Stephen Drive:

The ultimate in R$ realism

This BAT is a tribute to the little details that set apart mediocre work from Maxis calibre.

When it comes to texturing and modelling, no detail was spared. All textures are custom made and there is no visible tiling. Each balcony of the complex is a treasure trove of detail, decked out with air conditioning units, laundry hung out to dry, tables and chairs, barbeques, the list goes on...

In order to ensure that this realism transcends daytime and carries into the night, the traditional Maxis niteliting was done away with; instead I have endured the pains of using interior lighting, meaning that some windows glow brightly with a yellow tinge while others reflect the dim blue iridescence of a TV screen. This also allows the interior geometry to show through.

The style of this BAT reflects the 60s-70s style of construction in Toronto. There are two colour schemes of the model included; a red brick and a yellow brick version.

Many thanks to T Wrecks for Modding the statistics of this BAT to a sensible level.

In my humble opinion, this BAT fulfills the task of merging seamlessly with the existing SC4 palette, while adding new opportunities to the game. But you don't have to take my word for it,  ;)  download away!

This is absolutly amazing work! It's only one little objection. 382 residents are realistic, but c.a 3 times less than "maxis" realism. for 4x2 the game holds fewer r$. Maybe it would be hard-growing one. I hope that it isn't.

Maybe version 2x times higher? (only fine merging 2 the same models) for variety in making housing estates.

Well pitero, I personally didn't tweak the stats myself, however, I have been assured that they are in line with the stats for Maxis buildings of the same size. True, it is 4x2, but it is considerably shorter than most of the default 4x2 R$ buildings.

Beautiful, the pop is in line with Maxis realism, which isnt as off residential wise as in real life

It looks like something is missing on the roof, I'm not sure what. But everything else, unremarkably realistic. I give it a 9!

@meowza: Have a look at 6459978.'s thread - you will see a pic of the original building there. The roof looks just like this. ;-) Well, what can I say about the building that hasn't been said already? Nothing, I suppose. Just brilliant!

This looks a lot like a Toronto building. Could it be somewhere in Scarborough? Looks like something out of Tuxedo Court or Orton Park.

puri3: I'm pretty sure the download is ok, but if anyone else is having problems I can upload it again. woodlm: I was actually thinking Etobicoke when I designed it, but Scarborough fits the bill too

Holy bleep. Incredible. Thank you so much for putting such obvious effort into a creation; not only that, but you've used realistic stats and values. You deserve far more than a 10/10 can show. (The # of residents seems right to me.)
