Hi Raymond!

Thanks for welcoming me.

We are all 'newbie' when it comes to plan a new city!

To be honest, Everytime I start something new, I still got the same chills and thrills my Amiga 500 gave me back to the times...

Have a nice day!

Hi @fkappa and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

CB here, and I've been on mayoral duty since 2012, although I first played SC4 a few months after it was released. Being my first city building game, it continues to inspire me to this day. It was truly a game changer once having discovered the community, and you'll find how there's so much to learn and discover in a world of imagination and creativity. For you and all new mayors, we hope that you enjoy being here as much as we do. This is such an amazing community which continues to thrive.

Hiya, @fkappa. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

I'm Cori and for SC4 I'm a later comer to the Mayorial party. While I did get the game within the first year of release, my comp at the time didn't have enough oomph to run it well. I placed it on a shelf and when the Rush Hour expansion was released, I bought it and added it to said shelf. Then towards the latter half of 2015, I tried again and was pleased with how well it ran all those years later.

Hi everyone,

I'm Gustavo Calegaro, Civil Engineer born and raised in southern Brazil. I'm 28 years old, SimCity player since 1999, and a big fan of the franchise till the SC4 DE. Because as a matter that SC Societies and the SC 2013 was badly reviewed, I didn't bother buying or playing them.

I've been registered in Simtropolis since 2011, but due to a path I've chosen to follow in my life, I've stopped playing SC4 and became inactive in the forum as well, until now.

By getting a GOOD price discount in SC4, on Steam, recently, I decided to buy it to revive my good old days playing this remarkable city builder, on a pirated copy, when I was a teen. Looking at the full price of SC4 I would never buy it, paying R$ 60,00 (I know it's not too much converted to U$ Dollars, but here in Brazil, it is expensive and can be compared to a small publisher's releasing game). Anyway, Electronic Arts are controversial, and ask a high price for a 17-year-old game is no way!

I'm eager to share my experience and add positively to the content posted on forums by the community about SimCity 4.

But now I'm looking for cool plugins and addons, specifically something that includes new biomes, different kinds of vegetations, and geographic formations.

:)

Hiya, Gustavo. Welcome to Simtropolis. *:)  (I'm glad that part was then and not now.)

Hopefully you'll meet @carlosmarcelo who is from your neck of the woods. For futuristic biomes and such, @Terring is one of our experts. Feel free to peruse the site and ask questions if the layout is confuzzling.

Hi Gustavo, and welcome back to Simtropolis. *:8)

As you'll soon discover when getting into SC4 again, it truly is a platform which is expanded by community creations here at ST and SC4Devotion alike. It must be quite rare how games this age are still popular with new content still being created regularly. On your journey of discovery you'll be amazed at the possibilities. Soon enough the purchase price of the game will seem well worth every penny for what it offers, because it is priceless in that sense. You certainly did the right thing. *

On the futuristic theme, you may find this thread useful which Terring posted.

Hello Gustavo! Welcome back. I came back from farther, from 2006, more or less ... hehehehe. *:D

Simtropolis and SC4Devotion have so many plugins and mods with so many incredible things that it is impossible for you to get bored in the next 10 years. I am gradually reorganizing the files relating to the various phases of SimcityBrasil and we have a club for Portuguese speakers*:golly:

Anyway, there is always a place to exchange ideas here! *:read:

@GCalegaro welcome to Simtropolis :)

I believe my friends here have confused biomes (a community of plants and animals that have common characteristics for the environment they exist in and can be found over a range of continents) with biodomes (structures very common in futuristic cities that can contain entire ecosystems which doesn't rely on the outside of the domes) *

The SimCity 4 community has plenty of new biomes, plants and geographic formations for your creations. @CorinaMarie and @Toby Ferrian have made some very useful lists of mods that can help you a lot with that. The lists are:

Cori's Rock Shoppe

Cori's Water Shoppe

Cori's Beach Shoppe

Cori's Terrain Shoppe

Ferrian's Tree Shoppe

There are also a lot of mini mods that add formations like lakes, corals and rocks as Mayor Plopable Props. Some of them are:

Corals

High Rocks

The PEG Terrain Kit (7 n 1)

CP PloppableRocks Desert BSC

CP PloppableRocks Gray BSC

CP PloppableRocks White BSC

CP PloppableRocks Brown BSC

GDV MAYOR MODE TROPICAL TREE SET

And these are only a few of them.

Hello everybody!

I'm Wild Dog. I'm 19 and from Norfolk, England. I've played predominantly SimCity 3000 UK Edition and especially SimCity 4 Deluxe for years. I've never been particularly good mind, but I still enjoyed both of them a lot and I hope I can get better at them.

Thanks for listening!

Hi @Wild Dog and welcome to Simtropolis. *:8)

By joining the learning community here, you've just opened up new avenues to explore SC4 with the knowledge and resources you'll come across. It might be a little frustrating at first, but one thing I recommend is to ask questions when unsure. Post in topics for anything you'd like assistance with, because we're all here to help.

Enjoy the site!

Yes, I was actually looking for "shoppes", which at first I noticed a link to it in the @Cyclone Boom's signature, so he helped me indirectly. * But, anyway, thank you @CorinaMarie for recommending me @Terring, I find quite interesting those futuristic buildings and structures. I use to be amazed by the SC 2000's arcologies and its futuristic skin mods.

Hi @CaptBlackwood and welcome to Simtropolis. *:)

For anything city building you've sure come to the right place!

With SC3K and if considering looking into the games GOG offer, they do sell the game which might be a viable option for you. (Also with SC2K as well.)
