A thread for the discussion of a independent project to make 'Simcity 5'
Don Bananos replied to Mark Waybill's topic in City-Building Games
Hi Don, I read that Mark decided to pool his skills into Boomtown which has a forum here so maybe posting in there also might be a good idea. Thanks EDIT: Now contacted Buggi. Have a nice day. -
A thread for the discussion of a independent project to make 'Simcity 5'
Don Bananos replied to Mark Waybill's topic in City-Building Games
Thanks to Nuyokcitys bump I stumpled into this thread. Don't know if this project is going strong or forgotten about. If you're still thinking of finding programmers to help you, i'm studying computer Science, and allthough i'm not finished yet. I know Java, i'm in the process of learning to work with Databases and in the near future i'll be learning C++. I would love to help this project along with the coding part (graphics really isn't my strong side yet) I got my studies and my part time job, but i still have some spare time, which I most definately would love to use making this game, or at least helping. Let me know if you guys are interested. -
This is what i'm currently working on, and its a large tile that will be mostly forrest, one small town and a bit of farmland.

Where to build a Train Station
Don Bananos replied to ROFLyoshi's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Do you have a picture? This sounds intriguing. Better yet, here's the Thankyou Nonny, not quite what I had in mind but it looks great. I'll probably use it somewhere else. So I did a bit of playing around and browsing, and ended up combining Simcitler's relot of Ill Tonkso's Birmingsfield Station with a open air subway lot by Frogface. I took MandelSoft's advice and placed it on an embankment extending into the city and TekindusT's recommendation of a terminal, along with my desire to have a through line through this awkward terrain. Opinions? Stunning... The finished part that is -
Zoning Improvements underway following beta feedback
Don Bananos replied to mapboy's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Absolutely, it should be possible to make the lots like this if you want to: Nobody needs a squared garden, they could just make code it so a fence would follow the lot minus fence width, and not in the front. I would do it like that, or at least give the possibility -
Yes it do, it all does. trust me, they don't remove the online requirement for a little part of the game at this moment of development. I do wonder though, I can't remember reading/seeing/others anywhere that it will be possible to play in more than one region. Have a solo, one with friends, one with strangers and so on, at the same time. Allthough I can't find a reason why this shouldn't be an option, I just can't remember any confirmation. Someone know anything about this? Mike {Edit: spelling error} They said each player can have 10 regions at a time of up to 16 cities per region. Nice, I can't remember that. But that's good news. Thanks..

No. Only SinglePlayer (online required) in the "beta". I would have liked to played a little with some friends, but not possible...

I have Windows 8, and SC4 installed. It's through Steam though. Haven't played that much, because i lost all my plugins so its Vanilla, and lets admit it, that's just not that fun. No problems running it though, and no texture problems which i've noticed.

Both are correct. Its an hour per tile, but you can do it over and over while the beta runs.

Got a key today off Nvidias Facebook page. Awesome.. Does somebody remember when exactly the beta starts ? (Date AND time) Thanks in advance

That grass, vegetation and foliage is insane! Very appealing to the eye! It looks stunning. And i love the fact that the train company is called Llama Lines. Simcity style...

SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
Don Bananos replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
There's also a highway running through one of the city tiles, which means we'll need to build an on/off ramp -
MandelSoft Plays SimCity 4 LIVE! Re-runs EP 2, 6 and 8

What software have you used to add extra tiles to your region? Loving what i've seen so far! -
As far as i have understood, the work sites sent out a request for X workers, then it will search for that number of workers along the roads (because the searching is done with agents, as the rest of the simulation): Then they've stated that it will be possible for sims from one city to work in another city. so i guess that the job-request-agents also follow the railway and "Highway" that connects the different cities within the region. Exactly my thoughts. This game have a lot of things missing, (big city tiles and so forth) and i really hope that the game will make enough success, that EA will post enough money into Maxis, so a sequel can be made. With bigger tiles, subway and stuff like that! Now i am just looking forward to enjoying the Glassbox engine, and the way improved graphics (allthough the textures are cartoonish) Mike

Maybe the blue makes it Autobahn, but in Denmark, we have the same sign, just in green for motorway/highway/autobahn, what ever it's called! http://www.gophoto.it/view.php?i=http://engrospriser.dk/fileadmin/engrospriser/Produkt_billeder/SeriQSign/6-E42.jpg#.UG9E0U0xoms

SimCity Vs Cities Xl 2012
Don Bananos replied to vietnam67's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
I've voted SimCity (Its not a 5!!) Simple reason: Glassbox Engine. I really like what i've heard about the engine so far. -
I'm pretty sure this has been confirmed. At least in trailers there have been lots of sims at a stadium. And with the glassbox engine, Sims actually exist and have a purpose, so have to find their way home somehow. It has been confirmed (Im lazy, and won't start looking for a link now) They've said that all Sims will go shopping and using the venues. In my mind that means that, when theres a game at the stadium, Sims will come to watch the game, and that will start the traffic jams (if not you have made your roads and public transportation system well enough)

An idea to alliviate the small size of the cities
Don Bananos replied to Mithrik's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
For the computer to run the game efficiently, i think you'll have to wait a little longer before it will be possible to make such big tiles, especially with an awesome engine as the Glassbox. But i definately agree, i wish the tiles would be bigger too. (my maps is made of only big tiles in SC4, and i could use more space! ) -
Discussion about Always-On Connection to Origin
Don Bananos replied to neurokirurgi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Oh dear god, that post was long! I had to go shave twice during the reading time, and still didn't read all the way through. All the colors just made it more difficult to read. Just to correct you here. Well it maybe isn't the SimCity that you were looking for, but it is a SimCity, just not the next in line. It is a redo of the franchise, and therefore would it not be appropriate to compare the two titles. I for one, am looking forward to this game, and truly hopes it becomes a success, and that there will one day (probably in 25+ years) be a SimCity2, SimCity3, and SimCity4(000? ) redo. Bear in mind that English is my second language, and I am sorry for possible misspellings. -Mike -
What does SC5 have that SC4 doesn't?
Don Bananos replied to Fatherted's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
A way more realistic simulation engine, and that will probably be the reason EA get some of my money. Unless i get into the beta and the game is crap. -
