The Hong Kong / Asia BAT Team Presents

The Mok Tin-Yin Building

(A re-make of the “Yau Ma Tei Currency Exchange Corporation”)

MODEL: Cockatoo

LOTTING, MODDING, CUSTOM MENU ICONS and TESTING: T-Wrecks (Thank you T-Wrecks!)

README: Cockatoo

If you’re clever, you’ll have noticed that this is a re-make of my first BAT ever released, the Yau Ma Tei Currency Exchange. There are, however, so many improvements to the textures, model and night-lighting of the building, that I’ve decided to release it under a different name.

Overview: The Mok Tin-Yin building is a fantasy building created in the Hong Kong street style of architecture. It’s typical of any district of Kowloon, with working class office space in the floors above and ratty street side shops underneath. To add to the realism of this BAT, overhanging neon sings have been added to the sides of the bottom floor, when you plop this in, be sure to make sure that the street sings hang over the streets as they were intended to, otherwise they may get cut off by another building.

Looks great, to me the roof texture/stuff look a bit unrealistic and light. Lots and lots of advertisements in there aswell. 8/10

Well, great remake of the older model. Someone should get a shovel and a broom to clean up that roof. I love all that publicity on the first floor.

Great corner landmark with the adverstising gone amuck. I will keep just the landmark copy since my cities seem to lack enough great looking LM that fit in with the city scape. Thanks for sharing.

@caspervg, Un-realistic roof textures... the roof I've created IS supposed to be in the Hong Kong street style you know, you've never been to HK have you? They don't often clean out the roof space as shown here: http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong/20051018/IMG_2525.jpg Also, for where it's from, this building has a very tame amount of advertising- the streets of Mong Kok: http://www.globalphotos.org/hongkong/20050922/SEPT22-S02-0017.jpg

Looks great, you should make more similar BATs to get a good street scene so we won't have to plop the same BAT to get it.

Indeed someone pointed out the HSBC and 7-ELEVEN sign look awkward. The roof junk certainly look overstuff, but coming from HK myself, I would say that is very normal, especially on older buildings. However, something strikes me that this look more belonging to Chinatowns than in HK, as this is a modern low rise CO/CS buildings, something that is definitely not HK as we have almost 99% highrise CO/CS. Still, the neon signs and some details are hard to discredit, so a 9/10 from me!
