This 5-lot mall complex takes inspiration from various malls around the Western New York and Pennsylvania region. By taking what were my favorite parts from the Shenango Valley Mall outside Sharon, PA; the Du Bois Mall in Du Bois, PA and the Chautauqua Mall near Lakewood, NY; the Village Crossroads Mall was created for all of you to enjoy. The idea behind this mall is that it is an older mall built at some point in the 1970s that has kept up with the times by trying to keep itself relevant. While many think the shopping mall may be dead, malls can still thrive if they are cared for by the owners and have the right tenant mix. Filling any abandoned anchor stores or at least announcing a replacement tenant typically within a year of that anchor closing is also a key priority. The name ‘Village Crossroads Mall’ was decided by a vote from STEX users a few weeks back. I thank everyone who helped me to pick a name for this shopping complex. User Beware: 5 lots are used for the mall and this will require quite a bit of space in game! Sun Moon Mall, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- This is my own version of the SunMoon Mall from the SC3000 Asian Tileset and is designed to fill the gap in the lack of larger CS§§ buildings available. The cluster of buildings on this lot is designed to look Asian, but will also fit in with Western Style cities and is redolent of a small chinatown district which is found in every city. Such districts are often located close to the city centre in old Victorian buildings that are re-purposed as shops and restaurants. This set of 3 buildings (two from the Victorian Era and one from the mid 20th Century) replicates another rare commodity in SC4: narrow, bustling laneways. In real cities, small laneways are very common. Due to the 16m wide network constraints in SC4, it isn't really possible to recreate busy, tightly packed buildings and narrow pedestrian thoroughfares, so this is the next best thing, and I do plan on making a few more examples of this sort of arrangement in future. The building is offered as a CS§§ growable on a 4x4 medium and high-density lot providing 468 jobs. The benefit of having this size is that it easily upgrades to skyscrapers as your city grows, or, you can make it historic and allow the city to develop around it. Note: the two Victorian-era buildings are available for separate download on sc4devotion.com (obviously without the Chinese liveries). --------------------------------------- STATS CS§§: Lot size : 4x4 Growth Stage: 4 (Medium and High Density Zoning) Bulldoze Cost: § 513 Capacity Satisfied: CS§ 1,864, CS§§ 468 Pollution: 17 (Air)/ 11 (Water)/ 23 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 5/6/0 Power Consumed: 38 Mwh Water Consumed: 451 Gal/Month Building Style: Euro/Chicago/New York/Houston Occupant Group: Medium Wealth Commercial Services Building --------------------------------------- NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: Select the appropriate file from the download. The file suffixed with 'DN' is for those users with a night-time darkening mod installed. The file suffixed with 'MN' is for users who do not have any such mods installed. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. I've decided to embark upon a journey to redo a select few of my previous relots. Next up is just one of many shopping centers to come using existing buildings already made for SimCity 4. If a brand isn't available to use or is way out of scale when next to other buildings, I cannot use it as part of these shopping centers. That is only one of the reasons why I have requested new and updated stuff. I could go on, but you're not here for this so.... This shopping mall is in honor of @Ceafus 88 who has teamed up with me to make NEW retail IF possible and has been willing to put up with my nagging for new retail. (lol) While there are some technical behind the scenes issues recently, I'm very much appreciative of the fact that Ceafus is willing to make some new buildings where and of course if he can. So this plaza is for you! I know the dependency list is long, but blame it on the use of new props including awesome HD trees. Seriously blame it on the trees. The lot itself is on a 21x16 space. There is also two transit enabled road connections. A couple of prop files are also included in this download to allow for this shopping center lot to work. A special thanks to @kingofsimcity for his assistance with that. And of course a special thanks to creators of the buildings used including @Ceafus 88, @Heblem, @SimGoober, and @MarcosMX. Harrods, by Mattb325. --------------------------------------- Inspired by the iconic department store on Brompton Rd, Knightsbridge, Harrods is presented as a CS§§§ growable and ploppable lot for your cities. Please be aware that the present day Harrods has been extended and remodelled a number of times since the main building on Brompton Rd was completed in 1905, so this is NOT a strict recreation, but what I present is faithful to the original façade as designed by Charles Stephens, albeit with modifications to make it more game-ready. I have only modelled the front portion of the building. It must be noted that the present building has completely over-run the old streets of 'Queens Gardens' and 'New Place' and wrapped its way around what used to be known as Queen Street and Lower North St (since renamed Hans Rd and Basil St respectively), consuming the old Hans Mansion block and other buildings in the process. Because these streets run at odd angles and curves, even with the FAR roads and other NAM advances, I felt that modelling all of this would make the building almost completely unusable for the average player. Additionally the original building, aligned to Brompton Rd, was slightly wedged shaped - the old line is still somewhat visible under all of the present day roof additions from Google earth along the Hans Rd façade. Naturally I have squared this off to get this into game, which means that the rear of the building is completely fictitious. The present roof junk and extension of the Mansard roof along all facades is modelled - with slight variations by me - on the most up-to-date renovations: you can compare the differences by using the Google earth program (up-to-date) vs. Bing ?birds-eye/Google maps (out-of-date) to see the remarkable difference to the roof-top in recent years. Lastly, in order to fit the building on a maximum of 8 tiles (which will give it at least some chance of growing), I have removed one set of windows near the turret. Given the lag on my computer, I have also avoided modelling the hundreds of bulbs on the Hans Cres and Hans Roads sides. With all of that said, if you are strictly puritanical about recreations being 100% accurate, then please do not download this. The lot comes in two flavours: a growable Commercial Services and a ploppable, functional C§§§ lot, which is found in the Landmarks Menu. Both have the same stats. --------------------------------------- STATS CS§§§ & Ploppable CS§§§: Lot size : 8 x 4 Growth Stage: 8 (Medium and High Density Zoning)/Ploppable Bulldoze Cost: §631 Capacity Satisfied: CS§ 11,140, CS§§ 2,787, CS§§§ 1,117 Pollution: 50 (Air)/ 33 (Water)/ 67 (Garbage ) Pollution Radius: 6/7/0 Power Consumed: 209 Mwh Water Consumed: 1,871 Gal/Month Building Style: Chicago/NY/Houston/Euro (N/A for Ploppable) Occupant Group: Commercial Services Building NOTE ABOUT DARK NITE vs MAXIS NITE: This download contains TWO model files; one for dark nite users (and other night-time darkening mods, such as Gizmos night-mod) and one for the standard Maxis nite. You must keep only one file - depending on which version you use. If you are unsure whether you have a night-darkening mod installed, then choose the Maxis night version. Regardless of which file you choose to keep, make sure you DO NOT delete the Lot File! If you use the dark nite version, you will need a dark nite mod. This is the Version 2 of the previosuly released Willow Place Part 1. The BAT that I have made of the new shopping complex in my home town of Corby, UK. The centre is part of a multi-million pound regeneration project in Corby and is the first phase in the re-development of its town centre. The complex houses many well known high street shops including Tk Maxx, HMV, Game, Whsmith and more. The complex was completed and opened in late October 2007. This is only the first part of the complex and the remaining parts will be availablein the New Year. There were a lot of requests for a plopable version to be released, however, after playing about with the lot and trying to create a plop version,I was unsuccessful in creating a plop version. The reason was mainly due to the fact that the bat needed a lot over 6x6 tiles. Every time the plop lot was opened in the game, the game crashed and other problems occured. So sorry but i could only make a landmark for this file.
