Ikoma Town - A quick view
Ke|is posted a City Journal entry in Saitama Prefecture - The Port of Japan
• Update #9 || Ikoma Town - A quick view • ############################################################################## • Hello everyone, today we are going to visit another place. Today is the time to visit Ikoma. Ikoma is a small town located in the west part of the Prefecture. It is a dormitory city located across the Yanagawa River. Ikoma is one of the residential and industrial neighborhoods of the city of Nissin ( We will visit it in the future ) • • Almost all of its territory is residential, Ikoma is a quiet place to live, its citizens grow rice or work in the nearby industries of Nissin. Life here is calm and slow, Ikoma is one of the farthest villages from the center of Tokyu, the capital of the prefecture • • Small wooden houses and rice paddies, the most common sight here in Ikoma. The city is located on the banks of the Yanagawa River that flows into the Saitama Bay. The river feeds all the rice fields and gives life to this whole area • • The Taikobashi temple is located in Ikoma. This is a small temple dedicated to the divine figure of literature and research. This small temple is famous throughout the prefecture and a mandatory visit for all citizens • • Here you can see how the modern and the old are always united in Japan. Temples and trains, two symbols of our culture • • Tranquility is something important for the inhabitants of Ikoma, in this image you can appreciate a quiet night in this small city • ############################################################################## Greetings / Saludos / Groeten # Jonathan.- 3 Comments

• Update #5 || Toba - Bay of Saitama • ############################################################################## • Toba is a small town located in bay of Saitama. It has a population around 55.000 inhabitants and as most of these villages located in the bay of Saitama it produces rice and fish. It is located in the South of Handa peninsula, almost where the bay of Saitama begins. From Toba you can reach the new Saitama's airport very Quickly because is located nearby and since the last year is also possible reach Kawasaki easily due the new Tunnel that cross the bay of Saitama and connects Kawasaki with Handa Peninsula. • • Towns like Toba are very popular in the last years, why ? It's quite simple. Here you can find all you need to have a normal life...the transport is perfectly connected with all parts of Saitama and the rest of Japan but life here is much simpler and easier than a chaotic urban area...• • Yes, Toba is also connected with the rest of the Prefecture by train. Trains are really important in Japan and every single village of town must have their railway lines and stations. You can reach from Toba using the train one of the Saitama's central stations in 1 hour more or less... • • The noise from the trains is part of the city, there are trains crossing the city and reaching the train station during all day, there are some trains at night too • • There is nothing really important or special in this town, standard layouts for roads and buildings. Everything has to be efficient here. [In the center of those pictures you can see the city hall] • Toba is also connected by the Highways system of Saitama. • • Some of the streets and areas of Toba, as I said is a quiet and normal location of the metropolitan area Saitama • • This is the port of Toba. Its and old port and in the past most imporant part of this town. Today the port is used by the inhabitants of Toba and it has not an important role in trade of the prefecture, but in the past this port was important to bring fresh fish to a big number of person in this area when the transport system was not that good... anyway the Toba's port is very popular among people of this small town and they love to visit it every day to buy some fresh fish or get some of the ferries to go somewhere in the Prefecture...• • Students and workers, the trains are filled with them and they come from city center every single night... • • The natural barrier that protects the bay of Saitama from big waves makes it possible to built all those big and small ports along the shore. As you can see the protections are not really large. This also affects the number of inhabitants, making possible more urbanization areas along the bay • • Thanks for your visit and I hope you enjoy this update about TOBA • ############################################################################## ~ Greetings from TOBA, Saitama Prefecture ~ ############################################################################## Greetings / Saludos / Groeten # Jonathan.

• Update #4 || East Enokido Rail Line • ############################################################################## • Enokido is a town located between the bay of Saitama and the mountains of Handa. Enokido is a town with around 120.000 inhabitants and it is part of the metropolitan area of Saitama. Today we will visit the East part of Enokido which is mostly a residential zone • • There are two rail lines going through Enokido. One goes through the center of Enokido and the other one goes through the East part of Enokido. Today we will visit the "East Enokido Rail line" which has some interesting views of this part of Enokido • • The rail lines run along the Kasumori canal. This canal is used to supply water to this part of Saitama which has a great number of rice fields. As you can see the Kasumori canal is very close to the railways • • As I said, East Enokido is mostly a residential zone and not just that, Enokido is a old town and some parts still has the old Japanese architecture style, from the train you can see a lot of these houses, they are made in wood • • The Enokido rail yard is located here. There are coming trains from the south part of Saitama, in this part of Saitama there are a lot of villages and towns and this rail yard serves to all those trains which are operating in this zone of Saitama • • At the end of the railyard there is also a freight train station. As you can imagine, this station is very important for Enokido and also for Saitama and its production • • Here in this picture you can see one of the symbols of Saitama, in most of the villages you can find one of those water towers. They were built for a company from Dresden. (BIG THANKS takemethere) • • "DIN DON" Welcome to "Jr Enokido East" station, as always the train is on time • • During the night the trains are still running through the East of this fantastic Japanese town. I hope you enjoy your trip in one of our trains • ~ Greetings from Enokido, Saitama Prefecture ~ ##################### ~ R - E - P - L - I - E - S ~ ############################################################################## tariely Thank you my friend ! Ke|is posted a City Journal entry in Saitama Prefecture - The Port of Japan
• Update #3 || Progress / Handa port & Atayami • ############################################################################## • Hello guys, I hope everything is going perfect for all of you. Today I want to share with you some pictures to show you my progress in the region. I'm working in the surroundings areas of the Saitama international airport and the Handa Port. Most of the time I'm working creating new low residential areas and farms but also I've started to work in the Handa port and its power plant. As you can expect, these progress are taking me a lot of time but I'm happy with the result so far • • This area is very populated and highways, national roads and rail ines are everywhere • • Itayama and villages are surrounded by rice fields. Rice is one of the largest industries in the region • • The center of Itayami, where you can find the market, city hall and several kind of shops... • • Moriyama is less populated than Itayami, most of its surface are rice fields. Those villages are fantastic places to live far away of the noise and chaos of the city but perfectly connected by train, roads and highways with the rest of the Saitama Prefecture • • Green cranes in the entrance of Handa port. This is the oldest Saitama's container terminal, not able to work with large and modern ships • ##################### ~ R - E - P - L - I - E - S ~ ############################################################################## lucasfg3 Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it. sucram17 Do you want to see more ? Ke|is posted a City Journal entry in Saitama Prefecture - The Port of Japan
(Click HERE to get a full size image) • Update #2 || SIAT / SAITAMA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT • ############################################################################## • After some years of work, the new Saitama International Airport is finished. Everything is completed and working fine and the airport is ready to connect Saitama with the rest of the world. In this update we will see all the interesting points of this magnificent marvel of engineering • • The first step was to build a large island in the bay of Saitama. This was the most difficult step but it had to be in a new island, there was not enough space to create the airport inland. (In these photos you can see the final result and how the airport looks) • • The design of the structure is quite simple, The design consists of a long building that is divided into several sections. The terminals are named as A B & C. #Terminal A (Dedicated only to ANA Airlines company) #Terminal B (Dedicated to domestic flights. Only japanese flights) #Terminal C (Dedicated to international flights from other companies) • • #Terminal A ( ANA Airlanes Terminal) In these pictures you can see some 787 dreamliner. • #Terminal B where some Boeing 737-800 are ready to flight to another japanese cities (There is only one flight out of Japan from this terminal, it connects Saitama with Seoul in South Korea) • #Terminal C where you can see airplanes coming from Taipei in Taiwan, Busan in South Korea, Beijing in China and one 787 JAL Airplane which connects Saitama with Paris in France • • The Saitama International airport has all kind of facilities, now we'll see some of them... • • Safety is always the most important, here you can see the fire station that has the most modern vehicles to ensure the safety of all passengers • • This is the hotel zone, here people can find all kinds of services. Hotels, restaurants, offices dedicated to business, tourist offices, etc ... • • The company ANA Airlines has in this airport one of its headquarters, in this picture you can see the new and modern building • • The airport has also a small port, this port is used to supply kerosene to the airport, an airport can't work without kerosene for all those airplanes • • The cargo area is one of the most important parts of every airport. All kinds of packages, postal and courier are sent and received here • • The last thing we will see today is the control tower. It is quite modern and its design is one of the new faces of Saitama Prefecture • ##################### ~ R - E - P - L - I - E - S ~ ############################################################################## sucram17 Thanks for your comment. Saitama Prefecture V2 - Information + Region Map
Ke|is posted a City Journal entry in Saitama Prefecture - The Port of Japan
~ Welcome everyone to Saitama Prefecture. Here you will discover japan like never before ~ Saitama Prefecture is a prefecture of Japan located in the region of Honshu. Saitama has a population of around 5,377,631 and has a geographic area of 8,112 km2 (2,359 sq mi). Saitama Prefecture borders Okayama Prefecture and Osaka Prefecture. Sakai is the capital and the largest city of Saitama Prefecture, with other major cities including Kawasaki, Hatsukaichi, Higashihiroshima, and many other great cities that together define the region and prefecture of Saitama. It is important to state and confirm that this project is not a recreation of any japanese city. I am simply taking some places and some names of the real Japan, as well I am using real cities as a blueprint and as inspiration for my own creation. But this is not a recreation. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Information of interest: A metropolis surrounded by nature: The city and prefectural capital is a vibrant metropolis with more than three million inhabitants where nature, modernity and antiquity live side by side. The region has a young and modern culture that respects and strongly remembers its past. Religion is important and there are many temples scattered throughout the area which we will gradually visit and get to know. The city has a modern transport system, skyscrapers, ports and international airports, and is a metropolis surrounded by sea and mountains. - Economy: The city has an economy based largely on the sea, its industrial ports and the movement of goods around the world make this region an economically positive place. Tourism, business, and Japanese culture are an added bonus that make this region a place with a more than assured future. In recent years, the regional government has made great efforts to bring the region up to the standards of Japan's major cities and regions. - Urban planning and architecture: Large residential areas cover most of the prefecture's land. In fact, the whole region is connected by different villages and towns in which residential houses predominate. The region is heavily populated by old Japanese style houses, made of wood and mostly coloured in different colours. This is one of the characteristics and signs of this region. If you go to the centre of the prefectural capital, you will find modern skyscrapers and department stores. The region does have skyscrapers at the moment, although there are plans to build some more in the future. - A Religious Culture: Shinto is a religion originating in Japan, sometimes considered the indigenous religion of Japan. Along with Buddhism, it is one of the country's two main religions. The region is full of temples and shrines dedicated to these religions. Little by little we will visit and get to know all of them to discover this interesting culture which has motivated the construction of marvellous places all around the Prefecture. - Tourism: Prefecture's tourism focuses mainly on the region's temples and shrines. The Prefecture is visited to enjoy these unique places, such as Sakai Castle or Itsukushima Shrine located on an island in the prefecture's bay. In general, most tourists visit the region for a couple of days, usually including the Prefecture as a stopover on their travels around Japan. Currently, tourism in the region is not comparable to that of cities such as Tokyo or Osaka, but the local government is making great efforts to change this and put Saitama in a higher place. - Transport: The favourite word of Saitama's inhabitants is TRAIN ! The train is the biggest and most efficient transport in the region. You can practically go anywhere using the train. We will gradually get to know all the trains and models running around the Prefecture. The list is very long ! In addition, the city has two airports, a large number of ports, ferries, an excellent Highway system, two bullet train or shinkansen stations, last but not least, the region is also connected by an excellent bus system. - Ports and maritime economy: The region's economy is based on the transport of goods by sea, and its ports are the fuel of this economy. The entire coastline of the Prefecture is full of industrial ports. There are large areas of land reclaimed from the sea dedicated to port areas and there are already plans and future projects to build new ports in the region. Among the ports we can find container areas, gas and fuel ports, ports dedicated to the export of vehicles, as well as a large number of small ports dedicated to food and fishing. - Airports and international connections: The region has two airports, one for local use and one international airport built on an area reclaimed from the sea. Ana airlines and Japan airlines are the main airlines of the prefecture and the country. ANA airlines has one of its headquarters in the region as well. The International Airport is fully equipped to handle flights from all over the world. The city also has a small airport used to handle local flights, which is located in a densely populated area on Sakai's Bay. Little by little we will learn much more about these airports and their management. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Welcome to Saitama Prefecture- 7 Comments
