Hey, I'm a 14 year old YouTuber who started playing Sim City 4 and Sims 2 in 2007.

I'm from Oxford, England and you might know me from YouTube. I hardly ever comment in the community. I regularly download stuff though.

I'm just a person. I live in Indiana. It tend to be obsessed over reading about international and political topics. I already have gigabytes of mods that I got from alternate mods, so i'll probably not download that much. I'll probably be most active in Off-Topic.

Hi, I'm Dave, from Birmingham, UK, I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now, reading everything I can find and learning loads :)

I played the original Sim City on my Atari ST (giving away my age), then 2000 and 3000 on my first PC. I got quite into 3000, made a few BATs, how primitive that was compared to gmax! I recognise a few names around here from those days, it's slowly bringing back some memories...

After looking forward to SC4 for so long I was massively disapointed when it came out, it just seemed like it was moving towards a 'Sims' style game, which I'm not really interested in. I want to build cities! Looking at SC4 now I think I didn't give it enough of a chance, I don't remember being able to place individual zones back then. The drag-an-area-and-it-fills-in-the-roads-for-you thing really put me of, for good I thought...

Fast forward 8 years and I stumbled upon Cities XL, which went like this...

this looks good, I'll give it a go.

I quite like it!

Wonder if there are any mods for it....(searches google)...

Some nice mods here, but what's this? SC4?

Wonder why that is still so active after all these years, lets have a look.

What the....(jaw hits floor)

I am in awe at what has gone on in this community, it's simply staggering.

I won't go on about it because I'll run out of superlatives, but wow, just wow.

CXL is on the back burner and I'm almost regretting buying it, I need to get in on the SC4 action!

So I'm late, by several years, and I feel like you guys have been having all the fun without me ;)

So far I havn't actually built a decent size city, I've just been reading and learning and installing. I've installed all sorts of buildings, mods and tools, I've rendered a map downloaded from the STEX, I've set up DAMN with a bunch of menus and I've built a basic model in gmax and got it into the game, but I still havn't actually built a city lol :)

Anyways, enough rambling, I'll finish with a massive thank you to everyone who has contributed to this community. The mods, the tools, the tutorials, the CJs, SC4 is virtually a completely different game now, it is amazing!

I just realized I never properly introduced myself...

My name is Jack. I'm 13 years old and I live on a farm SW of Edmonton. One day I hope to become a computer programmer. I am currently trying to learn C++. I know HTML, and CSS, so I think I'm off to a good start.

My aunt bought me Simcity 4 Deluxe for my birthday one year. It was the first game of the Simcity series I played(so glad it wasn't that epic fail Societies). I started when I was around 9 years old. I was one of those kids who doesn't bother reading the instructions or doing the tutorials, I just jumped right in. My first city quickly failed and I was kicked out of office. The funny thing was is that I built it in the Rush Hour tutorial, the one that gives you 90 million dollars or something. I find it amazing the things some of the members of the community have done. The NAM, RHW, it's all just so incredible. I hope that the community lives on for many years to come!!!

Hi, I'm Nikolai. I live some obscure place in the UK and that. I played SC3K back in the dark ages of the early 00s, and haven't really been back since, mainly due to a Rollercoaster Tycoon obsession. Now I'm getting back in to the game, with Sim City DLX for iPhone and SC4 as soon as I can get it. I'm also holding out hope for a 5th game but that diminishes every day... One can dream though eh!

Hey Nikolai! welcome to Simtropolis! :D

If you need any help with anything feel free to ask. By the way, I'm still hoping for SC5 as well. I don't care what anyone says it will happen at some point.

Yeah SC5 would be good. All this flickering graphics stuff in 4 is getting a little tiresome now 46.gif

Welcome to Simtropolis, Nik. B. Anyways, I also hoped for an SC5, and the rest of the community also hoped of the same dream. Feel free to use the forums! Also check out the City Journals made by fellow members at ST. You can also check out the Omnibus, which gives you insight to a lot of stuff in SC4 as well as Cities XL and SC Societies. Also don't forget the downloadable stuff at the ST Exchange made by several members on the site.

Hi i'm Ben,I live in Somerville Massachusetts. I am in middle school and LOVE playing the sims (all series). I like history, health, first aid, emergency services, and judo. I am pretty good with public safety and health in the sim city 4. I have a tip for the city builders out there.

1. Place all your public buildings in districts(olny if you have the time and money to do so and you plan on building an urban city with no room for the burbs). There usually should be 5 districts or other depending how big your map is.Imagine a 4 square play area on your map with a circle in the middle, that is what the districts should look like. There will be 1st,2nd,3rd,4th, and central district. Each district EXCEPT FOR CENTRAL should have a large or small fire station,a police station of a certain size(depending on your needs),a clinic,a library,a elementary school,a park (what park you want),utilities, and a recycling center. Central district should have a high school, college, deluxe police station, medical center, large fire station, elementary school, library, utilities,BIG park ,and a recycling center.

I live in Brighton, UK, and I've been a fan of SC4 since it's launch in 2003. I've only just started to get back into it, so I'm not sure how the downloading thing works yet.

For the mods, some have separate installers such as NAM; for the others, place the DAT File in the Plugins Folder.

Hello there o/

I always fail at first sentence :/ . Ok short demographics 29 and from Turkey.

Although I am a Simcity Fan and playing since 2K , I was not playing SC4 for a long while but occasionally. I already knew Simtropolis and used some mods before.

But this time, I am really about SC4 itself. I had a browser game project which I am trying to mature and wondered if I could add some city building features. And voila :) I am here.

I'll be pleased to ask your help about city building concept and content creation. If I can see the bigger picture and start project, I may even ask for graphic design job.

I play the Sax for my highschool jazz band and look forward to continue playing throughout college. I play alot of games but SC4 is the one game that truly keeps my occupied and challenged. Hi all,

I'm Francis! I'm a soon-to-be third year undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley (go Bears!) studying civil engineering and minoring in city & regional planning! (the best of both worlds, haha) In short, my interests lie in transportation engineering and urban design.

I've been playing Simcity since Simcity 2000, and recently am trying to come back after a long hiatus from SC4.

As much as I've learned a lot in college about cities and infrastructure, I've recently lurked frequently in these forums and surprised how many new things I've learned in here.

I'm excited to contribute and get to learn from this very bright community

P.S. In case you want to learn more about more of my specialized interests in city planning / civil engineering , check out my blog: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~fncchen/blog/

Alright, Methinks I'll have a go at this. Hi, I don't think my dad would want me posting my first name, so I'll just say my middle name (which I actually prefer) I'm Charles. I'm semi-new to the world of SC4, but seeing as I'm currently spending nearly every minute of the day on ST, I'think I'll be a "Simtrop Aficionado" pretty soon. :D I'm 13, so I don't have a job, besides earning a few bucks doing chores around the house. If I'm not on ST, I'm probably playing Mariokart Wii, obsessively trying to win the 150 cc Special Cup. (Darn you Rainbow Road! :rage: ) Or I'm playing Pokemon White on the 3Ds - by the way, an awesone product, I'd recommend it! I'm interested in Urban development and city planning, and one day, I hope to travel to Dubai and see the amazing architecture and design. I have no idea how my profile has 180 views, but hey, I wont complain! :P Oh, and 111222333444, I didn't know you play Diamond. ;)
