  1. STATS and VALUES Pack and reference database

You should be given armfuls of trophies and awards for this...truly commendable. The spreadsheet alone is invaluable for us BATers as a template for modding/properly statting the lots we create...a thousand thanks!
  2. Simtropolis Computer Store

Simple is all well and good, but I think this may be TOO simple. The roof looks really low scale-wise - night maps are okay, but too much footage or too many of them can spoil things, when there are other better lighting alternatives...
  3. Another Greasy Taco Stand

Replaces the original? With this huge plaza...hmmm, not for me. Looks too ritzy and nice for low wealth...
  4. Lot Editor - Help

Quick question - I have BATed, plugged-in, lotted, tested and grown a building, but want to change some of that building's physical (non-lot) textures, which would require a re-rendering. Is there a way of doing the re-render, and then pointing the other files to the new .lot file, so I don't have to go through all the same work again of pluggin, lotting, and testing?

And then there's the fact that a lot of storefront churches are actually fronts for not paying taxes.quote> Indeed, the more I modelled and worked on the BAT for "Get 'Em Out" Bail Bonds, the more it was looking CS$. I should make it ploppable as well, as these sorts of places usually spring up near police stations. As for the churches, I agree, it's a gray area - I can see it as a "reward" style, like other churches in the game, but there's always something that seems a little shady about them; I always wonder if deep at the core, there's a con of some sort, like money laundering or like you said, not paying proper taxes. (Kind of like my own BAT for the Church of Simtology, heheheheh.) There's an MP church already on the STEX, and I think he did it justice much better than I could....perhaps it's something I could mull over. Here's the bail bond joint - had a devil coming up with the lighting, I still can't quite get the neon look I'm after...
  6. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Quick question - it seems no one has ever BATed a bail bond place, and I've been doing a number of (non-occult) little commercial buildings lately...should it be CS$ or CS$$? Just wondering... Also considering doing a couple of storefront churches - but wondering if they would be best put in the CS realm of things...
  7. New Age and Occult Pack Volume 2

Yes, per the description, there are nightlights. Stats are in the "read me" files in each folder for each building...since there are five different sets of buildings, each set gets its own "read me." Doesn't anyone look at "read me" files anymore? ;) Glad you guys liked these, as well as the first set...just hope the Church of Simtology doesn't show up on too many street corners...
  8. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Well, I finished them and posted them on the STEX - included in the New Age and Occult Pack Volume 2 are the following establisments (of varying character and respectability)... Bela de Roma Psychic Readings Padre Pedro's Faith Healing Wanda's Wiccan Wonders Feng Shui by Phylis Church of Simtology Test Center Ideas are formulating for a third pack - I intend to beat this horse until it's thoroughly dead again...heheheh. Edited to include pics...
  9. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Thanks, T Wrecks and jasoncw. Sounds like too much of a hassle to properly implement, with little return...
  10. SimTreasury

Well I guess this is better than the last lot you did, where the building explodes...
  11. DK1 Suttons

I'd agree on the medium density idea mentioned by sffc... how do you get those great nightlight style textures? Is that in gmax? You should do a lighting tutorial...
  12. DK1 Suttons

    Less is more! :)
  13. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Thanks for the comments on Wanda's. I tweaked textures and lighting and rendered/lotted/modded/tested it to grow in game, so on to the next one. Here's a question, though - is there a way to mod something so that the presence of one building will trigger another one? Say I have Building A that grows in a city, can I get the availability to trigger for Building B once I have Building A? Does that make sense?
  14. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

Thanks for the thumbs up, all. Here's the textured (but not yet nightlighted) BAT for Wanda's Wiccan Wonders. One wonders whether the base foundation texture might look a touch too limey green?
  15. DLAC and Dmscopio Architecture Consultant

At first I thought this was just a model file - it didn't look textured at all...I agree, we need some wear and tear on the roof, and some junk and vents and whatnot. Right now I think it looks too space-age and squeaky clean to exist side by side with a lot of the Maxis and STEX buildings...

They look great, I have them in my plugins and love when they pop up... Just search "theater" and some good stuff pops up...!
  17. Cheapo Services revisited

Yep the roof is a thousand times better - I don't mind the grainy factor too much, as it does look like gravel. Glad the back has a bit of interest, and is not just flat and dull. Great work!
  18. SimHoTToDDy BATs

Hot damn, HotToDDy - those textures are yummy. Nice and "lived-in" and realistic. Great stuff. I am glad you added to the roof junk, since you said there wasn't much in the original...
  19. Twinkle, twinkle, little BAT...

So I've been plugging away on the second New Age and Occult pack. See attached...I've gotten four of them modelled and two are already textured. Thinking of varying the roof junk a little bit, and losing a dormer on the left and right side of Wanda's Wiccan Wonders...I may have gone dormer-happy. May also reduce the lighting on the porch for Pedro's, it's looking really bright...and I need to play with the neon in the window of Bela's, it's not looking as bright as I'd like... Thoughts and comments appreciated, especially when it comes to texture color saturation...
  20. jimmy2040's BAT thread

Great roof detail and texture. I love how you calculated how many roofjunks you needed, based on the cubic footage of the building. That's dedication!
  21. C4 Industries

And I thought that park with all the helium balloons was bad...
  22. Just a quick note - the links to the Reader and the UI editor at the begining of the "custom query" tutorial are invalid - I found out the hard way as I wanted to install them both, but when I clicked on them it took me to the dead zone. Had to do a bit more searching but finally found them, but should the tutorial be updated with the correct links?
  23. Bus Station phase 2

Well, I guess you were right when you posted the description - it's not "exploding great."
  24. New York City Merto Area

First "Pitysburgh," and now the "Merto" area? I like your enthusiasm, but slow down for a second to spell check! ;)
  25. Weasel Midrise Construction

I agree with the "more props" comments - looks a bit sparse and barren for a construction site. Also, would like to see something like this providing JOBS - especially since it's sucking up 50 power and generating 15 garbage monthly.
