Let's try something a bit different. This is a little "drive through" of my city that passes through some of the previous interchanges that I showcased, if briefly. I wasn't sure where to post this so bite me. :P

1st person camera is a little bumpy at times, and the cims drive wayyy too fast - seriously, is that like 150 mph or something? Still, I feel like this game has potential for a true u-drive-it mode.

Wow very nice! Shared it with Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/2zivc4/highway_drive_wow_the_map_feels_huge/

Speaking of Reddit, I found that road signs are starting to be created. Here's the first one I found:

2K views in 24 hours, oh my.

For those that are interested, here's a rough MS paint sketch of the path I took through my city. I've made a few adjustments since including turning the second interchange from a partial-Y to a full T and reducing the median gap.

This is still pretty much within the inner 3x3 squares. Imagine the full 5! :boggle:

Over 4K now.

It's good stuff, the video shows a proof of concept that the FPS camera can act as a virtual drive and it deserves to get noticed.

Edit: This may be useful for making overpasses/embankments:

I made a modular cloverleaf with collector/distributor lanes in the assets editor.

In the editor, I made the loops as wide as possible.

The whole interchange is too big for the editor, so I made the missing pieces as separate files.

m5ejcsY.jpg

Note the weaving part of the C/D lanes. It is curvy as is most real-life cloverleaf C/D lanes.

Time to assemble the huge interchange!

Edit- This file is available at the STEX

The file I share is different from what's shown above. Both highways are at ground level, to reduce the number of pieces needed.

Wow so much goodness! That trick is awesome Haljackey, thanks for sharing!

You Cloverleaf is a masterpiece Sims Firehouse, great work.

This Manhattan bridge is also jawdropping stuff, well done!

I've been trying to make Nanpu bridge interchange, here's progress so far:

That video was amazing! Felt a bit like Koyaanisqatsi in places!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

@TPB, you've done a good job recreating real-life interchanges! I can feel the mass from the pictures you showed. It's impressive.

@simcity4deluxe, the clover-mill you created is neat and elegant. Nice work!

Here's an update.

River flowing through 3 quadrants of the interchange. I believe there are many of these around the world, at least it is in my hometown.

@Sims firehouse: Thanks, I'm trying my best to make some real life ones but it's been tough hehe. Lots of fun though.

Love that river interchange.

Speaking of the drive-through videos, has anybody else tried driving to the physical edge of the map?  It's like driving in a blizzard.  I was curious to see what happened when I hit the edge but I couldn't see so I turned around and headed back.  :)

Correlation doesn't imply causation, but it does waggle its eyebrows suggestively and gesture furtively while mouthing 'look over there'. - xkcd.com

So after finally laying my hands on CSL (yay!) I have made my first interchange. Not much to look at, perhaps, but a milestone to me.

This thread is so full of eye candy. Makes me wanna start up my newbie test city and improve all its interchanges (which for the most part are stock interchanges connected to the city grid with roundabouts).

Too bad it's 00:30 AM, so I have to wait until tomorrow. Oh well, at least I get to sleep on it. That video from kingofsimcity was really awesome, and watching it all sleepy just before I go to bed... Yeah, I'm going to dream about driving on highways at breakneck speeds tonight.

Those are some smooth looking ramps Hal!

Close-up of a folded diamond with earthen embankments courtesy of terrain editing tools (expensive though!). Just waiting for those crosswalks to be modded away.

Long post ahead!

1. Round-city expressway goes parallel with and intersects main regional freeway, where the future bottleneck will be:  :)

(Do I look like spaghetti? :D )

2. Showing off 2 prefab SPUIs with their flexibility:

3. Guess what will this piece turn into?

A 53-degree clover-mill! Still little amount of work after plopping it. I plan to make another that's 74 degrees. (53+53+74=180, guess what? :D )

A quick explanation on its geometry:

That is awesome Sims firehouse! I really like your work on the modulars, giving me a lot of inspiration! Perhaps we could do a collaboration? :)

They don't have to be that steep, but you sometimes have to put up a good fight to get them to look right.

PKRH1Ow.jpg

-That level 1 flyover is part of the original in-game 3-way interchange for comparison. I will upgrade that when needed.

We also now have terraforming tools, so we can make our own overpass embankments!

Sunken 4-level stack - based off the US-101 and I-110 interchange near downtown Los Angeles. Also surprise parclo A-4 near the top.

*snip*

Awesome, how did you make the sunken part?
