So I almost completely redid 333 wacker over the last few days, and I think that this time you guys are actually going to get it. I was experimenting a lot with glass and ground planes, and I think I may have gotten a winner. The first 3 pictures are going to be the ground plane that is most recent and the last one is going to be previous iterations of the ground plane. And these are going to have much worse glass than the ones I just showed, but I don't have time for more renders. I want this BAT to be my best so far, so could anyone with time on their hands take a look at each picture, and starting from the top slowly make their way downwards and note whenever they double-take or get caught up looking at something and then post what it was so I can fix it.

This is looking much better IMO. I agree with Darn, the glass isn't "perfect" but don't get too hung up on it, it's really close. In my experience any building that doesn't have perfectly square N-E-S-W sides is incredibly difficult to get right anyway, there's something about the way non-standard sides reflect the ground plane that makes the ground plane image really noticeably jump out. Distorting the ground plane seems to be the only way to get around this, but there's a subtle art to it. Can't wait to see the rest of it completed. In summary, looks great

Ok.. are you ready? Nah, it looks really good as is, but if you want a picky eye for detail to pull it apart, here's some things I found: There's many inaccuracies with the roof, are you going for real-life-ism or just modeling realism? In general I'd say most of the roof junk looks like it needs something more.. not sure what, but they look a bit like little candies at the moment. Have a look at Darknono's roofs, he has a real knack for it, but not sure what his secret is... In terms of the glass, I'd say it needs to be a lot darker. This building is probably going to be the hardest to get looking right. Every angle is represented and its a mid-rise, so the normal ground-plane method used for most BATing IMO does not work. It's reflecting the tops of buildings when its not very tall and that detracts severely from the realism. Not sure what you thought of the glass I did for Crown Metropol, but its not dis-similar in that its mid-rise and curved. I tried an experimental technique of modeling the surroundings using low-poly structures and pasted-on textures hidden from the camera, to try and simulate what it would really be reflecting at that angle. Maybe you could try something like that? I think those whiteish glass panes that appear throughout the building look a bit flat and lifeless, do they need more reflectivity? I think I'd try bumping up the reflectivity in the tiles on the ground as well, just a bit, they also look a bit lifeless. Anyway, that's my two-cents worth. The biggest thing to fix is the roof, that's what's detracting the most from true realism IMO. Great work as always

Okay, I finally finished this sucker. I've been working on it sporadically for, I don't know, the past few weeks. Anyway here it is: Zoom in: So yeah, this is on a medium-sized city tile, so it takes up the SW quadrant of the tile. I basically sketched it out on paper beforehand and tried to replicate it as well as I could in-game. I had to sacrifice a connection from eastbound to southbound because it was just too much of a pain to try and fit in (I wanted to have a cloverleaf loop ramp), and it would probably work better once I have a certain feature that will be available in NAM 33. The highways going south and the one going east meet up again in the city tile to the south, so it's not a big deal to be missing this one connection. Although there was much rage-quitting after an hour of work on this interchange, no computer equipment was harmed in its construction.

I can't put my finger on it but I think something might be wrong with your rendering settings. I think your renders might be too blurry.

I think the way the glass reflects the ground plane is really good now. However, I'd like to know which ground plane image are you using now. The reflections are very subdued now, much of the building is very dark. Maybe the culrpit is the ground plane because it has too many darker spots?
  21. 2 points
Alright, I'll bite. (No, that's not the title.) Highway Creek. Though I feel like I wanna explain... I was playing with MMPs the other day inside my test city (where everything keeps changing), oblivious to this challenge. I long since destroyed the thing in my city, but I just so happen to have a screenshot of it still saved in Inkscape days later. (Let that sink in... Inkscape. Not Photoshop or GIMP or Paint.NET.) And this is just me fooling around in a test city; no dedicated playthrough city whatsoever.

It's actually quite easy to implement something like that given that there's already a basic framework for it all: Elevated Rail over Avenue/RD-4. Copy the RUL1 entries into the Monorail RUL1 section, and then do a simple model swap, path reassignment, etc. Though, practically speaking, which is much more practical and easier on the end users: going on adding more new features to the NAM whilst ignoring the immediate issues of implementation and stability, or focusing on the issues of stability and implementation, and taking what's learnt and applying it to all other developmental fronts? This is basically why RHW development is the current priority for a lot of NAM development, and in fact, a lot of other NAM developments are based off of what was implemented by the RHW. Because once you figure out something in RHW, you can implement it much easier for any other development. Dual networking is an odd exception, however, and the only "RHW analogue" is, as mentioned, Elevated Rail over Avenue/RD-4. There's still a few things missing on that front, and there could very well be a way to condense all of the TRAM, for that matter, to use what ELR over Avenue has implemented.

Welcome Back! Autumn has arrived. Let's go check out the colours. Tweaking the update design slightly and experimenting with fewer captions. Stay tuned for more potential "tweaks" and where captioning will head. Small intensification projects in quiet neighbourhoods. Breaks up the landscape nicely, and these condos certainly have a nice view of the fall colours. A few houses being rebuilt in this neighbourhood. Plenty of good colour here. Lots of open parkland, large lots makes this area very desirable. coolwiththecool2 Having those was actually by accident when I re-installed the NAM. So far I've kept them as I like the look of them. We'll see if I keep them as I begin to pickup TuLEP use again. mb1.0.2 Thanks! Glad you like the update, hope this one was enjoyable too. UndercoverNinja12 Hehe, my CBDs tend to look like that. Especially when I tweak photo lighting. NielsC007 Thanks, glad you think so! Schriefer Thanks, this has to be one of my favourites I've built. Not the biggest, but one of the more realistic ones. portlandexpos04 Thank you! I try to add a bit of light/more vibrancy to the photos. Sometimes the pics just don't quite look right unaltered. Hope you enjoyed this update too! qazzy1122 That is certainly a possibility in a little while. I'm still cleaning up some glitches in this (and other) city tiles, so a city-wide view isn't quite ready just yet. sarthakknight Thanks! That building is a stunner, for sure. Looks great in many cities. simmytu Thanks, glad you do. Hope you liked these too. Benedict Thanks for stopping by and the BTT update! CapTon Updates have been sporradic for sure. Likely will continue to be. We'll see if some of these tweaks and some future ones could help upload frequency. And glad you think so, it's nice to know that people still enjoy the updates even with huge waits in-between. LnX Thanks! The census updates are always amongst my favourites. coolwiththecool2 It certainly is! It's sprawling like crazy. Such sprawl. Much lost. jmsepe Thanks for stopping by here and SC4D, look forward to seeing you here in the next year. vinlabsc3k Glad you've been enjoying them! kelistmac Thank you, happy to hear you think so! coolwiththecool2 & Schulmanator Thanks for your feedback re: the survey. I have an idea of where I'm going. May end up being a "none of the above" with some of the ideas in there tossed in too. We'll see. Kifflom12 Happy to see you again! Hope you'll keep stopping by again. Things certainly have grown in Holt since your last visit. Thanks For Visiting!

Apparently my anti-aliasing settings were really jacked up, I'll put those to normal levels and that should fix the blurriness. Reddon: Thank you very much for that, you always help out so much with these things. I'm going to experiment a bit more with the ground plane and different mediums to work with. As for the roof, I took a second look, and you're right, there are tons of stuff that just aren't right at all. The roof junk was the only part that was left largely untouched in the remodeling, everything else is brand new. Weixc: I plan on doing a diagonal version as well.

If the picture is first entered and is on it's first round, then yes. The same picture will have to go on for four total rounds and win them all consecutively. They can't be broken by losses. So in this case, kelistmac won his first round, and 47ply entered soon after. He gets to compete with kelistmac's picture for his second round, in which, if kelistmac's picture wins, he moves on to his third round out of four for the HoF title. If not, and 47ply wins, he gets his first round win, and moves on to his second, with another competitor. Only until someone's picture completes a win of four consecutive round can there be two new competitors. Refer back to the Voting and Competition guidelines at the start of the thread and read it carefully for further clarification. Also, for any of your questions regarding the competition, do remember that we have a thread for any concerns or questions you need to discuss: . This competition thread is not for questions and we really would like it to be restricted to the competition and comments regarding the competitor's pictures.

This isn't possible and won't happen Canada will just send an angry letter detailing how angry they are, asking the group at fault not to do it again. If the group does it again, PM Harper will pay the sitting U.S. President and joint session of U.S. Congress to send American military to take care of the matter. The worst Canada has ever done to any group or person was ban them from Canada and/or issue an Interpol warrant. Costa Rica only having a coast guard, still gets even.

Question: do you use a HD terrain mod? If you do, it will crash immediately in software rendering mode, since software mode is unable to handle textures greater than 256x256 pixels. If you do, remove that and try again playing the game in software rendering mode.

Have you noticed the "hole" on the first roof should have the same ground applied like the rest of the first roof. What I mean is that the slight socket on the roof isn't supposed to start on the edge. Also about the reflections. I don't know how much you want this to be the original Wacker Drive because if you want it to be very, versy realistic you have to think of what it is reflecting. Basicall you can just see the street and Chicago River so I guess it would be better trying something wi an easier ground plane and just play around with its settings instead of changing the glass itself.

Well, something that just came to my mind: wouldn't it be possible to add a modifier to the ground plane giving it some waviness. I'm not entirely sure since I haven't 3ds opened and I didn't work with modifiers at all but I can think of something that is often used for flags.

It's "Capacity satisfied". In your case you see two value pairs because you are making an R§§ building. The number 32 to the right is the regular R§§ capacity, the number 56 to the left is the capacity when the building has dilapated to R§. Just left-click on the line, and you should be able to edit both values.

One prefab would take probably a few weeks, accounting for real life. To account for every possible permutation of networks would take... Take the sum of all of the L0, L1, L2 networks, including asymmetrical RHWs and multiply it by the sum of all of the Road, One Way Road, and Avenue networks, including NWM networks and TRAM networks and RHW-2, including L0, L1, and L2 variants of all of those networks except for the TRAM networks. Multiply the product by 4/3, and multiply that number by one month per prefab. RHW-2, 3, 4, MIS, 6S, 8S, 10S, 6C, 8C, RHW-"5S", RHW-"7S", RHW-"9S", RHW-"7C" = 13 networks. Road, One Way Road, Avenue, TLA-3, 5, 7, AVE-2 and 6, RD-4 and 6, NRD-4, OWR-1, 3, 4, and 5, TIA, TIR, and TOR, RHW-2 = 19 networks 4/3 = Four directional permutations (orthogonal×orthogonal, orthogonal×diagonal, diagonal×orthogonal, diagonal×diagonal), and excluding combinations that would result in both networks being on the same height level 13×19×(4÷3) = 329 permutations. Assuming that 5 months out of a year are usable for the average NAM Team Member to devote toward NAMdev, and it would take 66 years to create every possible permutation if one person were to do all the work, without any other assistance. Where would you put it all, and how do you get a user to tab through 329 puzzle pieces? Now, take that same number of RHW networks, exclude all of the asymmetrical combinations of networks, and assume you were to only work on just the Type A1 Wide Ramp only. How long would it take to make every possible ramp? About a day to a week, depending on the amount of debugging and texturing that's needed. How long would it take to make the height transition that's needed? Also about a day to a week, probably a little more, so let's just say that all of that work will take a month. One month of work to get over 30 ramp interfaces versus nearly 800 months of work to get every possible permutation down. There's another alternative: Flex the Prefabs. It takes everything that you've already made and unifies them into a prefab (or part of a prefab) that is an entire Flex piece. No need to place down miles of anything, or even search through hundreds of puzzle pieces in three or four different places. Everything you need is already there. (Thing is, we've already done so, but not many people have noticed.) Ah ah ah!!! This is RHW we're talking about, not IRLHW. I'm not involved with IRLHW. <Cue laugh track>

This is plan of the Krosinsee public transport system. It features three bus lines (Buslinien) B1, B2 and B3, and one ferry line (Trajektschifflinie) T. B1 operates on 20 minute interval on workdays between 7:00 and 17:00, rest of the time on 30 minute interval. It doesn't serve the Gewerbegebeit Krosinsee-West, Süd stations on weekends and public holidays. B2 operates on 15 minute interval on workdays between 6:00 and 20:00, rest of the time on 25 minute interval. B3 operates on the same intervals as B1. On weekends and public holidays it doesn't serve Gewerbegebeit Westwald, instead it goes from Flüsstraße directly to Eisenross Hotel (via Neubaubrücke) where it ends. T operates only on weekends and public holidays, between 8:00 and 20:00. It doesn't operate at all from 9th September to 2nd May and during bad weather.

Yep, it's Philly. The transit maps provided by SEPTA are complete rubbish, so I decided I'd try my hand at redesigning the system. (I think if we were to discuss SEPTA's transit scheme we'd have to start a whole new thread, because it is so messed up.) As for parallel lines, I figure 5 is doable, and shows the frequency, so I used parallel for the Trolleys, but I combine into one line for the Regional Trains. so here's another WIP Edit: also, that Riga map is just ridiculous
