Wouldn't know, Mate -- never touched the stuff...*

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

(Harry Lime to Holly Martins...Graham Greene's THE THIRD MAN...1949)

I considered adding more RCI population values, but I am concerned that would make the dialog too large. As an alternative I am also considering adding a button that would write more detailed city stats to a CSV file.

Suggestions would be welcome. *:)

Wow, that is incredible.  I say go for adding the RCI values if possible.  Most people are using widescreen options at this point so I think there's little risk that the region view would become crowded.  Of course, there's also the possibility of resizing the dialog, or maybe optional items to display, if those could be done?  How do you bring up the dialog anyway?  Is it always "on" or can it be switched on or off with a command?

When I make that screenshot the dialog was always on, which was just to make testing it easier. I then changed it to open using a keyboard shortcut (currently Control + C), or by typing RegionCensus in the cheat box when in region view.

I plan to. It would be an expanded version of the totals that are shown above, but broken down for each of the game's 12 RCI groups. I learned while testing the Region Total Funds value that the game has trouble displaying § (the Section sign that SimCity games use for Simoleons) in some cases, if that symbol was present the number would not be displayed at all. But I don't think that would be an issue for the labels in the UI file.

I have also considered adding a button or buttons that would write the per-city data to a CSV file. The data is currently around 60 columns, with the majority of that (48 columns) being population data for the 12 RCI groups.

Here is version 2 of the in-game region census UI:

Region-View-Census-V2.jpg

Maxis used some interesting math for the category totals *:golly:, not sure what is going on with that. The UI is currently $ in place of § due to the UI glitch I mentioned in my previous post. but the dialog is currently hard coding the text instead of using LTEXT files.

I believe there'r a typo in R$$, it lacks one dollar symbol.

It looks like I accidentally deleted one value when replacing § with $. Fixed, and the image above has been updated.

Yeah, I always wonder about that.  About 32,000 R$ people, but it counts totals as about 29,000?  Strange.  I wonder if it has something to do with capacity?  Like the Census Repository reports regional numbers as "capacity" amounts instead of actual amounts?  Perhaps the amounts of individual RCI numbers there speak to capacity instead of actual amounts?  Anyway, the dialog looks great!  Are there any other "region-only" items that can be added?

I don't know. I had thought it was a glitch due the fact that SC4 only updates the regional data when the city is being played.

I could add fields for total income and/or average mayor rating, but I am not sure how useful those would be. I plan to add buttons in the area below that separator to export the per-city data as CSV and/or JSON.

Edit: Based on a suggestion I received on SC4E, I added fields for the total number of cities, developed (Mayor mode) cities and undeveloped (God mode) cities.

Here is a cropped screenshot of the Region Census CSV output for the Maxisland region:

The full CSV file is here: Maxisland.zip I have not updated the in-game UI yet, this was just a test of my CSV writer.
