During summer i did some more BATing, but then i realized that most of what i did looked underscaled or overscaled if compared with some other stuff, even though i modelled things more or less to RL, if not slightly bigger - e.g. converting a 25ft or 7,62 mt wide building to 8 mtrs. And yeah, it really pissed me off. But, some people down there made my desire to bat come back, because of what they do (Aaron Graham, Nofunk and Frex, to name a few), so here i am, battered but not dead yet. Those are in the very beginning, though.

Sorry if i misunderstood your intention.Sometimes some people come to BAT threads to rush other people's work, and when i red your post, i thought the worst. I'm glad that you had different intentions, my apologies. Looking forward to your beginning .

C88 Productions | Projects by: Ceafus 88

Yeah, the textures on the rowhouses looks like being mine. They look like needing work, too.I will think about that. -
Looking good ! But to me the glass on the far left of the ground floor looks like it's boarded up or something.. EDIT:And the brick texture on the roof access on the back of the building has a bit too much of "dotted moquette" feel, IMO.

Yeah, by doing it at a lesser standard and quality. You actually have to thank skyscraper and darn, they're actually quite fast in what they do. Want good looking things? You have to wait for them. Still want a way to speed the process up? Take the BAT and do it yourself...that's it.

Nice to hear from you. Looks like a nice building, i will keep an eye on it.

I am rather curious to see a comparison with the Cadillac...ioncannon, by just seeing the back of the cadillac in distance, was able to tell that the Tribune was shorter than the Cadillac. I'm not that skilled, but this thing interests me...would you mind to post the two together (that is, nothing but cadillac and tribune, standing together)?

I'm so insistent over this because i think it would be waay more cumbersome, that's it. I have PIM, Ilives, and other programs...though i don't think i have all the programs you would need to use to modd this specific project. But, what i have, runs fine on my windows 7.Also, never had pbs with Ilives...so idk. Try asking other people with win 7 what they have and how it runs on their system, though. Some programs also have paths that should facilitate things...but idk much about them.Just know one of my programs needed one, and i downloaded it, and then it ran fine.Period .

And i say, again, that you better have to learn how to do it.

"SAM" is a graphic mod that allows you to have some streets that looks different from the standard SC4 street....so, you would have a starter piece, and roads looking as you would like could be dragged from it. So, using this mod you would have what you're aiming for, but probably with more ease and flexibility. I know that modd as a player, but you might try to see how it's made.
-
To be honest, that seems a bit unpratical to me right now...the "overhang" will cosmetically retexture only a short stretch of the road, therefore the player will need to plop an awful lot of them to make things appear uniform. You, as the BATer of those pieces, would also need to BAT a large number of those overhangs in order to get a functional pack. I would rather think about making it as a cosmetic mod for SAM.

Very nice! What do you plan to do with it?

Primitives could have been killed by diseases we could now cure with an aspirin . What to do is up to you...but I think it wouldn't take too much to remodel the the main mass tower ( not the roof and the front canopy). I'm not really confident about a green glass apartment version, lol, but i think you should really do a blue one if you wish . The last building you've shown looks quite interesting. Is that a real building?

What matters is wheter it's visible in game, so you might want to add some more (not much) depht to the roof so that the difference is visible in game. I highlighted the two things because the stonework below the roof but above the windows is not present on the "red" area of your BAT but is present on the green one, and it should be present on both.
-
Crop of your render on left, crop of the original on right. Two areas had been highlighted - in red and green. On the original building they look almost the same, on yours they're different. By "parapet" i defined a wall that extends above the roof line. In your model, the top of the parapet and the top of the roof line are at the same level. You might try adding an hint of blue to the limestone texture.

LeCorbusier's plan included motorways, not railroads...but it would be interesting to see how this one will develop .

The wall is exactly as you modelled it.The top of the parapet is flat. The back of the parapet should probably be flat as well.

Looking really good (and taking shape) Personally i would prefer the design of the cornier balconies as they looked from the drawings rather than how they appear to be right now.- 2,347 Replies

Exactly.A parapet is the part of a wall that goes above the roof line.

I was speaking about the area circled in green. That area is missing it's roof and parapet, or, more simply, you modelled this as a flat stone surface, which shouldn't be.For comparison look at the area i've circled in red...what's different there is that there's a parapet and a roof. This is one of the small commercial buildings at the entrance of the rockefeller center. Focus on the last floor of the building, below the green roof.Look on lower right of the pic. You see, it's set back from the other floors of the building, and, the recessed area is not completely covered with stone. There's a small roof, and then a parapet. As a general rule, each time there's a setback, there's a flat roof and a parapet. Texturing: The "material" is more clear. Now, you might work on the tiles, rather than grout...(slightly) increase the contrast between tiles. The colour is way too pink.
-
IMO, worrying about which maxis building it should match now is more or less like worrying about the car's deodorant flavour even before applying to get the driving license! . The first thing would be to match the colour and "texture" of the existing building, then things can be fine tuned so that they could match well with maxis environment. I think that the limestone might use some more work - darkening, as it doesn't really match the Tribune's colour even in it's brightest pic - and you would do it as it looks "on average", wouldn't you?, and getting the "feel" of the material - it's hard to tell what it is now, as the contrast between blocks or bricks is far too subtle. Other things that might need working on is the fake (or mansard) roof texture, that's probably too dark, and the metal spandrel texture, for the same reason. BTW, you're missing a small flat roof on the gap between the base (that is larger) and the rest of the tower. The base and the main section of the tower are at the same level, the base does not protrude from the tower. But, the bridge and the annex are more recessed, while base is larger, and this creates a gap. Now, that gap is too large to be covered just by stone..there would be a stone parapet, and a small roof behind it.
