So how does ML JPN's canal work? There's a pic here with a transport route on it. (I have the bus stop). Is it compatible with NAM's Can-am? I haven't used that particular set by Moonlight, but I have used other items he has made, and he is very capable at re-texturing NAM items. Knowing that, and reading the Readme, I would say that this re-texures the Can-AM pieces and supplies other canal pieces to be used with it. So, yes, it should be compatible with Can-AM and would more then likely require it to make operational canals. I'll have to try it out to be sure. It looks like a nice set. Edit: Tried out the set. It works as expected. It's a re-texture of the Can-AM pieces to match the water texture of the other pieces in the set. Hmm. The path won't show up or do I need the Draw paths cheat to see it?

Can I install NAM even if the Rush Hour Patch for SimCity_1.dat didn't load properly? Another "Patch Warning: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match." Problem I already uninstalled reinstalled the game many times. I keep getting the "Patch Warning: Old File not found..." for the RUSHHour patch for SimCity_1.dat. I heard that NAM and everything else only works if you have SC4 + RushHour + Rush Hour patch. Patches for the base game SC4 installed fine (I think). No error messages but /SimCity 4/Apps/dbghelp.dll did not get a 2003 timestamp. Also Sound.dat did not get a new time stamp until I installed Rush Hour. But I got no error messages. I have tried reinstalling uninstall many times but still the same. Patches for Rush Hourwere okay except SimCity_1.dat, when getting patched, I got the "Patch Warning: Old File not found." error. I'm not sure if I should get NAM or any mods yet. Should I? I checked region compatibility for both SC4 and Rush Hour. Both are same region, same region patch, and same patch download source. I have NEVER downloaded any mod, plugin, app, ever.My games are 100% EA, Maxis. 0 user content. I did not have the no - cd simcity4.exe (Nov 2003 timestamp) (EXE fix that fixes 95% of the games glitches and problems.) in any folder because I heard that it interferes with SimCity4 patches. So can I still run NAM and get all those nice additions, and user content, mods etc. without any of my files getting corrupted if simcity_1.dat didn't update? It still has the August 2003 timestamp.

Can I install NAM even if the Rush Hour Patch for SimCity_1.dat didn't load properly?
Hellken replied to Hellken's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Exactly. I lost the manual but I remember the entire box and all the content in it was 100% in English. So it's an sku3 +Asia Pacific set marketed to the sku 1 market (same thing I guess might happen to people who buy the Euro version in English or live in a left hand driving country with English copies of the games). I'm pretty sure this probably explains why "Old file not found errors" happen to people who downloaded correctly the region stated in their box. The game is "confused" and ends up glitchy (with or without the patch). Anyway back to my original question, is NAM, BAT, RHW, etc. now safe for use since I just overwrited the Rush Hour patch with a base SC4 patch? Game works fine so far. -
Can I install NAM even if the Rush Hour Patch for SimCity_1.dat didn't load properly?
Hellken replied to Hellken's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
UPDATE: Ok It's simcity4.exe is now at 11/14/2003 version 1.1.638 and simcity_1.dat is now at the Nov 2003 like the other simcity dat files.... ... But Something here DOESNT make any sense.. I fixed both simcity4. exe and simcity_1.dat not by downloading the Rush Hour patches... I downloaded the SC4 BASE ORIGINAL patchover the rush hour patch from ANOTHER region. Yes, that's right! Downloading the BASE SC4 game patch gave me the fixed Rush Hour Nov 2003 update!!! It doesn't make any sense and I have absolutely no idea if doing that will affect my game for the better or worse. So basically my patching process went like this.... Install base SC4 --> Download base SC4 patch for that region --> Install Rush Hour --> Download Rush Hour patch for that region ="No --> Download base SC4 patch from ANOTHER region --> Files corrected and No error messages. So what gave me the idea to download a base SC4 patch from another region over my Rush Hour patch? Both my games are Asia-Pacific edition (It comes with an extra exclusive region FORMOSA so you get an extra region for the same amount of money ) Asia Pacific is under sku 3. So I installed the base SC4 --> Downloaded the base SC4 patch with sku 3 --> No error messages I installed Rush Hour --> Downloaded Rush Hour patch for sku 3 --> simcity_1.dat gets the "Old file not found" error message but just that. simcity.exe doesn't get any error messages but it won't update. Everything else patches perfectly. The regions were all correct right? So why didn't it patch? I try other regions patches for RUSH Hour from sku 1, 2, 3 ,4 , 5. ALL of them gave me the "Old file" error for ALL file updates except Rush Hour sku 3 patch so I was sure I had the right region. BUT Sku 3 Rush Hour patch gave me the "Old file not found" error for simcity_1.dat. But everything is okay except simcity_1.dat and simcity4.exe not updating. I went to view my Rush Hour CD it was Asia - Pacific (sku3). But I viewed the hidden files and one of them was PATCH-SKU1-TO-EP1.RTP WAIT A MINUTE!!!! SKU1 ???? Sku1 is for North America, South Africa, India, Pakistan, Australia, and New Zealand. Why would EA Games do this for an Asia-Pacific edition game? I now download the North America sku1 patch for the SC4 BASE game (NOT Rush Hour) over the existing patch. Voila! simcity.exe updates to the Nov 2003 version and no error messages for simcity_1.dat ! Perfect patching? I don't know and I have no idea if it is safe to overwrite a RUSH Hour patch with a base SC4 patch for another region. What do you guys think? My experiments by trying different patch combinations from different regions prove one thing. If you get the "Old file not found" error but most of everything is ok then it's not your fault. EA screwed you and put the wrong patch in for your regional version because they didn't bother to test any of their CDs for region compatibility with their patches. So I think I finally found the root cause of all these "Old file not found" messages and I'm 100% sure it's EA's fault. And even more, I believe (I'm not 100% sure but I think there's a chance they might be correlated) that this is one of the root causes for people complaining that their Rush Hour versions are buggy: the simcity.exe file for Aug 2003 doesn't recognize other files or because simcity_1.dat has a region messup with or without the Rush Hour patch. This might explain why some people can't read the menu, why text dissappears or is blank, why there's that long hang in between clicking your city and the loading messages appearing, GraphicsRules.sgr error messages, MY Sim tab never dissappears, can't click some Mayor Mode tabs, even more frequent game dissappears and crashes back to desktop problems, etc. The simcity_1.dat which is one of the most important files in your game is probably "confused" with itself. -
Can I install NAM even if the Rush Hour Patch for SimCity_1.dat didn't load properly?
Hellken replied to Hellken's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
Just to clarify... Yes, just a question of terminology. To me Rush Hour was an expansion pack that included the SimCity 4 (vanilla) patch since the patch was available independently prior to Rush Hour being released. Using that logic, the EP1 patch would be a patch for the Rush Hour Expansion Pack (EP). Sorry for the confusion... Hellken, were you able to find the version number from the SimCity.exe file? And did you try a different SKU update? And as for NAM, as I mentioned I didn't dig very far into using it - I was just checking something for someone. Not having the patch may very well be the cause. CaptCity, is it alrite if I just use a different region sku update and overwrite the current patch? If it screws up I'll just restart but has anybody done that? simcity.exe is stuck at : simcity.exe v1.1.610.0 for August 2003 (NOT 1.1.638.0 for Nov 2003) 8.01MB File version stands at 1.1.160 simcity_1.dat refuses to update too. Still stuck in the Aug 2003 version not Nov 2003. I've already tried reinstalling-uninstalling and trying patches from different sources. Same results. I'll try other regional patches and see what happens. -

SC4 has 2 disks but my Rush Hour only came with 1 disk as CaptCity said. I know that Rush Hour has the EP 1 patch on it so I already tried installing ffg: 1) Install SC4 + no patching + Rush Hour + Rush Hour patch = "Old file not found" error 2) Install SC4 + SC4 patch + Rush Hour + Rush Hour patch = "Old file not found" error I have never used any user plugins or user content ever in Sim City so let's rule plugins out. All of it is region compatible, so let's rule the region issue out. Before I got Rush Hour I played the base SC4 and it was ok (Glitchy yes but everyone's is) and no error essages when patching the base game. CaptCity, I experimented with NAM on SC4 + Rush Hour without patching Rush Hour and it crashes to desktop (CTD) every 3 minutes. (Removed NAM after experimenting). I experimented with "Old file not found" error'd patch for Rush Hour, no problems yet (except scrolling and loading is hell). I did not save on both because I heard it can corrupt data since the patch did not install properly. Anyways here are the files with after Sc4 patch + Rush Hour patch GraphicRules.sgr 11/3/2003 20 kb simcity_1.dat 8/27/2003 141,161 kb SimCity_2.dat 11/14/2003 164,637 kb SimCity_3.dat 11/14/2003 112,420 kb SimCity_4.dat 11/14/2003 101,652 kb SimCity_5.dat 8/27/2003 119,505 kb Sound.dat 8/27/2003 119,505 kb Apps folder dbghelp.dll 9/4/2001 475 kb SimCity4.exe 8/27/2003 8,211 kb -
