It's funny how the color changes depending on what background it's on.

Dark backgrounds absorb, light backgrounds reflect.

What do you think? Should I just press on, or rather make nothing more than some isolated, bushy pockets of MMPs on the flatlands?

Maybe throw in some extra terrain elements to break up the monotony of the flat expanse? Grassy areas like this usually have parts with slight changes in elevation, which might give it a difference in moisture (and vegetation) compared with the rest of the area. Depending on what real life area you're basing this on you could possibly also add some small rocks.

This is something I struggle with as well, so I wouldn't mind if anyone knows some great tutorials.

Rule # 1 -- Please yourself -- first, last, and always!!

Rule # 2 -- Even the wheat growing Great Plains have something growing where they are not cultivated.

Rule # 3 -- Europe is heavily populated, but they have numerous patches of forested land, both large and small.

Rule # 4 -- "Nature abhors a vacuum".

Suggestion -- go to the CJ's of other members and scroll through them until you find something you might like to work with, or modify to suit your own particular "style".

In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed.  But they produced Michael Angelo, Leonardo Da Vinci, and The Renaissance.

In Switzerland, they had brotherly love and five hundred years of peace.  And what did that produce?

The cuckoo clock !

I offer a view of the north shore sand dunes from the "Bremerhaven" map I've been working on (off and on).

Great shoreline! *

The "SimCity 4" vanilla Opera House is the most evil thing in existence. Avoid.

@Odainsaker It's not really ideal for releasing since it's basically becoming a dependnecy, but you can use Jenx's Poseidon Mod for high altitude water.

Whoa! That sure looks useful if it works the way I imagine! *:bunny:

Garden City Trial Region update !

In my scrapshack CJ I announced to start creating master like region with basis a as close like plugins folder Bat`s, Mod´s like for so far posible. I´d like to explore the custom Bat´s , wide as they are specialy the growable one´s , landmarks and recreational  items. All regions will have the same regional map and similiar infrastructure highways, railroads, with only exception maxis or rhw highway´s. Coastal region used in this trial conscist of a 3x3 tile grid mostly plain to have no obstructions with play. There lke a chessboard a A1-C3 counting across the region !

WyWPPyZ.jpg

All tiles have more or less specific designated purpose assigned. There will be accordingly density residential development in every zone to meet RCI demand furthure the SimCity way of regional play will  be observed !

First master region I have started uses the for ease of play the old maxis highways. Highway wind around the city with some cross avenues and a central town and city avoid route and a harbour connction !

RsVUNwp.jpg

Second phase due there will be the zoning issue for every tile, downtown commercial zones are quit different from outside medium or low commercial or residential. Rhw hghway´s will be all T junction no complex X like one´s , only for functionaly included. Hope you like this update !

Sincerely yours,

Kschmidt
