About This File

The Earth

This map encompasses the entire earth and is 100% scale accurate.  This is now possible thanks to an underutilized multi-threading and data compression feature of the 2013 release of SCMapper.  Thanks to the new upgraded version of mapper, what was formerly a long iterative process of translating greyscale color values from geotiff DEM satellite data into elevation markers within the .sc4m file is now a simple iterpolative process requiring significantly less filespace.  (New filesize is X^(1/4) of old filesizes when utilizing the compressor)

This means it is now possible to translate the entire body of Digital Elevation Data into a single SC4 region while losing none of the resolution! (provided you have the ram)  Since I don't have time to render 50 million city tiles, you'll have to live without the render region shot.  I have provided the preview image from Mapper, albeit without the several thousand gridlines so you can actually see it.

Requirements:  The 2013 version of SC4Mapper, 64-bit OS with at least 4-gigs of ram.

Map Size: 40,000km x 20,000km, is scale and terrain accurate.

Installation Instructions:

1.  Simply open SC4Mapper and choose "create region"

2.  Navigate to and select the .sc4m file and config.bmp file you just downloaded.

3.  Save your region and play SC4!

If your region does not appear quite how you want, it is quite possible your computer Needs Moar Cowbell.

Happy Gaming, and remember: the world is a wonderful place, so have a great day.

Fun fact: Earth as depicted in the jpeg attached is actually the world after a 50 meter rise in sea level.

Blunder put this in the discription of his upload-

Since I don't have time to render 50 million city tiles...

Actually this file is not that large. in fact the region is ment for 12x6 large city tiles this means that the size in tiles in the game is actually 4,718,592 individual tiles in size. i have been wanting to play on this region for a long time now for the past several years . a long time ago i seen some person on Youtube.com built up a map like this and they posted pictures of individual areas and i was very impressed by there attention to detail. i also wanted to point out there does apear to be some errors on this map in fact its as if the sea leval is higher then its supposed to be in real life.
