SimCity Purists Are Understandably Upset About The Newest SimCity
tagtag commented on Haljackey's article in News
So, it's a different game than what we've come to expect from SimCity. But I'm playing and enjoying it. It's not going to occupy a lot of my time. The thing about this game and others like it is resisting the urge to make a bunch of in app purchases. The games are really cleverly designed. You wouldn't shell out $10 for this game on the front end. But over time you might slowly shell out that much and more with in app purchases. The way the game is designed is to make it easy to play and build a city and get it going...then hit you with things you need in app purchases to get around. Oh, have a nice city? Guess what? Now you need fire stations. And schools. And police. More or less all at once. Very clever from a business perspective. -
What is the large building in this picture Love your town!

Thanks!

I love these buildings. Every one of them. Question: I use the buildingplop cheat a lot, and I can't ever find them...any idea what file name they appear under?

This is fantastic. I'd also like to know where you got the waterline pieces.

Same problem as shown here I presume... Rerun the NAM installer and be sure to check the cooler color texture for the elevated rail alternate implementation in the custom installation. This will wipe out your current NAM folder, and the faulty warm color texture file Yep. That was it. I haven't played this game in a while. Is there a link to a manual for the new NAM? I'm struggling with bridges and highways, etc.

I have a question about the elevated rail. I installed the new NAM and since that time my elevated rail is strangely multicolored. Is anyone else experiencing this? I may be unrelated. If so, anyone know what it might be?

I might have gotten it! Reading around the web, I saw that someone had a problem with Simcity when their soundcard was not plugged in. Checking my soundcard, I saw that no device was plugged in. So, I plugged in external speakers and....voila!!! Haven't actually tried gameplay yet. But it's letting me load regions now.

I'm going to try the last suggestion. Pretty frustrating, because I've done everything I've done on other machines and it's just not working.
-
Well, it's Timbuktu that the game crashes on. It's frustrating, because I've gotten this game to work on another computer with Windows 7.
-
Just FYI, if you've purchased the Simcity Deluxe pack that has the other games in it, those discs don't work. I've been through that. The best way to get a working version of the game these days is download it.

Okay, figured out how to change command line options. Nice to get rid of that intro. Heh. Now the game crashes when I try to load a region At leasst we're narrowing things down!

I actually downloaded and installed a new copy. It looks like I'm okay on the drivers. Not sure where to check the graphics control. How do I change the command line options?
