About This File

Philadelphia City Hall is the house of government for the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At 167 m (548 ft), including the statue, it is the world's second-tallest masonry building, only .5 m (1 ft 8 in) shorter than Mole Antonelliana in Turin. The weight of the building is borne by granite and brick walls up to 22 feet (6.7 m) thick, rather than steel; the principal exterior materials are limestone, granite, and marble.

It was the tallest habitable building in the world from 1901 to 1908 and the tallest in Pennsylvania until 1932 when surpassed by the Gulf Tower in Pittsburgh. It remained the tallest building in Philadelphia until the construction of One Liberty Place (1984–1987) ended the informal gentlemen's agreement that limited the height of tall buildings in the city; it is currently the 16th-tallest building in Pennsylvania.

Amazing to say the least!

I didn't really expect it to ever hit the STEX, as it's such a large and detailed structure...it's great to see it there :)!

Might you consider doing a DN export as well?

That would help people using DN ;).

That is just bat archetecture at its best 10/10. You should make a functional city hall version!

As someone who has admired this building regularly in person, I have to say that you did a great job. While you don't feel the awe of seeing it in the flesh, you have done a very well in communicating the general feeling of the building. It has so much to offer visually, the fact that you tried to model it true to life it impressive in and of itself. Really nice work. I too thought I'd never see this gem in SC4. I'd love to see more Philly in SC4 come to think of it.

Hooray!

I am just thankful that the uploader decide to make it available on SC4. Imagine that huge 10x10 lot with immense details, only takes up 5.57MB in space! Only a bat legend can achieve so much with so little.

Well done, and being from Philadelphia, I appreciate this. The gentlemen's agreement on building height, may or may not be urban legend, but I was always taught in school that no building in Philly could rise above the brim of William Penn's hat. (the statue). 1 Liberty Place broke that tradition (or bought out of it..) signaling a short era of building structures higher than Penn, in 1987 (completed build).... 1 and 2 Liberty Place, Mellon Center, and like 6 others broke the barrier, (548ft.) with Comcast Center being the tallest in the state, and 15th tallest in the nation at 975ft (297m).

This is awesome... It would of been better if you would of made it a subway stop like it really is in real life, but it's cool still a tremedous job... thumbs up

Fantastic! I'm building a sort of Philadelphia-ish city and REALLY needed this. Strangely, there are not a lot of old, large city hall buildings out there. This really fills a need.
