  1. Had the same problem for a short time a few days ago. Found that using the Ctrl+F5 key combo to do a manual Hard Browser Cache Refresh brought me back to whatever was trying to be viewed. This leads me to believe that the Simtropolis server was either sending the wrong data or no data at all resulting in that error message. The Hard Browser Cache Refresh then quickly reconnected to the server and pulled down the sought after information. This has not reoccurred for me in the past 24 hours or so. It may have solved itself or may even have been a more general ISP routing problem. Not an expert on these type of errors but one of these seems to be the logical conclusion. Fortunately the quick fix is a simple one. "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth."
  2. Got a quick SC4 question?... Ask here!

Look to the link below. Once you have the information you are looking for left click on the Network Addon Mod text in the upper left hand corner of the page. This will bring you to the home page of the NAM documentation. Once there bookmark that home page. This will make it easier to return to for future questions. https://www.sc4nam.com/docs/feature-guides/flexible-underpasses/
  3. In English the rounded ends of Streets and Roads are called a Cul-de-sac. Though it is doubtful that this is even an English word. Enough language lessons, on to solutions. Are you using the Network Addon Mod? If you are then the option for Streets and Roads to end in a Cul-de-sac is there to be selected when making your choices of what to install. This is probably the best option to get a Street and Road Cul-de-sac that looks like the ones in the pictures you posted. If you are not using the NAM then try the Search Results from the link below. Hopefully it will lead you to what you are looking for. Be forewarned that the Mods from the Search Results may NOT end up looking like those in the pictures you posted. https://community.simtropolis.com/google-search/stex/?q=cul+de+sac+SimCity+4
  4. Airport shuttle woes

@Dono Late to the party but here goes. The latest updated "Create Your Own Airport Pack" can be found at the link below. Have yet to use it myself but according to those "In The Know" it is the "Bee's Knees" of Airport Packs. It does appear to include the latest and greatest and updated "Airport Shuttle" stuff as well. Enjoy. Hope this helps. https://www.sc4evermore.com/index.php/downloads/download/19-transportation/7-sc4d-LEX-legacy-ultimate-airport-pack
  5. Realism in gameplay question

The key word that is missing from the above discussion is INSPIRED. You could go with the plop method to try and reproduce a city/region exactly as it appears in the real world. This is tough to do without the Moolah Cheat. It would take many, many game years to do without that cheat. It would also be plagued by the constant threat of Human Error leading to failure. You could do a fantasy city/region. As in, does not exist in the real world but is as real world looking as you want it to be. This type of city can be done either with or without cheats. Human Error would still play a role but would not be nearly as critical as in the first example. Another possibility is where, in my humble opinion, most of the cities/regions seen here at Simtropolis are at. Those that are INSPIRED by a real world location but modified by both its creator and the limits of SC4 to be the best that it can be. This could include Natural Growth Timelines where things change and progress as the game years roll by. It could also include cities/regions that are set to a specific time frame, be it in the past, present, or future. Once again this type of build can be done with or without cheats. Human Error is not overly critical here as adapting to what can and cannot be done is the key element. Working without the Moolah Cheat is a noble pursuit and is the way the game was intended by its creators to be played. It is however a long drawn out process that does not always work out due to Human Error. Going beyond that original intent into more of a Sandbox Mode by using the Moolah Cheat can also be truly INSPIRED as it allows for limitless concepts freed from the ever present fear of Human Error. Do note that the possible types of cities/regions posted above are by no means meant to be a definitive listing. The reader will be more than able to come up with many more such examples. They are posted here only to illustrate my rather lengthily and somewhat pointless points.
  6. Map texture missing

Install the following to alleviate this problem. Be sure to follow the install instructions exactly or the problem will persist.
  7. Whatever can be done without an extremely extra amount of fuss and fumbling will more than suffice. If commas cannot be added to just that one set of numbers without sacrificing all of the other comma delineated numbers then living with it shall be the way of things. Coping mechanisms will be applied accordingly.
  8. The Current Jobs number in the top left of the first image has no comma separation for the numbers; 4144 as opposed to 4,144. All other numbers that are beyond 999 are comma separated. Mentioned for consistency's sake and so as to not trigger an OCD incident in myself and possibly others.
  9. Unfortunately my Windows Operating System is also very Old School precluding the use of sc4pac. Just gave it a shot and failed miserably. A new computer should be forthcoming this year once my finances improve. When this happens sc4pac will be given another shot. We shall see what we shall see. Out of further curiosity how are the files placed into their respective folders with sc4pac? Are the files placed into individual sub folders of the main folders or are the files just placed into the main folders as "loose" files? Thank You for the Programming and the Explanation.
  10. Same here, plugins folder organized by Author with lots of descriptive sub folders. No denying that this is a great innovation for those that do not have a very specific organizational structure to their plugins folder and for the ease of downloading dependencies. Downloading dependencies is not something that has ever been a problem for me although it can admittedly be time consuming. Unfortunately the folder structure that is used by sc4pac would only serve to confuse the heck out of me at this point in my life. Fool Goes Old School.
  11. poll SC4 Building Styles Community Vote

Grumble - Grumble Realizing that my desired use here is extremely niche, as in only me wants to use the DLL in this way, my misunderstanding of how this will work turns into disappointment. Hmm - will give it a thought or two and figure something out. Perhaps only keeping older versions of previously released lots that do not have both OG coded into them. That does preclude using any newly released lots that do have both OG coded into them once this discussion settles on a way forward. The other possibility is to finally take the deep dive and start learning lot editing and Hexadecimal so that things can be changed to suit my ends. It took me a whole bunch of YEARS to only get semi proficient at JavaScript coding in order to do similar things in another game. Ah yes, the future holds many wondrous thoughts but not all of them are bright.
  12. poll SC4 Building Styles Community Vote

Confusion If the DLL is in use then any lot that uses both the original OG for the Maxis Building Styles and the new OG to fit it into one of the new Building Styles will ONLY allow that lot to show up in the designated new Building Style? As previously stated it is doubtful that any new Building Style would be used in my game but the option to grow all four of the original Maxis Building Styles at the same time without the change every number of years option is most desirable. If the DLL is going to shift lots into ONLY a new Building Style then the above possibility is NOT an option for any future lots or re-released lots that have both OG coded into them. Is this true?
  13. poll SC4 Building Styles Community Vote

Been following this thread with much interest since the poll went up. It is a lively discussion with lots of good opinions and suggestions. Wanted to contribute to the debate but came to the realization that my contribution had already been made back in September of last year, albeit in another thread. Early bird, worms, most Owls do not eat worms, rodents, pellets, whatever.
  14. Scoty's small tinkering

Does The Blue One need to be updated as well or is it self adapting depending on plugin folder placement ?
  15. Upon reflection the amount of cells used by a specific network in a given city tile really does not matter for anything other than a love of statistics. The true worth is that such networks function properly connection wise, are not overly congested, and are visually pleasing. The x2 thing caught my non math eye and left it wanting a solution. Cori's suggestion of renaming such things as "Right of Way" as opposed to it being a definitive number of cells would seem the proper solution for the moment.
