Here is how they look in game : More details, ongoing and upcoming work in my BAT thread : https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/760845-koumus-bats/ -
Inner-City Compact Expressway / Collector Systems
rob_mtl posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Hey guys! Following up from this thread where I veered a bit off-topic, I've created a new thread to discuss compact expressway/collector systems (aka frontage road systems, service roads). This is a format of expressway that was quite common in early North American urban highway systems (1950s to 1970s), which has since been replaced in many cases by the closed access express/collector systems similar to Toronto's 401. The advantage of the older system is that they fit into tight urban street grids, where city streets can cross over/under highways without the need for elaborate ramps and fly-overs. The disadvantage is that that the collector off-ramps meet intersections with the street grid and that lane changes on these segments require more driver concentration--but they're cool systems that reflect an earlier, denser type of highway construction. Here are two 1960s examples from my hometown of Montreal, the elevated Metropolitan boulevard/expressway system and the trench Décarie expressway/boulevard system: I've been trying to reproduce this using RHW with the NAM 37. There are several limiting factors, but the result is half-decent: The outside collector lanes curve inward on either side of the onramps/offramps, meaning that this system alternates between 5-tiles wide and 6-tiles wide: Keeping the intersections one tile away from the central expressway would probably be more efficient, as more perpendicular intersection could run under the elevated portion, leading to greater connectivity with the street grid. In order to avoid a bottleneck at the onramp/offramp intersection, I transitioned the RHW-6S collector into 3-lane OWR. Ideally, it would be nice to be able to do the collector/perpendicular avenue intersection with a 4-lane OWR for higher capacity. This below image shows what happens when you try: Let me know what you guys think! (expect to see a version of this in my Honestville Let's Play series on YouTube soon!) -

Anyone who has lived in the city knows the problems associated with traffic. Many roads, especially ones in older and historic neighbourhoods are simply not designed to accommodate large volumes of traffic. And it doesn't help as newer models of cars are up scaled from their prior incarnations. The Fiat 500 is the perfect city car! Staying true to it's original idea of a simple compact; having been designed for the tightest corners and narrowest roads, the Fiat 500 thrives where the midsize would never go! About the Upload- There are seven vehicles contained in this zip folder. Each one is a 2015 Fiat 500C. These are Mid-Wealth vehicles, given their average Blue Book value. These vehicles will appear on your road networks. Dependencies? None Required. This file was requested by Titanicbuff and has been made available for all to download!- 12 Reviews

Note: updated - 1x1 can now be built too (hopefully!) Have you ever needed just a little more energy for the city, and the power plant simply takes up too much space? I present... THE SOLAR POWERLOT! It can take up just one tile, half as much as a wind power plant, and make 100 MWh a month! There is also a 2x2 version if you have enough space. Great for small spaces which you don't know how to fill (e.g. roundabouts, empty spaces within zones etc.) and remote settlements, small villages, toll booths and so. No dependencies. This is my first upload so correct me if i did anything wrong. But most important: Enjoy! -
Is this a good compact International Airport?
QuitRage69 posted a topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Is this airport good, it is meant to be an international airport, I know it's small, but it's easy to make an airport take up half of a huge city tile and I didn't want that, if it's not that good, what should I improve on, I plan to add a parking lot.
