Up to now I've gotten most of my content through the Steam Workshop. My question is when downloading content from this site, what file should it be put in to be able to use it in the game? Thanks -Dick Wright

What location does downloaded content go in? Thanks, Dick Wright __________________________________________________ Duplicate topic, re-posted here: https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/69095-download-location/

How do you like the new airport?
rewright replied to Fearlessmayor's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Great job with that airport. I am still learning the game and glad to see it can actually be made to look more realistic. Not as good as SC4 yet, but I have hope that updates will help close the gap. -
Apparently some maps default to European style buildings. Anyway to change this? Thanks, Dick Wright

Thank you for responding. I've done a quick read and will give this mod a try when I have some time to work with it. Seems a bit involved with file modding, etc.

In what or which folders do I put downloads like buildings, maps, mods, etc? Is it like SC4 where they go into the plugin folder or its sub folders? Thanks, Dick Wright

Well, it does if I get the content from the Workshop, but downloading it from this site I am finding it a bit spotty. The data file is in a different location than some have described.

I do not understand how garbage works
rewright replied to Zelgadis's topic in Cities: Skylines Technical Help Q&A
I've kept my garbage at bay with running 4 lane avenues to them, and also downloaded a larger incinerator. I have several large trash facilities around the outskirts of the city of 75,000, each having several of the large incinerators. I just keep track of their status and when a trash dump gets full I transfer the trash to an incinerator. I tried the "auto empty" mod but my trash complaints went through the roof, so I just have to manually check them every so often.- 7 Replies

Transitions from Highway Interchange Help

If you look in game on the "Workshop" you will find a ton of great stuff, including some very cool ready to plop interchanges. -

What do you want in Cities: Skylines?
rewright replied to AidanA28's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
A lot of the things we seem to find lacking in the game very well may happen given some time. Think of how long SC4 has been around. The vanilla version was pretty - well, vanilla. Now look at it. My main "want" is more content that allows for increased realism. It will most likely take breaking away from the 4x4 lot size and more real life type buildings. The game has a certain "cartoonish" look to it. Overall though, I am enjoying the game.- 307 Replies

I See Dead People...and Garbage
rewright replied to BlitzPackage's topic in Cities: Skylines General Discussion
Another helper is a mod I got in the Workshop that extends cims lifetimes: they don't die as quickly. That has helped my cities. -
I have only had the game for a week, and have seen quite a bit of custom content. The choices a currently limited here on Simtropolis, so I am interested in other sources. Thanks, Dick Wright

I feel a bit dumb saying this but my tree brush is now working quite well. I seems to help if you "activate" the mod. Duh!
-
Very creative.

Great and thanks. I have found the "Workshop" and loaded a few things. I guess content will increase with time and if the game has traction. One thing I've been looking for a way to "brush" trees instead of having to plop them one at a time. I tried a brush from the Workshop but it doesn't seem to work. Dick Wright

OK, thanks! I've found the folder and put a building in it and it is in the game. So I can now create a folder structure similar to my plug in folder in SC4 to store all my added content? Dick Wright

The appdata is a hidden folder, like system files they are hidden by default in the windows explorer. Go to the windows explorer properties (accessible from any opened folder) and set the hidden folders as visible. Thank you for replying. I do not see a setting for making files visible. There is something under attributes but I don't think that is what you are referring to. Thanks, Dick Wright

I am still a bit confused as to where addons, etc. go. When I look under the C drive I find no file named "App Data". The only place I can find Cities:Skyline folders is: C/Parogram Files (x86)/Steam/Steam Apps/Common/Cities _Skylines/Cities_Data. This is a new ASUS desktop running 8.1. There is also no file called Colossal Order. I purchase this from Steam on Amazon. Thanks, Dick Wright

Great, and thanks! Dick

I agree, this new look is very clean and easy on the eyes. Looking forward to the STEX opening up as I just got a copy of Cities: Skylines and I am looking for new content. Great job to everyone involved, Dick Wright

Some time ago I started getting a screen called AdF.ly whenever I download from the exchange, which causes my malware and virus programs to light up. Is this something that has been added by Simtropolis or do I have a problem? Thanks, Dick Wright
