So, I just checked the validity of the SC4D thread linky and it (in the original) goes to page 2 which is off topic comments on other stuff. The author prolly intended it to go here instead: SC4devotion thread. Is that something you would change or leave the content exactly as posted?

Ah yes, might as well fix it I guess.

Also updated the Piers dependencies, thanks again for your help!

At the rate I'm going we'll get these all fixed in about a hundred years. Here's another for you:

    Paeng's Castle Walk 1.0

    - - - Edit Start - - -

The old castle has finally been renovated and serves now as a museum to boost the education or as a plain landmark to boost the Mayour's ego... ahm... rating. It comes together with a highly variable set of items to build park pathways and small pocket parks, or for walkways between wealthy residential compounds - all very attractive with lots of flowers and decor appealing to residents and tourists like.

    LIST OF ITEMS

    • 5x3 Small Castle (Museum and Landmark versions)
    • 2x2 Chess Plaza
    • 1x1 Wide Paths (straight, curve, tee, cross)
    • 1x1 Narrow Paths (straight, curve, tee, cross, transition)
    • 1x1 Wide Paths with Lattice Wall (straight)
    • 1x1 Ends and Fillers (variety)

See the Castle Walk 'in action' in my CJ

    DEPENDENCIES

    DEVELOPER NOTES

You can use this set to build park pathways and small pocket parks, or for walkways between residential compounds, e.g. open spaces between mid- or highrise buildings.

The sections with higher lattice fences provide more privacy, e.g. along RES$$$.

Try and alternate sections with and without lamps for better variation.

Some items provide landmark benefits, but mostly they are neutral and easy to maintain. Find more specs and stats in the in-game menu.

All items are at or near the end of the 'Landmarks' menu, except the Museum which is of course in the 'Civics | Education' menu, all with custom icons.

    INSTALLATION

Just drop the whole bundle in your Plugins. You may also opt to install only certain items - remove the ones you do not wish to use. To un-install remove the complete folder from your Plugins.

    CREDITS

    Lotting and Modding: Paeng

    SUPPORT

Should you need support for these items please visit the Paeng Production Forum

    Enjoy!

    - - - Edit End - - -

Mod Edit: Fixed description BBCode formatting and updated dependency links (from old site format).

Note: The support linky goes to SimPeg and is, ofc, no longer valid.

Starting today, I've just noticed the editor icons seem mixed up. For example, the "Quote" icon is now shown as "Center Align", even though it does the same thing.

Can anyone else confirm this? I've tried in both Firefox and Chrome, and also cleared the cache.

    Thanks.

Hmm, must be something on my end then. Guess I'll need to do some investigating.

    Anyway, thanks for confirming.

    Update:

Strangely the icons are back to normal now, and I didn't do anything to fix them.

Computers seem to have a mind of their own sometimes. Might as well blame it on the Brexit... :whatevs:

I'm sure you already thought of this, but here's a guess: Were you logged in under a different account when they were messed up? I know y'all created the ST Challenges "team" account. Do you have to log out as "you" to use that? (As you can see I have no clue what goes on behind the scenes.)

I first noticed it with my account here, and then checked the team one, but the issue persisted.

So different accounts, different browsers but the icons were still messed up. Maybe it could be something like Flash Player, as this is shared between all applications. Although that too doesn't add up, since the editor isn't flash based.

One thing: I did update to Firefox 47 the day before, so maybe that did something. Still I don't know why this would affect multiple browsers.

    Guess it'll remain a mystery...

This should return at some point, although I can't really provide an estimation when.

Dirk's had a very busy year so far, and some of these site-level features require his expertise.

By the way, if you're wondering how the Challenges Leaderboards were posted, this is an admin feature which allows HTML source input. If you'd like me to add tables this way, I can do it for you. Just provide the HTML (e.g. using Word or an online table creator). The editor will recognise it as a table, and the text can be edited as normal. It's just adding new rows / columns would again require manual input.

This may not necessarily be a Simtropolis bug, but two days ago the mobile site on my phone started displaying threads vertically like this:

    2V1y37s.jpg

Not only are the thread titles being formatted this way, but so are the thread pages links:

    SiVjb37.jpg

Forum topics and the actual posts themselves still display normally.  Frustratingly, I can't replicate this on other phones I have or on online mobile emulators, and this phone is admittedly merely an old GS2 using Android 4.0.4 and Web Version 4.0.4-UVLI4.  Screen resolution for this phone is 480x800 pixels.  I haven't done any updates or installed anything recently, and I've tried troubleshooting with phone shutdowns and resets, data and cache clearing, and application default resets, all to no avail.  I've also test browsed other online forums that use versions of IP.Board, and they are not showing this wonky vertical formatting for me...only Simtropolis is affected for me.

Maybe this will be my argument to finally update or even upgrade the phone.

    @Odainsaker

    Thanks for the report.

I've checked myself on an older Android phone, and can confirm this. It seems to be an issue with the Div width not being respected. On desktop, you can replicate this by viewing the forum list with Inspect Element, and setting the width property to 0%.

The Div would appear to be named:

    <div class="ipsType_break ipsContained">

    For example:

    mobile_div_width_bug.png.555ad36fdfc3507

I guess something has (again) gone wrong following a site update, so I've added it to the bugs list.

Btw, I've been getting this the past couple days when I go into chat:

    59654be7f1f7e_04_STChatError.jpg.61b9de008587604da1b402df9d1a4356.jpg

I wasn't really all that concerned since clicking Stop script makes it go away and I haven't noticed any side issue while in chat. Since you mentioned a recent site update I'm wondering if that is the culprit. I'm running Firefox with all it's latest patches, but I have been putting off updating my Flash Player for the past week or so which makes that a possible candidate for the cause. I was in a hurry for something when I postponed Flash update and then noticed news web pages load like twice as fast so I'm prolly going to let Firefox just keep auto-blocking vids. (I read much faster than they can talk out the story.) It tells me specifically that is what it's doing unlike this popup.

Now, iirc, you've said somewhere else the chat stuff is beyond your control code-wise or something similar. I figured I mention this in case others are just ignoring it too but it needs to be reported back to ip.board. (Assuming it's not isolated to me.)

While I'm on the topic of the chat room, is there a way to include more than just two peeps into a private convo? For instance I met someone who had joined ST like 3 minutes before entering chat and who needed some sc4 help. Since it was early afternoon I was able to walk him thru some stuff step by step. We stayed and chatted about other game aspects and then when he had some initial questions about his first growing city on the new map we'd rendered, someone else I know came in and joined that convo. Well, to wrap up a rambling story, other peeps joined and they had other things to chat about. We 3 gamers could have jumped into another tab if that were possible. We didn't try cause I'd asked about that in chat and was told it can't be done.

As an alternative could the software allow multiple instances of the chat from ST's perspective? Like have buttons for ChatRoom1, ChatRoom2, etc. And then if it gets too crowded one group could agree to adjourn to a different one.

Ah, the infamous, unhelpful script error. Does the debugger reveal anything useful at all?

I wouldn't have thought Flash is the issue, but you never know with these things. Maybe try testing Firefox in safe mode, which can rule out an addon as the cause, if you use any.

If not, I'll add it to the list of things to report / fix, when Dirk gets time to investigate them. Anyone else let us know if you've noticed this as well.

Unfortunately I don't think so at the moment.

The current chat is more basic than the previous third-party suite that was used, which did allow multiple rooms. Even from a configuration standpoint, there aren't many options available. The previous chat supplier has changed their service, or gone out of business, which I believe was the main reason why it was dropped.

However, IPS (the devs) have mentioned updating the chat later this year. I've heard there are plans for a "user experience" update, which would add refinements to features like additional chat rooms, which has been in high demand on the official forums. The current chat is integrated directly with the rest of the site, so there's lots of potential for improvement. It's just not really been their main focus as of yet. Hopefully it will happen in the near future!

I have no idea. I didn't try debugging since my other solution (go away) worked so well. It came up my next time entering chat, but this morning it did not. I just went into chat and everything is fine. I did not update flash nor anything else. So, it seems to have fixed itself.

If you replied to my alternative idea, I missed that. Is it possible for ST to have multiple instances of the chat? Like buttons that could be labeled Chat 1, Chat 2, Chat 3, etc. While that wouldn't be as elegant as multiple peeps in a separate tab of chat, it would allow us to separate convos when needed. Like it's difficult to help a new member with step by step instructions when that is interspersed with multiple lines of non related chat.

Ah sorry, I forgot to clarify that.

I believe there can only be one instance of chat enabled per installation. Even if it was possible, it would probably require another licence to install 2 chat applications. Then again, I have no direct influence on this, so I'm not 100% sure whether it'd be doable.

Maybe try signing in with your current account in another browser. I know you mentioned that multiple tabs might not work, so it could be a restriction in the chat software. I'll try and test this out later on.

Or maybe a way forward is to create another account for the chat. We do allow clone accounts for legitimate purposes like this. Although for obvious reasons, it might get very confusing if everyone did that. :P

On the other hand, this probably wouldn't help, as this would still be in the main chat room.

    Hi everybody !

I have an issue with a CJ post.

I posted an entry in a new CJ I created yesterday, and after few hours, it wasn't showing in the CJ list.

So today I re-posted it, and same problem. Then on the chat someone gave me the link of this thread, and I saw it kind of happens...

Idk if you guys found a solution for it ?

All I know is that my post is showing on the sidebar, and at the very last position in the CJ tab, like at page 136 if you don't sort or filter them.

Thanks to all the simtropolis community to give a very long life to the city builders !!

    Hi v701,

This has been reported previously, and it's believed to be a site bug.

After a bit of experimenting (unpublished, edited and republished), I think I've fixed it.

Can you confirm it now shows in the index list?

So, bumping this thread with a bug I've always had but never reported.
I'm using Safari as my main web browser and, since the last update I've had rendering problems with ST. This has been happening with some "hip websites" (i.e. facebook and the likes) and, thus far I've traced the problem to some websites using templates that are not fully compatible with older versions of Webkit, the rendering engine this version of safari uses, more specifically, some display elements written in javascript applied with CSS, usually hovering/floating elements and sometimes animation (possibly a couple of j-query functions introduced in later versions).

Sure, I can work around this problem using firefox but I rather use the systems default engine since it is far more efficient (355Mb for Safari with 8 tabs opened versus 584Mb for Firefox with a single tab opened).
It is very inconvenient to have two web browsers opened or have to open a different web browser just to use ST.

I'm aware I'm possibly alone in this problem and I would fix it myself if I had programing knowledge.
    Anyway, it's a bug and here's the reporting ;)

    @FlyHigh

    Thanks for reporting.

Looks like that's a similar issue to the one Odainsaker noticed above:
    https://community.simtropolis.com/forums/topic/68528-simtropolis-81x-bugs-issues-report-thread/?page=7#comment-1628807

In the previous notable site update, jQuery was indeed updated. So maybe this is now partly incompatible on some older browsers.

It's also possible this is a new bug in the code, which would need reporting and patching by IPS.

Hopefully Dirk gets a bit more time to investigate these further.

I don't think this is a bug so this is more just a question and I thought it would be silly to make a new thread for it: did the number of "likes" required to make a post "popular" (Ov5tjUG.jpg) get reduced? I'm almost certain it used to be 20 but I see posts with less that are "popular."

Ok, I have new news on this. It has nothing to do with any update. I've isolated the cause to when a particular member with an animated avatar is in the chat room when I join. If that member is not in chat when I join, I don't get the script error. If that member joins after I do I still do not get the error. It's only when they are already in chat when I join.

I don't think this is a bug so this is more just a question and I thought it would be silly to make a new thread for it: did the number of "likes" required to make a post "popular" (Ov5tjUG.jpg) get reduced? I'm almost certain it used to be 20 but I see posts with less that are "popular."

Yes, I can confirm this figure is now 10 likes. The number of posts that actually reached 20 is very few and far between, so this makes it a bit more achievable, while you still need to earn it.

A similar thing has also been done with "hot" (popular) topics, as previously the conditions were very rarely met.

    Thanks for confirming.

I wonder if it's an issue specifically with that member's avatar, or animated GIFs as a whole. I find it a little surprising a script error is shown, as you'd think an image would be directly processed by the browser. Then again, GIFs have always struggled doing as they're told. :P

A terribly unhelpful error message  when downloading: "Something went wrong". Error code is EX1048.
