London - Canary Wharf

London is the capital and largest city of England and the United Kingdom. It's a city known for its culture, history, and traditions - and is one of the world's most visited cities. Additionally, it's one of the world's greatest commercial, financial, and industrial centers - and is widely known as a truly global city.

Over the next three update updates I'll be covering some of the city's most incredible sights and landmarks - starting with Canary Wharf.  This major banking district is located on the Isle of Dogs on the banks of the River Thames - and has been home to some of the busiest ports in the world over the years.

Today, its best known for its incredible collection of skyscrapers like the 771 ft tall One Canada Square (lower middle below, with the pyramid top), 655 ft tall 8 Canada Square (HSBC Tower, lower left below), and the 655 ft tall 25 Canada Square (middle skyscraper below, citigroup signage) - which are among the tallest in the United Kingdom.

Very accurate! (I also note the LHD :P )

Love the integration of the DLR, and Canary Wharf tube looks very good. Crossrail station would have been a difficult addition - I imagine it would have needed a custom BAT - so I'll let you off there

The next two parts intrigue me - there are lots of parts of London I'd love to see 'korvered' :P

So far, you have my Londoner seal of approval!

Wow! Modern buildings got the full 3D treatment, the clouds, rain and reflections even add depth.  Magnificent work.  Now THIS! is a true City Journal. *

A Korver's entry that looks like SimCity 4?? What happened here!?

Yours is always a gorgeous treatment, but to see something that looks feasible by simple humans is also recomforting...

So much detailed, the reflexions, the water,  those parks, the rain...

I wonder how long does it take you to make a single journal.

Nice work!!

I don't like tall buildings. I love the city in six floors. It's my choice. But I like these pictures ...

I like Your works on Simtropolis - this is tremendous !!!  *:thumb:*:thumb:*:thumb:

Fantastic work buddy..!   I like all the shots, but I do especially like the ones with rain.
(I noticed you even got some construction cranes in, too - seems like there's always something being built there.)

Thanks for sharing!  :thumb:

Yep - that to me looks like the development at Billingsgate Market - all linked to Crossrail (opening 2019)

In fact, while the Isle of Dogs was redeveloped in the 80s and 90s, the rest of the East End is still undergoing massive developments from being an industrial and trading hub in years gone by to mainly residential areas today - especially around Silvertown and London City.

I do love the rain.  I don't know why, but there's just something very satisfactory about it.  This shows that.  The rainy day pics, appropriate for London, are beautiful.

Again, wonderful job. Looks stunning. :thumb:

Love the choice of buildings you made. Those near the Zurich midrise in the last pic, are all of them mattb325's? I'd be particularly interested in the one in the corner by the canal crossing and the leftmost one in the same side of the canal. Thank you in advance!

@TekindusT Thank you very much! *:)

@_Michael Glad to have the seal of approval *:thumb: Yeah, that station would had to have been been a custom BAT and unfortunately my BATing skills aren't *quite* there yet. Thanks for the comment!

@RandyE Thanks for the nice words! Glad you enjoyed the effects *:thumb:

@huzman Thank you! I hope to do some in the future after I complete this massive batch of updates.

@matias93 Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoyed it, I have lots of other updates similar to this one coming up in the future *;)

@Fantozzi Glad you liked the reflections *:) Thanks for the comment!

@Angry Mozart Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I don't really pay much attention to how much time each update takes, but it does take up a big chunk of my free time.

@tariely Thank you! There's still a couple more updates to go with the remainder of London *:)

@The British SausageThanks! Unfortunately, I'm busy with lots of other updates so it's unlikely. You should give it a go yourself though, that sounds like a great idea for your CJ *;)

@mike_oxlong Thank you for the comment! Glad you noticed - didn't want to forget that detail *:)

@kingofsimcity Thank you very much! *:)

@Silur Thank you! Glad you liked it *:)

@RobertLM78 Thanks for the nice words! Yep, I love construction scenes, they seem to be so busy and full of life. Lots of construction going on too in the city so it was a good choice *:thumb:

@_Michael I knew there was some sort of construction going on there but I wasn't 100% sure what it was - thanks for the clarification *:)

@Mr Saturn64 Thanks! I agree, they do seem to go well with each other *:)

@SC4L0ver Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I think most of those beautiful BATs were made by mattb325. The Zurich one can be found here and the corner one I believe is located here.

@kelistmac Thank you very much for the nice words!

@VicRusty Thanks for the comment *:D
