What I would like to see for buildings to be able to make even more realistic container terminals:

Better and more realistic container cranes to unload my container ships, one with boom up and one down.

Container carriers to simulate the automated systems used on European terminals.

Good container cranes that are used on rail yards.

Container ships!

I wish we had more frontage and base-buildings to add to tall buildings and apartments. In modern city planning, it's actually recommended to avoid having tall buildings immediately face the sidewalk/street, and instead to have some sort of buffer building (i.e. base-building or frontage) 1-7 storeys tall between the tall tower and the sidewalk/street. This way its not as imposing to pedestrians (its more to their human scale), mitigates wind effects, allows for more skylight on the street, etc.

The only commercial frontage/base-buildings that come close to that on the workshop rn are these two assets by @hikke:

There's a few buildings that are mid-size that you could add, but what's awesome about these two assets is that they're large -- they extend beyond the 3x2 squares that they take up so you can use one for one building (or multiple buildings even). Better than adding a bunch of different base-buildings/frontage just to cover one building/tower. It'd be nice to have more assets like these to help!

Hi,

i'm new and looking for a small modification.

I would like to have modified the monorail station with street. I want tram tracks on the street and the street as a bus and taxi zone, no public cars. In addition, a subway station would be nice.

A second version of this monorail station with two monorails would be also nice. I think this will be a very good transport hub.

Would it be possible?

So I have a request of my own,

Since I'm doing a 1:1 scale of Bratislava, Slovakia I am in need of few assets, specifically roads.

Since I'm no modder and have 0 experience I'd like to ask anyone of you pros out there if you would help me create few, I don't think they're extra difficult but as I said I have no idea how, thanks.

Well - the vanilla runways are already narrow when it comes to runways. They are about 30m wide. Runways on international airports are 60 to 80m wide max (commonly around 60m). On regional airports we've got runways that are about 45m wide. As it's hard to control what planes will land on an airport ingame it's hard to decide if it's worth to be done - you would also need new taxiways and new "station"- networks cause it wouldn't look good at all if a 30m taxiway intersects a 20m wide runway or something like that...

I'd like a 1W2L version of NExt's tiny road for roundabouts. It's in that extra road pack, but that pack has many problems. If I make one in the road editor, my new road fails to load for some reason.

tiny roads (ones that have zoning set less than the 16m wide) require additional modded info hence why they only work with Network Extensions

I want a mod that allows me to test a route. I'm a bit of a control freak and a big fan of the manual Lane connector of TM:PE. It's quite easy to make misstakes when playing around with lanes that way and I'd want the possibility to test possible routs.

Like this: click on a building or an intersection, select (lane and) vehicle type (car, truck, bus, etc). Select a destination (other building or intersection). Show what route a vehicle of selected type would choose to get between them.

Or tips of any existing mods that let me do this!

These surface rocks are incredible. Only problem is water behaviour with them. It can be easily solve with Building anarchy (but since you want choose whatever building, your fps goes to minimum, so the mod isnt that worth - anyway has good feature - can change mode (onWater,surface,...).

 

Easiest solution (at least for me) is set that whole item as onWater mode (with simple anarchy you are able to place them on every place on map). Can someone tell me how to do it? Or (bcs i am absolutely newbie, who just love this game) if someone is so kind, can just change only one atribute?

How noone want rocks in water?

Just noticed this pinned thread (oops). I already have a thread opened for this, so I’ll repost it here. (Let me know if I should close the original – not sure what the proper etiquette is.)

What I’d love are traffic lights styled after those in Québec, Canada. They’re mounted horizontally and have two red lights, and each light is shaped differently (square reds, diamond yellows and arrow greens; the lights on the right typically have up- and right-pointing arrows, whilst lights on the left typically have left-pointing arrows).

Here’s a Google Image Search with some more examples. I think they look distinctive enough that they could really add a nice flair to cities – plus they’d add a touch of home for me.

It’d be extra awesome to have street lights (both single and double) to match the style, but I’d choose the traffic lights first.

I’m happy to compensate (pay) any interested modders for their work, too. That’s how bad I want these babies.

Hello all

I am trying to build several cities that belong to a fictional European monarchy. I hope to give each a different feel and look with different royal residences. Therefore i am looking for palaces and castles that are European (specifically British or Northern European such as German or Danish) in character.

I am specifically looking for places such as the Amalienborg and Fredensborg Palace  in Denmark, or a good version of the Buckingham palace, or even your fantasy creation as long as it is in keeping with the time of 18-19th century European palace architecture.

Or, as an alternative, it would be very very helpful if someone can turn the Charlottenberg Palace by Tobse (https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=684280004 ) into assets that snaps to the road instead of placing on ground (no idea why he chose that).

Hello modders, I do not know the scale of this but is anyone interesting in making a mod that completely disables the vanilla assets from being loaded in the game? or (probably more advanced) displays vanilla assets in the content manager to be disabled and enabled. It would probably help a lot of people out there and save everyone a few gigs of ram.

Would it be possible to create a new overlay for bicycle roads and paths to clearly see what your infrastructure looks like atm? It'd really help planning future paths and roads with bicycle lanes, as I don't want to just spam them on every road and place them strategically.

Getting the runways and taxiways into the road editor is not that difficult and manipulating them is straightforward, but the assets created this way don't work. 

@Bad Peanut said at one point that he'd made some headway but he had to use modtools in conjunction with the built-in road editor in order to make changes stick. I don't think anybody else has gotten any farther (or if they have, they haven't been inclined to release their work).

I haven't really gotten as far to test them unfortunately (it's always hard to tell if they work because custom airports are a bit finicky at the best of times) Maybe I'll get round to it sometime.

I did only get Runways to save, not taxiways and they DIDN'T show up in the plane menus because the mod doesn't look for all runways only networks that are named specifically as the vanilla runway

I've released stand-alone vanilla runway and taxiway networks that you can use as templates for creating larger/smaller/otherwise custom stuff:
 

These require "More Network Stuff" (NOT Airport Roads) to place in-game (as will your resulting assets) but they should be a workable foundation for whatever you want to build.

Two mod requests, if anybody has the time:

1. A version of the 25 tiles mod that distributes the new areas evenly. All the current ones I've found so far place all the new tiles at the last milestone. As I usually play a natural playthrough without the Unlock All mod, I'd like to be able to expand my city more quickly rather than play with the default amount of land for the majority of the game. So, I could really benefit from a mod that spreads them out a bit more, with as many as 2 or even 3 new tiles unlocked on some milestones.

2. A mod that removes the restrictions on vanilla trees. Currently, all Conifer Trees are exclusive to Boreal maps, Palm Trees and Palm plants are exclusive to Tropical maps, and large bushes are restricted to Temperate and Tropical maps. Since they've gotten rid of the restrictions on the European buildings, these restrictions feel a bit arbitrary so it'd be nice to get rid of them.

My Idea: disable only specific outside connections for passenger and cargo train stations

It would be very handy to have control over which 
of the (max) 4 outside connections a passenger station and also a cargo station can use. 
For every passenger and cargo station there would be an interface where you can enable or disable each of the (max) 4 outside connections individually and also a button to do it for all at once. Especially for freight this would make things a lot easier in many situations.


You can see the simplified network of my city down below, in relation to that:

If I would allow intercity trains at the northeast station they would also come from the west and southwest, traveling through the main station which results in a bottleneck there. this can only be solved by this possible mod so at the northeast station the intercity trains that stop there would only come from the north.

So it would be really awesome if somebody likes the idea for this mod and can actually make it :D

Well - that's already possible by using TM:PE. You can set using this if a segment is allowed for cargo trains only, for passenger trains only for both or for none which gives you füll controll on this end.

On top if you've got - I guess - spawnpoint fix installed and a mod to control vehicle spawning per line (like IPT) and 81 tiles you can select the outside connection like a normal station, rename that stop and decide which passenger trains are driving there ;)

So you can build bullet train only connections to other cities - kinda ;)

There are several reasons why my proposed mod would still make a lot of sense:

1- simplicity and efficiency: a single mod with an interface in one place and only doing this one task. Same like the "local-only transport stations" mod did, but with extended functionality. And that mod even got implemented into vanilla with the mass transit update.

2: TMPE makes my traffic worse and for the advanced AI and DLS you need a strong computer. And I don't need any of its functions, only the one you mentioned, so this would be an incredibly unefficient way to do it.

3: IPT changes the interface and you have to manually choose the number of vehicles, both I don't want or need.

4: I don't want to go anywhere near the edge, I prefer to be closer to vanilla. 25 tiles is the maximum I would do. And this makes the number of needed mods for the workaround go up to 3...

So to sum it up: it would be much easier with the mod I described and for many people that don't need or want the 3 other mods it would be very easy and efficient.

Recycling....

 

Recycling is good to implement but the problem is, the recycling centre has only 1 entrance / exit for despatching the trucks and bin collectors and created a huge queues to waiting to enter the centre. Are there any asset or mod so that I could install a train station inside the recycling centres to export the recycled materials?

I am currently thinking about something related...

I would love to ship industry products directly from a producer to - let´s say - a goods station near the twon center, where delivery-cars can be loaded. No trucks, no goods station near an industry quarter but spurlines instead.

Yes, spurlines, best functional ones! Something, that can collect goods from near lots and build trains from it. Currently I use single tracks and completely empty goods stations to imitate something like this but I still need stations and have to collect the goods per truck. Would it be possible to create something, that would be able to link industry lots and spurs together?

And cause it should look realistic, I have a second request: Often such spurlines end on industrial lots, running into buildings, where cars can be loaded. These tracks then need to be covered with beton, asphalt, or plaster to prevent other vehicles to get stuck on the tracks (like tram tracks). Such a track, best single track, would be very useful.
