Help with Clinitol, Mapper and Terraform tools
ScottFTL replied to Sunnyhead's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
You probably need to download the required DLL files. There are many that were included with Windows XP but are no longer standard with Windows Vista or 7. Check the readme file for each program that is not working carefully. Cleanitol and Terraformer both have links to the DLLs that you need to download. Unfortunately, it is difficult to get Mapper working under Windows 7 - but you can use Terraformer for the same tasks. The fix requires moving your default directories. If you really want to try, you can find the information in the forums at SC4Devotion.com. -
SPAM changes the same properties as this mod and more, plus it makes more radical changes so the demand for farming does not disappear as cities develop. There's really no need to install this mod if you are happily using SPAM. This mod doesn't affect existing SPAM farms in any way, but I also don't see any benefit to using it with SPAM. This mod is essentially SPAM Lite - without the changes to agricultural demand.

If one of the lots in your airport menu has a missing icon, nothing that comes after it will display properly. If you find and either fix or remove the offending lot, your airport menu should return to normal.

It's not possible. Buses follow streets and roads, trains follow tracks. You have some control through the layout of your transit networks and the placement of stations, but you cannot create specific routes. Good suggestions. As for subways, there is nothing to control because the one and only travel type on the subway network is... well, subway trains.

The neutral tax rate starts at 9%, but it drops gradually to 8% as your population increases.

Yes, the L platforms still have wooden floors. I had to look up the Early Edition show and the building used as McGinty's bar, but the building is still there. It is actually an old fire station built in 1887. Beautiful building! It's not occupied now, but I'm sure that will change soon since it is in a popular neighborhood.

Normally, I would agree with this point - but the Chicago L system does make 90-degree turns over roads.

Are you making a Fire Landing Strip or a functional Airport? I'm asking because there is complex modding required for functional airports and seaports. Even when properly modded, they tend to conflict with other custom airports and seaports - and by conflict, I mean you can crash and lose a city tile. There are already a few mods to reduce the crime problem. Check out Buggi's Crime Simulator Mod or RalphaelNinja's Crime Doesn't Pay Mod. Please note that you don't need an additional crime mod if you have the CAM installed as it already contains a modified version of the Crime Doesn't Pay Mod.

Your best option would be to use dhamp's No Maxis Buildings Mod v2. It only has blockers for the Maxis residential and commercial buildings, but you can use another mod to block the Maxis industrial buildings. These blockers are much more modular than the other mods out there, so you can block certain classes of buildings like low-stage houses for example. It's good stuff. Just one warning... This mod is partially incompatible with the CAM. If you do use CAM, you shouldn't install any blockers for stage 7-8 buildings. Otherwise, these will override some changes made by CAM.

Does plopping CO$$$ buildings cause CO$$$ demand to sink to the bottom?
ScottFTL replied to jsimcity4's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Yes, you are. Whenever you plop a building with commercial or industrial jobs, you need to make sure that you have more than enough demand for the jobs provided. -
PBGV103: Unfortunately, the SP1 update for Windows 7 breaks PIM-X. The author is aware of the problem, but he has not been active in the community lately. I really don't know if there will ever be a fix, but I don't know of anyone that has successfully run PIM-X under Windows 7 SP1. You may want to check out the support thread at SC4D for additional information.

For the other asking about these walls, they are NOB's Wall Set. Unfortunately, they are no longer available because his site closed. Hopefully, they can be re-released to the community at some point.

Most of them include generic bridge pieces that you plop on either side of the GLR tracks to make a low bridge. If you want a bridge that looks like barge traffic could pass underneath, you would probably have to transition to Elevated Rail to cross the canal. Many canal sets contain overhanging pieces to plop water under something like an El Rail bridge.

rivit's Street and Rail Mods - Support Thread
ScottFTL replied to rivit's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I just installed and quickly tested your Railway Upgrade Mod, and I have to say it is quite an improvement. No more mismatched pieces! It must have been a lot of work, so I wanted to say a big THANK YOU! -
Great job with your recent updates. They are coming fast and furious. I love it!

Blocking almost all Maxis buildings
ScottFTL replied to Terring's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion

Blocking almost all Maxis buildings
ScottFTL replied to Terring's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Originally posted by: terring So there is no mod to block only the original lots and not the custom lots, right? :-(quote> There are several mods that will block Maxis buildings. The BSC No Maxis Files mod can be configured by RCI type. Here's what's available: Residential - R$, R$$, and R$$$ Commerical - Cs$, Cs$$, Cs$$$, Co$$, and Co$$$ Industrial - IR, ID, IM, and IHT You can install one or all of them. Installing all of them will effectively block each and every Maxis lot. You can find it HERE: https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=897 Dhamp's No Maxis Buildings Mod v2 blocks Commerical and Residential only. This mod groups buildings by stages, so you can be more selective in what you want to block. This is useful if you like certain Maxis buildings, but dislike others. You can find it HERE: http://www.simphoni.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=13711 I hope this helps. -
It was replaced by BSC Textures Volume 01, but I don't think this is available here anymore. You can find it at SC4D: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_filedesc.php?lotGET=90

Landmarks, Plotables, Growables, Are These Empty Buildings?
ScottFTL replied to DylinPrestly's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Welcome to the wonderful world of SC4, Dylin! You have to read the description and/or readme for each building to answer your question. Some of them are plain landmarks while others provide commercial or industrial jobs. There are no ploppable residentials because they don't work properly in the game. You have to grow your residentials. -
The police bike will be a great addition to the game. Looks great, too. Nicely done.
