I like how the game lists the employer as Retired. No doubt that's a great company to work for *

None or n/a would of been the more logical thing to do. But as much as I love the game as we can see from the images in this thread sometimes logic & simcity go together like oil and water *

Yeah, that part does come across as a bit silly. Same as being retired and Cori's Work Commute A No Go like this:

She's retired. How could she not get there? Must be that Retired really is a work place. *

Is not your accustomed type of oddity, but (aside the well known quais de seine glitch) the cliff texture and the colour and transparency of the water had conspired to make the cliffs to look as reflections of the seawalls, matching almost perfectly with CAL canals and RDQ' NGB International's water mirror.

@matias93 That 6-way road-ave intersection is quite the oddity too, but in a really good way.

Is in fact only a widening of the westbound avenue (north is downside), a way to avoid closed curves and separate neighbourhoods.

Hehehe, I haven't seen a pic like that in a while. I think with some older dirt paths the positioning props would appear for one day every SimYear.

Say, do you happen to remember where you got that white mid-rise building from? I like it a lot. Japanese BAT?

Thai buildings are very easy to recognise by their clever design: white paint and small windows covered with the structure, as a way to block direct sunlight and the humid heat of the tropics.

@Takingyouthere Does default Rush Hour SC4 have sims drive the faster route or the shorter route? This might actually be a NAM feature.

It's a NAM feature. The base game would have the sims taking the shortest route.

@CorinaMarie This happened to me once, too. In my case, I can recall having installed the JS Seawalls, which increases Mayor Rating, and I plopped lots of these, without actually knowing that they increase Mayor Rating. Then I bulldozed all of them, which seemde to cause my Mayor Rating to drop into a bottomless pit. Did you by chance install any custom content, build it and then bulldoze it? If yes, all you can do is either plop it again or just revert to God mode and start all over.

Nope. This is vanilla. Not even patched atm. The point is @paulytools stated it was impossible to achieve a negative rating. (See hidden contents in my post above.) Several posts later @euverus did achieve it, but the screenshot has since gone missing so I don't know how negative it was. I took it as a challenge for myself to see what I could achieve. I pretty much followed this advice:

On 3/16/2013 at 12:44 AM, Cyclone Boom said:

I'm also not sure why you'd want to do this.

But to achieve a negative mayor rating, you'll need to think like the evil arch enemy of SimCity, Dr Vu! The top mayor rating reducers include:

  • Toxic Waste Dump (-10, radius 440)
  • Army Base (-7, radius 440)
  • Federal Prison (-7, radius 440)
  • Casino (-7, radius 440)
  • Missile Range (-5, radius 440)

They all have two things in common, either producing large amounts of pollution or encouraging crime. If you place any of these structures near your Sims, it's bound to negatively affect the mayor rating.

Also, build industry near residential areas, which will cause widespread pollution. Create nuclear meltdowns, reduce the funding of all services and maximise taxes. Failing UDI missions can also contribute, as a short term influence. Basically, just do everything you wouldn't normally do when managing a good city.

In short, throw the textbook out the window! *:P

Along with a few things I knew from experience. Such as enacting the Gambling Ordinance to increase crime by 20%, Youth Curfew Act to decrease mayor rating by 10 points, and Automobile Emission Reduction Act to decrease it by 5 points. See Ordinances (Complete List). I plopped Coal Power Plants and reduced funding to $2 on all but the main one. This gave me lots of pollution at a very economical price. I un-funded Road Services and had potholes in every section of street in the whole city. Oddly, this didn't bother my Sims at all. Pulled up the Traffic Data View and the mini map was all an off colored red, but no highlighting on the actual streets. I had to increase funding to repair the roads to get the overlay congestion to show and to tick off my Sims. (That part was weird imo.) Basically, I accepted the challenge way after the fact just to see how low I could actually get the rating.

So, the above is an oddity inasmuch as very few peeps have prolly seen such a highly negative rating nor seen all those red news messages. Like this one:

5962b9554679b_19_02NewsItem.jpg.e1aaa8bccec55a14158b0685e92a76be.jpg

^ I'll bet it's that last part. Something in their diets. Let them eat cake.

Haha, you caught my attention :)
Yep, throw in a toxic waste dump and those sims do end up going ballistic (or the opposite as far as mayor rating is concerned).

I owe you a lot... so belly up and name your drink (if it's a reasonable request I can get something out before the next black moon  )
