Our trip to London continues with another look at its incredible skyline. After taking a look at Canary Wharf in the first update, we're taking a look at London's other main financial district - The City of London, also known as The City, along with The Shard today.

One of the city's most distinctive skyscrapers is the 591 foot tall 30 St Mary Axe (also referred to as the Gherkin, due its resemblance to a cucumber). Since opening in 2004, it has received many awards for its unique style and ecological footprint.

Another rainy day with three of London's tallest buildings - Tower 42 (Completed 1980, 600 feet tall), 99 Bishopsgate (Completed 1976, 341 feet tall), and 122 Leadenhall Street (Completed 2014, 738 feet tall - also known as the cheese grater).

The Shard has become one of London's most recognizable buildings since opening in 2013 - rising 86 floors and 1,016 feet tall, its the tallest building in the United Kingdom and offers breathtaking views from the top.

Did you make that fractionally angled boat yourself?

(I was just lamenting earlier there isn't  any kind of ship even on a 45 - which would look much better at the mouth of the bay at Manta)

The cranes  give a good feel of London nowadays -- busy, building, rebuilding... But I must confess I also feel a bit lost in the skyscrapers' kerflfufle, however grand they are *:) .I walked around London recently and didn't get that crowdy impression. Then again it was not so much in that part of the city, which I only saw from a little distance. I hope you will regal us with some of the older parts of the city too ! (and a pity we can't do London new bridges in SC4 -- they are so spectacular at night...)

Love the detail of the Routemaster on London Bridge, and the City skyscrapers are very good - though may I nitpick? With the tracks around London Bridge stations, I would recommend using the Viaduct rail from the NAM, rather than the elevated rail. Unlike the DLR in the Docklands, which was built in the 80s (and very closely matches the style of ELRAIL), the tracks around London Bridge and Borough Market are much older, and would better match the viaduct brick textures imo. This would also have allowed you to use different automata for the rail (Blue Southeastern trains, rather than red DLR)

Sorry, that's me being very picky, but as always, very good!

Wonderful entry - I have missed so many excellent entries before it :ninja:! It's amazing to see you tackling the cities as well, and I really love the fact that the FAR skyscraper you created reflects the gherkin....nicely done!

Impressive once again. I really love the City of London district and its mix of old and modern buildings. That and the elegant districts of Mayfair and Kensington, among others, makes London one of my favourite cities in the world.

@TekindusT Thank you very much! *:)

@tariely Thank you! In the next London update, I'm covering all the big landmarks so you'll get to see some of the older parts of the city *:)

@_Michael Thanks for the nice words and feedback *:) Yeah, unfortunately on that part I sorta forgot to use Google Street View, you would definitely be correct *:P I'll be sure to take that into consideration in the future though *;)

@mattb325 Thank you very much! I'm working on lots of other cities too so stay tuned *:)

@raynev1 Thank you very much for the nice words!

@SS3K Thanks for the comment! I actually found an okay model of the Houses of Parliament online which I made into a BAT for use in the game, for the final update. It's not perfect, but it gets the job done.
