The Kingdom of Illium // ISIS Targets the Alliance
SAVAGExPHOENIX replied to SAVAGExPHOENIX's topic in SC4 City Journals
Ladies and Gentlemen, Her Majesty welcomes you back to the Kingdom of Illium, where an unprecedented mission is taking place. The brave men and women aboard this shuttle are on the first manned trip to Mars. They will rendezvous with the Mars Transport Spacecraft (MTS) in orbit around the Earth, then embark on their 13 month mission to survey and, should conditions permit, possibly land on Mars. They'll launch this evening from the White Falls Space Center in northeastern Callia Province. ******************************************************* Well, the time has arrived. Mission is a go. The Illium National Space Contingency has just launched it's 117th mission to Space. Enjoy the view, ladies and gentlemen. -

Thank you all for the kind comments! I'm working on some suburbs right now that will be posted a bit later, but for the moment, here's a news article! Click for larger version. -
Simfox started work on the Russia Tower, but left the community and never finished it. I've decided to pick up the slack. Here's the current work on my own spin of the Russia Tower. I give you, the Greystone Industries World Headquarters! I've still got a long way to go, but she's coming along nicely!

That looks fantastic, Mark!

They do and they don't, Neb. Most planned cities (IE New York and Washington DC) have grid-like or organized roads. Much older cities (IE London, Paris, Boston ect) have much less straight lines, and just grew from small settlements.
-
I can, and I will. There's no texturing yet, and I need to make some minor adjustments, but I assure you, when I'm done with it, It'll look just as good, if not better than the one SimFox created. This is only 3 hours into it!
-
Well, it looks like I have work to do! Fox has given me a couple of reference pictures. If anyone else has any more references of SimFox's work, feel free to PM them to me! I'm about to model out the tower (and actually complete it!) since SimFox has meandered away from the community.
-
I WANT THAT TOWER! I've never seen it before. If by chance you made it, mind shooting the model my way so I could make a minor (private) alteration to it for my CJ?

a teaser of what's coming, very very very soon. *hint: It's animated.* //EDIT: So I finished it. There are still some minor alterations, but after hours of rendering the intro background, I finally have a good layout for presenting the scores! I've got some AIN member opinions, how about the rest of you? (best watched in 720p, as that's the highest I could render without serious lag) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q_9u0dqcDU -

I'm now re-building Highland Village, a suburb on the northern end of Illium City... starting with the Westlake Country Club.

I'm glad you like my suggestions! If you'll take some more, I have a few. I don't know if you've looked into the USL (Universal Street Lighting) mod that makes your light cones more realistic, but if you haven't, you should. Another one (one that I really should start doing as well) is to disable shadows during your night shots, unless you want a really strong moon that night, which the Maxis Night is perfect for.

I had actually tried that at first; my plan was to have the entrance from the ramp but also a tunnel to get there. However, I opted for no tunnel because it would take up more space; I couldn't seem to fit it in very well. I'm reconsidering it, though, since I do think something needs to be done to complete the access here. Trucks shouldn't be a problem since they already can exit through the ramps, and they never go the opposite way (into the factories) in SC4. Well, cosmetically, I'd just add a FLUP piece with subway connections to allow passenger traffic to get to work I love FLUPs because they're so compact and work pretty much everywhere. I'd love to see what you do, though, regardless of how you do it.

Are those beach props MMP? 'cause I've been looking everywhere for some.
-
That's pretty phenomenal. I'd say just use a tunnel if you could. If it wasn't factories, I'd say use the FLUP with subway connection but that only works with passenger traffic.

I was just on XLnation all day today. I had no problems with it.

I love your parking lots. I need to find myself another good set. I also like the business-as-usual atmosphere! Reminds me very much of the business districts in the North DFW area (particularly around Plano/Frisco/Carrollton area). The only suggestion I really have is maybe add a few restaurants around. Restaurants and other food businesses THRIVE off of the lunch and after-work food rushes in crowded commerce areas like this!

Not sure how I managed the +10 with only a single update after like a year, but I'll take it. Hopefully my next update will help

wow, this is beautiful. I love those marinas. I followed up on the links that you posted for the dependencies on the Marinas. Only ones I couldn't find were Youcef's props, hopefully that won't be too important. SC4 needs more yachts and larger boats. We got huge ships, and we have a plethora of smaller boats, but not very many midsized boats of 50+ft or more. Also curious, what water mod are you using? I use the Brigantine (sp?), but it doesn't have a very good transparency depth.

The Kingdom of Illium // ISIS Targets the Alliance
SAVAGExPHOENIX replied to SAVAGExPHOENIX's topic in SC4 City Journals
Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to Illium City's bid for the 2014 Alliance Games! Her Majesty, the Queen of the Kingdom of Illium, Skylar Nichole Sariah proudly welcomes you to our great Kingdom. On behalf of our Monarch and Leader, thank you for your consideration! As per bid guidelines, here is what we have to present! • It must be a city of at least 100,000 inhabitants | Illium City's population is 1.4 Million and growing! • It needs an adequate stadium | The AIN Games Complex is home to a half dozen stadiums and arenas • Your City needs an airport and well developed Mass transit | It has passenger and high speed rail running from the Airport, and a very thorough bus and metro system. • Your Bid needs a logo and a slogan | See below! • Your City needs adequate accommodation for athletes, spectators and journalists | The Arts/Suites district is home to "Hotel Row", a row of luxury suites and hotels able to house roughly 35,000 guests. The Complex's proximity to downtown and the Embassy Complex allows for quick access to more hotels and suites nearby. The City has invested heavily in housing for nearly a million visitors. Here is our logo! Here's an overview of the games complex. You can see our multiple stadiums, the rail station, and the districts and parks. (Click for MUCH larger view) Here's a view of a portion of the complex at night! Here we have the Arts and Suites Districts, home to Hotel Row, a small but popular beachfront, and the Opera House, with a beautiful coastwalk vista. Here we have the HSR terminal on the north side of the complex. This HSR terminal connects to both Downtown, the Embassy Complex and Sariah International Airport. -
90% of them are downloaded and "plopped" and quite a few of them use money cheats or cheat lots. It's more art to us than it is a true simulation.
