --

I know I'm probably banging my head against a brick wall -- but here goes, anyway --

I've been fiddling around with SC4 since 2003 and I've been able to learn how to create lots with buildings, props, etc, and I can even open lots and manipulate the properties with some skill...(all thanks to a great deal of time and effort on the part of many helpful and talented people in our community).  BUT -- I have never been able to get the hang of making my own BATs, so I can only work with the existing creations of people with much more skill than I have.  It amounts to me trying to make do the best I can with what is already available in the game.  I'm pretty creative about it, but it has limitations.

My problem is WARSHIPS.  There are probably already enough warships in the game, but they are mostly modern.  I am seriously interested in working on a dockyard scenario with models from 1910 to 1918 of battleships and battlecruisers.  I'm not greedy -- just one or two would do.  I've been waiting and hoping for 16 years, but to no avail.

Can ANYONE make me a water-ploppable model (and a prop that can be attached to a quay) of the SMS BAYERN ??

PLEASE -- before I get too old to use it ??

Here is a link to a brief description of the ship: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_Bayern

If you are interested I will endeavor to find and send to you additional photos and plan drawings.

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !
