About This File

Designed by Edward Larrabee Barnes, the Axa Equitable Center is a postmodern skyscraper located at 787 7th Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, NYC. The building stands 54 stories high and was completed in 1985.

This model is available as a CO$$$ tower in both growable and ploppable versions, both of which sit on a 4x8 lot. Both Darknite and Maxisnite options are provided - use only one at a time! Additionally, I have included a CAM version of the growable lot; if you have the CAM installed, simply swap out the normal growable lot files with the ones in the "CAM Lots" file.

What do you think of when you think of the 1980s? Big hair, power suits, synthesizers? In the architectural world, Postmodernism was just hitting its stride. It was a playful exchange, exaggerations of old forms and materials in dazzling towers and swanky apartments. While not everyone's cup of tea, buildings like the AXA Equitable Center really capture that moment in time.

IDS2's model of the AXA Equitable Center is special. This isn't just token "PoMo" for your downtowns. This is an amazing piece of work. The textures blend seamlessly with the game's palette, the lighting is subtle but exquisitely detailed, and the attention to detail is fantastic - in the night view, you can practically hear the clacking of Italian leather shoes and high heels across that period-correct atrium floor.

Everything from the rooftop mechanicals to the ground level is so thoughtfully done, that if you were to limit yourself to just a handful of skyscrapers, this should be one of them - and it helps it comes in ploppable as well as growable form, because buildings of this scale are few and far between.

This gets a 5/5. The time, love and care put into this BAT shows. IDS2, you've done a terrific job, and the Simtropolis community is grateful.

What a stunning model! The texturing is superb and there are still so few early PoMo 1980's style buildings available that make this really unique. Thanks for sharing. *:thumb:

It is much better than my design from a few years ago! I wish you could also make some of the other models I have. It would be amazing for the New York skyline

Brilliant work you did here! Every part of it is really well done, but I especially like the roof textures and the night windows.
