8 Years? Jeeze! I think that was three accounts ago for me.

Well wecome back, the landscape has changed a lot with SC4, especially with the proliferation of MMP plops and I think there is a bit more of a push towards modular design.

"If you try to please everybody, you often times end up pleasing nobody, especially yourself. When somebody offers to do a favor for free, like making a mod for SimCity 4, you shouldn't be overly critical of something generously given to you. In other words, you shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth." - Twilight Sparkle after playing SimCity

"Being a mayor or a content creator for SimCity 4 is a heavy responsibility, Patrick. Each city and each custom content is like a child, and must be treated as such." - SpongeBob Squarepants after playing SimCity

What a nice surprise to come here and find one of the most recognisable names in custom content is planning a comeback. As many others, I wasn't around when you were previously active. But as a user of mods, your work is instantly familiar to me so it's great to see you found your way back here. I look forward to seeing what you come up with moving forwards and hope you enjoy all the new content SC4 has to offer.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Welcome back to the community! It must have been really crushing to see your older content go like that, but I feel you. It happened to me several times already and hey, there will always be a chance to come back and participate in the community.

Glad you decided to come back!

Hiya, @Glenni. Welcome back! *:)

You won't recognize me since I'm a much newer addition to the site, but I've run across your name here and there. *

I just Played SimCity 4 for the first time in almost 8 years...

No mods installed, just the base game, but a wave of nostalgia hit me. It even put tears in my eyes to see it back, but they were tears of joy.

Back in 2011, one of the main reasons I quit was that my computer failed, and I couldn't get a backup of my plugins,  BAT textures and models files.

On top of that, I didn't have a computer that could actually run the game, just a weezy little netbook.

I had older backup copies, but they dated back to 2008, that was close to 3 GB of lost content, my own lot edits for my cities, etc. Plus an unknown number of forever lost BATs.It kind of put an end to my enjoyment for a while - but thankfully i turned out i DID have a more recent backup,  I found an external hard drive, with a backup that rolled me back a couple months back from the crash, meaning I only lack a couple things.

First I plan to just get used to the game and community again, as well all the new content. The hundreds, if not thousands of new buildings, flora, cars, familiarise myself with the new (to me) NAM V.36 etc. There is a ton of groundbreaking things I've never seen, to get used to.

To mention some; dynamic weather mods, dynamic water mods, and a slew of things that back then I thought was never going to be possible in SimCity 4.

Let me tell you that it is awesome to see this community still at it though, and my plan is to start BATting, uploading, and showcasing city journals again, just like old times!. *:ohyes:

I know we've been talking for a while on Discord but it's really nice to see you here on Simtropolis again. :)

You're very welcome back to Simtropolis and SC4. *:)

The scenery may look slightly, or perhaps even significantly different now. It's true since 2011 there have been a handful of notable site upgrades, around 40 new additions to the staff (myself included), in excess of 300,000 new members, and also 5,000 new files uploaded to the STEX! *:golly:

Even all these years later spanning a decade and a half of SC4, in amidst of change, the community still remains the same at heart. You'll quickly catch up and discover Simtropolis is still ST. It's great to hear you've sourced a working backup of your content when all seemed lost. That must've been such a relief and I imagine also a big surprise. We're also delightfully surprised to not only see you return as a BATing legend, but also the prospect of enjoying yet more of your magnificent creations in the future.

5,000 files since 2011?  You're going to want to go through those....  (and the ones on trop)

I suspect you might be shocked at where this game is vs 2011.....

I think - No big deal for Glenny - 80% of this material will never be interested for Him.

There are many simple lots about nothing. But Real interesting Props and Mods not so much.

Really I like HISTORIC HARBOR today and objects by Simmer 2 and Krasner.

Do not say anything about the teams NAM, Girafe and Poseidon...*:thumb:   ALL of these - are my favorite and nothing more ...

I think the best achievements today are NAM, MMP and POSEIDON!

As a name in the community - no worries, you'll live forever - or at least as long as the community exists. No matter if you are active or not.

As a real existing person - hope you'll find some fun being around here again.
