About This File

The Detroit Free Press Building began publishing as the Democratic Free Press and Michigan Intelligencer on the morning of May 5, 1831. Michigans oldest daily newspaper, it supported the drive for statehood, helped establish the Associated Press, and sent reporters to the battlefield to cover the American Civil War. In 1853 the Free Press Began publishing the states first Sunday Newspaper. By its 150th year its staff had earned six Pulitzer Prizes.

This model is based on the current building, located in downtown Detroit at 321 West Lafayette Boulevard. The building was designed by Albert Kahn and built in 1925. It was added to the states historical register in 1981.

Whoa, it's finally out! And without looking at it in the game, I can say this is really a masterpiece; definitely one of the finest additions to the STEX in a long time. Fantastic work, guys, this one will get a very special place in my current city. :-)

As a Detroit native, I want to thank you for doing this building. I love my city and pray that someday it will be respected as it once was. We've had lots of good publicity lately the MLB Allstar Game, the NFL Superbowl, and 2 NBA Finals... all being hosted by Detroit. Not to mention the Red Wings!

If Ford, GM, and Chrysler can all rebound we should be in good shape... By the way, I visit www.freep.com daily to keep up with the city. I am now living in South Bend, In with my wife who is in law school at Notre Dame. GO PISTONS!

Quick note about the flags for non-US peeps: With PEG's OFMN mod, you can select a flag of your choice, which will then show up. So if you're from Brazil, you can use a DFP with Brazilian flags, e.g. as a federal courthouse or whatever in your CJs... You pick a flag, you see it!

forgot, thank you for all the options and for the ease you make it to figure out what is what. Another feature you put into your work that makes it just that much better.

Ah, this is a nice building, love it. Especially the detailing. Fit's in perfectly with the New York 1940 style buildings! But I think there's a typo, both growables are said have no flags? ;)
