Bojangles

Description:

A lovely fast food restaruant for you to eat at.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Fans of Bojangles would like this because there no Bojangles on the ST and this would help people who are making suburban cities. It will be great if the building is a CS$ or CS$$.

@GYEvan: The stadium was planned to become a baseball stadium after, Atlanta already had Georgia Dome while the Braves played at an outdated round doughnut. You can see the grandstand having baseball-like layout.

@Aaron Graham: It should be in CO$$ low density too minus the Bojangles sign, not much good looking low density CO$$.

RAWABI ABRAJ AL BAIT - MECCA (MAKKAH)

makkah6764740.jpg

It is a hotel next to the grand mosque backing onto the Abraj al bait endowment.

it would be good for the community as it is both a fascinatingly large construction ( the largest building in the world by floor area when completed, nearly doubling the nearest rival (an airport terminal)) and offers a taste of modern arabic architecture.

ROAD BARRIERS / GUARD RAILS

Road%20Guard%20Rail%20Small.JPG

Description

Stops cars from entering dangerous areas

Why this would be beneficial to the game:

Although there are many road barriers available, there are no 'unobtrusive' guardrails. This would be a new addition to the STEX (i think 3.gif)

The Crystal Cathedral

cathedral.jpg

Google image search 'The Crystal Cathedral': http://www.google.com/images?q=the+crystal+cathedral&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&oe=UTF-8&startIndex=&startPage=1&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wi&biw=987&bih=587

Description:

The Crystal Cathedral church and Prayer Spire are southern California architectural landmarks located at the corner of Lewis & W Chapman Ave. in Garden Grove, California. It's a ridiculously large megachurch made up of over 10k glass tiles, and seats over 2700 people in it's sanctuary alone. An absoutely beautiful piece of architecture, and the land it sits on isn't too shabby either.

The Wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal_Cathedral

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

It's a beautiful building that would be an excellent house of worship for the larger cities.

I'd love to see a few of the medium-height skyscrapers of the Detroit, MI skyline.... my requests are below, with a picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/90/DavidStottsitsamongDetroittowers.jpg

The towers I'd love to see the most are:

150 West Jefferson (Madden Building) - Built in 1989, on the former site of the new york stock exchange.  Has a unique "pyramid" on the top, with four large american flags

One Woodward Avenue - built by Minoru Yamasaki Associates (same people that designed and built the World Trade Center).  The cube on top (which holds the elevator equipment) is illuminated with giant floodlights for various holidays, such as red and green for christmas, red white and blue for independence day, and so on.

Cadillac Tower - Another unique Art Deco building in Detroit, has a giant mural on one side.

Penobscot Building - Thanks to its central position in downtown, it helped early aviators navigate above Detroit.  This building appears to have heavily influenced the Empire State Building, with its "H" shape, tapering roof, floodlights, and giant, slowly-blinking globe atop a short tower on its peak.

Other Detroit towers I would love to see down the line are:

Millender Center Apartments / Courtyard by Mariott

Coleman A. Young Municipal Building (both parts)

Guardian Building - Very Historically Significant, as During World War II, the Guardian Building served as the U.S Army Command Center for war time production, earning this building's nickname of "The Cathedral of Finance", and inspired President Franklin Roosevelt to call Detroit the "Arsenal of Democracy" from its industrial base.

Buhl Building

Fisher Building

David Stott Tower

David Broderick Tower

Blue Cross Blue Shield Building

Kales Building - KMart's first headquarters (which is also what the "K" in KMart stands for)

1300 Lafayette / Jeffersonian Apartments

Buildings within Windsor (my home town), that I'd love to eventually see are:

Victoria Park Place - Tallest building in Windsor at 33 floors, in an "L" shape... used to have a news office for CKCO-TV Kitchener on its floor)

Solidarity Tower - Built during one of the worst recessions in Windsor (late 1970s), helped kick-start the city's economy

Ouellette Manor - Similar in appearance (but much taller than) the Jeffersonian Apartments

75 Riverside Drive East - This used to have the television studios of local station CHWI-TV until 1998.  Coloured gold, with 45-degree bay windows, and triangular parapets at the top, like a funky, futuristic castle in the sky.

Cencourse Apartments - Red and white, with a black roof, this building has a church and small shops on the bottom (Google Street view of Wyandotte Street and Ouellette Avenue will show you what i mean).  During sunrise and sunset, the gold light reflected off the building can be seen well over 5 km / 3 miles away.

LeGoyeau Apartments - A futuristic 1970s apartment building in the shape of an upside-down T, with curves

Royal Windsor Terrace - Tied with Solidarity Tower for second-tallest building in Windsor (at 26) floors, this is windsor's most-luxurious apartment tower.  Been inside it several times.  The large, spacious lobby walls and floors have marble, and all of the hallways have burgundy and gold carpeting, with light beige pinstriped wallpaper.

Bank of Commerce Building (CIBC Building) - This would be insanely easy to build, as the Prentiss Building (already on STEX) and Tsang Accounting (i forget if this was available on STEX, or if it was bundled with the game) look nearly identical to it!  Since it houses the canadian offices of the International Joint Commission, alongside having the passport office and CIBC bank within, perhaps this could be ploppable as a government building?

Canada Building - Classic Art Deco design, CHWI-TV recently installed a massive TV screen on the southern side near the roof of the building, sort of like the screens used at Times Square. The screen airs a feed of the television station, and can be seen as far away as E.C. Row Expressway (5 km / 3 miles) south.

What are my reasons for nominating so many buildings in my area?  Well, i'm sure i'm not the only one that would love to "build Detroit RIGHT", even if it's just in SimCity 4 3.gif.  I know I'm not the only one that also loves modelling their own home town, too.  I find it quite surprising that for a city of its size (902,000 city, 5.4 million metro), Detroit has hardly ANY buildings modelled, while smaller populated centers like Denver and Kansas City are chock full of buildings.

I've also noticed that we tend to have a ton of skyscrapers with 80+ floors, or things with under 15 floors, and very few in between... especially with art deco or international or gothic architecture.  That's why i think these buildings would be a PERFECT fit with SimCity.  I apologize if my request is too long, or if I'm asking for too much.

[Well, seeing as you didn't meet the syntax, and it is kinda tl;dr, I'll give you a few days to fix both of those issues - Blue Lightning]

You are asking for too much, and youre not following the rules for it either. Any request you make needs a picture to fit with the rules.

You have made over 20 requests, and you need a picture for each request to fit with the rules, just one for all of them isnt enough. That means youll need over 20 pictures, and they cant be links. If someone is actually going to take the time to make a building, they will need good pictures of it just not a name or a link.

I would know this becsue i make buildings myself. This one took a very long time to make and i had to get many diffrent images to make it. I even e-mailed the nationl historical society and asked for the registry documents which had floorplans of the building. Making theese buildings takes a long time. Just one on the list would take mutiple months by most people, if not more time. (they only do it in ther free time as a hobby and are not payed)

Also when you say theres no detroit buildings on the stex thats untrue, tehres a entire team that only makes detroit buildings here

Echelon Place Las Vegas

echelon%20rendering%20new%201.jpgechelon%20rendering%20new%202.jpg

Description: Echelon Place Las Vegas is a hotel-casino with over 5,000 rooms that is being built where the Stardust used to be.

http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com/ <<< You can visit this website to get some more ideas for models of Las Vegas that can be REALLY cool to work on.

Why this would be beneficial to the Simtropolis community: It's a very unique resort under construction in Las Vegas, and Las Vegas doesn't get much attention in the STEX ot the LEX at SC4D. 22.gif So please, help bring Las Vegas to SimCity 4!!! 9.gif

Hey guys, I know it's been mentioned in this thread before, but how about a modern Target store? There is one on the STEX, but it's the old Target stores from the 80s-early 90s. New stores are popping up everywhere and would look great in our suburbs! A fantastic Super Target model is out there, but it too is not the current store design or logo...

Both store prototypes include illuminated logos... GM stores have 'PHARMACY' off the main entrance along the flat wall. SuperT's will have 'PHARMACY' on one side and 'GROCERY' on the other.

Examples of regular GM Target prototype:

Hey, I was wondering if someone would like to try to attempt to make a couple of buildings?  (None of these pictures are mine.)

Below, pics numbers 3-6 of the Peter Herdic Hotel.

I had attempted this building like two years ago, in order to learn Gmax, but alas, I got too caught up with a few web projects, my teaching job, and learning Adobe After Effects and Flash. Learning another program, especially a 3D program at this point in time, is not really feasible. So, without further ado:

http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php?topic=19277.0

Photo number 7 of the Presbyterian Church would also be cool, but alas, I have no other photo of different angles atm. (None of these photos are mine, either.)

And if you take a peek at the 11th photo down. It is the Weightman building. It is probably one of my all-time favorite archtectural peices from any town or city I have ever vistited. If someone could take on the project of the Weightman Building, I would be most pleased! Next time I go home (leaving this Tuesday for Christmas/Winter Break,) I can take pictures of this wonderful building from all the different angles. Unforunately, I have no idea how to get a birds-eye view of the thing, except of course for Google Maps.

If any of those other photos catches anyone's fancy if you may be inspired to make one, lemme know. I can take many photos for when I am home.

Also, anyone interested in making beautiful Victorial-style mansions from the mid-to-late 1800s, the city has tons of them.

EDIT:

I noticed the rules about adding photographs to requests in here. I didn't think it quite appropriate to actually uploads photos from someone else, so I just provided a link.

I probably will bump this thread with a new post after winter break, with photos I took myself.

Description:

The Sonoma City Hall is, well, the City Hall of Sonoma, California, just north of San Fransisco. I have seen it in real life, and it is really quite beautiful. HISTORY The City Hall was temporarily the capital of the California Republic, and the location of the Bear Flag revolt (which sparked the Mexican-American war). It is located in the middle of the largest central plaza in California and was designed to look the same on every side, to please plaza shopkeepers. The plaza itself has the City Hall, the East Library building (now home of the Sonoma Valley Visitor's Bureau), the pond, two separate playgrounds, and the Bear Flag monument in it.

Why this would be beneficial for the game or community:

Thank You for the Continued Support!

Simtropolis depends on donations to fund site maintenance costs.
Without your support, we just would not be in our 24th year online!  You really help make this a great community. *:thumb:

But we still need your support to stay online. If you're able to, please consider a donation to help us stay up and running. This helps sustain a platform where we can share our community creations for years to come.

STEX Collections

By way of a "Thank You" gift, we'd like to send you our STEX Collector's DVD. It's some of the best buildings, lots, maps and mods collected for you over the years. Check out the STEX Collections for more info.

Each donation helps keep Simtropolis online, open and free!

Thank you for reading and enjoy the site!
