About This File

Introduction

This mod is totally based on Neko Panchi's sidewalk mod – it is aimed at players who enjoy using the mod but use RHD in their game.

Those who already use the mod will notice some minor changes – a few props were added (mostly road signs) while others were replaced (traffic lights & lamps).

Also the mod received a little extension – SAM10 streets (for Residential & Commercial zones only) and SAM7 (Industrial zones only) were added.

Folder description

zCoreFile folder contains the main T21 files

Dependencies folder containis models and family props

zReplacement folder contains a file that will replace default maxis lamps and traffic lights by Mandelsoft & Neko Punch models

For those having problems with the mod: you need Neko Panchi's sidewalk mod installed with all its dependencies, please refer to the readme.

Great mod Magneto sadly I am already using Nekopanchi's... and I cant add any more otherwise my SC4 wont work. Hell yeah, Im using a crappy laptop for the meantime. Hahaha.

But still, great work in here!

Perhaps, a mod in which I can stop maxis buildings from growing? That would be great.

OK, just finished testing this mod out with a variant of LRM version 5.1 found here:

http://community.simtropolis.com/topic/45710-lrm-light-replacement-mod-support-development-and-discussion/

And immediately upon testing on a fresh city tile, the streets, roads and avenues all get brown boxes. But testing on LRM version 4 does work. So I guess this mod will need to be updated for LRM 5.1 then?

Anyway, I immediately fell in love with the look of streets, roads and the avenues with this mod so I do intend to keep it.

But if it's not too much to ask, I'd like to request a small "tuning/override" mod for those blue Japanese billboard/signs that get placed on roads & avenues. I don't read Japanese and wish to not have them in my game.

Those power lines come as part of the original/base sidewalk mod.

The mod initially works with LRM 4, so does this addon. I do not plan to change that - you can simply keep the models from LRM 4, you don't need the other files. Also, if you use this mod you should stay away of LRM 5.1 (or any other T21 mod for that matter) as it will conflict, so you'll have parts of your network with LRM and others with JPN sidewalk. No need for an update...

For the billboards see here

If you use it, you'd be glad to know this mod simply overrides Neko's T21 files...So having his mod plus this one will not change anything to the speed of your game...

Thanks for the Billboards Cancellation override Magneto, I very much appreciate it :thumb:

As for LRM 5.1, I decided to stick with LRM 4.0 seeing as NekoPunch & your Mods are must haves for my game.

I'm having a problem with some brown boxes appearing, and I can't figure out what the cause is. I can see most of the props, but it looks like I'm just missing a couple.

I know that when I unzipped this file [ z_zJPN_SideWalk_Mod2.zip ] it said that it couldn't create certain files because it said that the "the file name, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect." Does anyone perhaps have a version of this folder that works, or any advice on how to unzip this properly? I haven't had this issue with any other files from that Japanese site, only this one.

Please help! I'm like 90% of the way to using this mod properly!

Hi, a little late for this but i read in the pdf "this mod is T21 based, which means possible conflicts with other T21 mods such as Mandelsoft's Light Replacement Mod", so im wondering, since the LRM is a dependency, do i only need the props from this mod?

Is it impossible to use this mod currently? Several dependencies have apparently been lost over time.

Finally, someone made a file for right-hand traffic, but for some reason, the street signs were initially displayed on the left side, but now I've managed to get everything working. I had a file called Japanese Sign in the folder that was causing this file to not work properly.

This is such a beautiful mod!!!!  No updates since 2014, so here's how to get it working as of December 2025 -

First of all make sure you have all the necessary dependencies!
For the dead links (Mas71 and Jondor) you can find those files on SC4 Evermore.
All the links I found to Jim's bicycle props are dead, but they're not necessary (I don't use them).

For LRM, you need to make sure it's V4.0 and you can delete the "Replacement" folder and just keep the prop folder - this mod replaces all the Maxis lightposts already. Unfortunately LRM4.0 (also an obsolete mod) has a glitch that makes the streetlights wayyy too bright. My temporary fix is to take the "Maxis Street Cones" out of the LRM prop folder, and using a mod to make brown boxes invisible (not a great idea tbh).

Other things to keep in mind: it's not gonna work on all the extra roads from NAM/NWM, just a few SAM streets, so to see it you have to use more vanilla roads and avenues. Also, if you have the "NOT DENSEN" option installed from Neko's original mod (that removes the black wires) it will break and the wires will re-appear. Hope this information saves time of searching on forums^^

I love this mode, unfortunately - It makes the city file sooo big that it crashes it to desktop.

I guess If I use it I have to have lower quality graphics lol.
