    REPLIES

    -------------

Schulmanator: Thanks, glad to be back.

Ln X: Thank you, I still find some charm in the Maxis stuff.

IRE505: Awesome! Always glad to have more support.

Simcitymaster13: Photobucket hasn't been kind to me, and I haven't had the ful time to change to I.S. for all the photos, but all new photos from here should show.

DMANLOVE: Old pictures will return, but for now all new pictures will show.

Ln X: I took you suggestion and am switching over to I.S. so new pictures will show.

Benedict: Hey thanks, and yeah I for some reason love the painted desert, I know it's not really LA terrain but I can't let it go. And looks great in my sandbox play.

coolwiththecool2: Thanks, glad to see you stopped by!

Schriefer: Thanks means a lot, and the next update is now!

Ceafus 88: Industrial is awesome, even more when it's mixed with residential (IMO), and thanks for saying that on my Seaports. I normally NEVER make them so it's a big milestone for me.

    ------------

    UPDATE

    ------------

Thanks for the welcoming support guys, it does mean a lot. Also, thanks for baring with me as I switch over pictures. At least all new ones will show. Here is my downtown!

    rl6z.png

We start of with the Statue of Life, generously built by the Mc Manor Group across the street from them. Many protested saying it wasn't right removing the ferry terminal forcing commuters across the bridge. But with the city in a budget crunch and Mc Manor Group footing the bill to widen Main St & Beach Blv, the motion was passed.

    3xxz.png

Downtown Long Beach has some high rises of it's own, not quite as tall as Los Angeles downtown but impressive non the less. When Los Angeles and Long Beach agreeded to a subway/rail line to better connect more residents moved to the downtown. Sparking a sudden burst of cheap and mid-highrises. Most major businesses are along PCH 1 (The 6 Lane Avenue).

    sr4d.png

The above ground portion of the rail line connects directly to the industrial sector as well as Grove. Thousands of people use it daily.

    32gn.png

PCH 1 briefly turns into a highway here as it serves as a quick route to this side of the harbor, near by neighborhoods, downtown, and access to the Harbor Bridge. This is how it looks after it was reconstructed. Buildings and roads were lost, as you can see main diagonal roads used to be through here.

    xpjr.png

Long Beach once had two sky scrapers that are no longer with the city, point tower was as tall as the Union Bank building! A horrible fire and earth quake devastated the building two days after it opened. The circle looking one eventually fell as water pipes from the earth quake caused the foundation to eventually give way. 578 people in total lost their lives. And left the area with abandonment.

    vrdk.png

Years latter some growth replaced the old buildings and a law was made to limit the height of new buildings. Efforts have been made to bring the area new life.

    k5pr.png

Flash back to when the mega building was being built.

    1n0v.png

This is where PCH 1, goes to the Harbor Bridge (Left), and people returning home to either downtown or Las Burros. Unfortunately because of space limits anyone wishing to take PCH 1 to downtown from here has to use the local bypass.

    l7ne.png

The local bypass didn't open to traffic until a year after, commuters were not happy...

    5aap.png

One of the newest addition to the downtown is the Hexagon Royal Hotel (Right).

    -----------

    BONUS

    -----------

I need to name this bridge, I just call it the Harbor Bridge but I need to name it, so suggest a name, any name and it could be your suggestion that wins!

    cumd.png

Thanks for coming and hope you liked it!

    Nice update!

I'm not good with names, but Incredible-Beautiful-Schriefer Bridge is a good one

The night shots are my favorite!!! :) Everything looks amazing, I like the Emerald Plaza by Cockatoo in there, one of my favorite buildings on the STEX. :)

1 tip: Use the cheat console (ctrl-x) and type in TastyZots so that any zots, like the no car access, and no jobs zots, are removed for better pictures. :)

As for the bridge name, I think Ceafus Memorial Bridge is a fantastic name.

You could always go with "Spencer V. Cortelyou Memorial Bridge", honouring the engineer who built Los Angeles' first freeway (the Arroyo Seco Parkway).

Just left Rio de Mayo Cayo Coco Islands in Trinidad and Landed in Los Angeles on the Airman-15 Private Jet!  Good to be back home, but I had fun in my visits to the other cities!  Ahhh nothing like good Los Angeles cuisine!   Badaga Bay and home town  not far from here, I'll spend some time visiting family and friends  here, then must be moving on.

Like your city Mayor Markus!  You run a clean, well organzed Simunicipality!  I must learn from your experience!

Schriefer: Thanks glad you liked it. Haha, that is a good name just a bit of a mouth full for the Sims (and me)!
Ceafus 88: Hey thanks! Yeah it's not San Diego but it fits well I think. I forget about that Zots cheat, thanks for the tip! Very orginal name you suggested :P
ThirtyThree: Thanks, I get a little better each verson of NAM. lol I'm confused cause the name has a question mark and an explnation mark!
Titanicbuff: Hm... not bad, also reminds me of Grand Theft Auto.
edwardjeria: Don't know who he is, but good suggestion.
JessiLaurn: Oh, good history to it. Though I also dislike him because his designs of effective traffic flow gave way to mostly highways and little mass transit. :P
City Boss: An old school buff I see. Good suggestion.
Borgmästarjojje: Phelps Bridge, not a bad ring to it.
SimRico: Welcome back! Thank you, I wouldn't go as far as well organized but thank you :D
    city89: Wouldn't it be L.A.B.B :P

    AND THE WINNER IS

    Titanicbuff!

With his suggestion of: "The San Andreas Bridge"

Congrats, the signs were changed at night when traffic was less busy.

But that's not all! You won yourself a trip to Las Vegas NV to stay at the Suncoast! Enjoy a 3 night stay, all expense paid vacation!

    UPDATE

    ------------

So interestingly enough I'm working on two Los Angeles's at the same time. How is that possible? Well I have one connected to Long Beach I've been slowly growing and it's coming around. However, to really get the freeways and such I just can't do it with all the hills and natural river. So I'm building another that is (unfortunately) all flat but I'm making maximum use out of the RHW and have come up with an amazing interchange of where the I-5, I-10, 60, & 101 freeways meet. As always it's not an exact replica just my interpretation of it. My only rule was no sharp point turns and make it as tight a possible. By that I mean all are smooth curves. Also it was my first time making use of the new NAM with the different heights (though LVL 4 doesn't work for me).

First, 101 - I-10 this is where it crosses the river and runs alongside the downtown.

    0bmt.png

Thanks to the new FAR pieces I was able to make this link

    60 Ends/Starts Here, Right to the I-10, I-5, Straight 1-10, 101

    7an3.png

A bit of quick weave but here is a critical switch as drivers either can stay on the 10 (left) or the 101 (right)

    pthk.png

I-5, I-10 Meet here, it's also a partial interchange (in real life)

    j0fq.png

I-5 can merge to the 60 (right), go straight to run into the 101, merge onto the I-10 or stay on I-5 [Confused?]

    713m.png

    Lastly the link for I-10 to the 101, I-5, & 60.

    m2mi.png

Last one is a whole over view, and I cut parts out to help with loading size.

    z32a.png

So that is what I have done so far in the Flat Los Angeles. Next I'm going to work on the the downtown loop. Where the 101 meets the 110, and the 110 meets the 10 (Oh boy)

I'm so grateful for the NAM Team because of the new pieces there would of been no way for me to build this like I did. And it wouldn't even be possible to do LA at all, I've seen attempts I've thrown my hand into that pool before but always gave up realizing it just can't come even close but now things have changed a lot! Also if anyone can help with on how to make LvL 4 pieces show/work and RHW-8 RHW-10 turns work. Because there is only filer pieces for RHW 4 & 6 turns (why I used them only) and lasty how RHW Bridges work/appear. Thanks with that information making the stack interchange at 110 and 10 might be easier.

Thanks for the support, next update I'll show how the other Los Angeles is doing (funny saying that).

Also for some reason some of my pictures I buggy. I've re-uploaded, used different links, refreshed, I don't know. Might be an image shack thing?

    Comments, suggestions always welcome!

Nice CJ! I was wondering where did you get the sea walls you used in your city, they look pretty neat. :)

Crikey! That's one intricate highway network. But it would look even better with some buildings, flora and/or non-transportational elements of civilization.

I hope that area gets filled in soon!

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

    REPLIES

    -------------

Schriefer: Thank you I honestly got lost and confused I few times while making, had to re do it about 8 times.
jmsepe: Thank you! The sea walls I want to say jeronji (sorry if I miss spelt) they're on SC4Devotion, just type seawalls and you should spot them. And yeah that Highway gave me a headache too (lol)
Ln X: Buildings and other stuff are comming, this LA isn't growing so much "natrually" like the other tile. But I do got a picture to show some decorations ;)
data7: Thank you, and I'll see what I can do about that last picture Res.
    КaZZ: Thanks :)
jcroy96: Not so much, I drive their somewhat often, but I'm Riverside County about hour 30 away, or more depending on traffic.
IRE505: Yeah, scary thing is that it works!
Schulmanator: GPS often gets confused the 5/10/60 as they over lap at parts, to this day. :P
sim_link: Yeah a trip on the surface streets (lol), thank you!

    ------------

    UPDATE

    ------------

This update will be a little short, mostly to show the progress and direction I'm heading in until the next big update, though I may throw in a teaser or something as I start zoning and buildings come in (just have to see).

So this is my work on the LA River so far, I like how it is coming together. I'll finish it off with some plop able water. Also added the rail lines, and power lines.

    qk87.png

I figured out how to make an RHW6 bridge, found out it needed to be started with a Maxis Highway. This one seemed to "fit in" the most.

    klhj.png

As requested, here is a better quality picture of the entire interchange. I altered slightly a few ramps (see if you can spot those), and you can see the entire progress thus far.

    j4zi.png

So that's it, the next real update will come once I finish the freeway at the 101 and 110. And depending on progress or request I'll post a picture or two a long the way.

Thanks so much for your support guys, glad you like it!

    Until next time,

That's a nice use of grunge concrete to recreate LA styled viaducts.

Although this is a excellent interpretation of a convergence of several different freeways.. Your calling it the int 5 - int 10 - state hwy 60  interchange is a gross exaggeration, its impossible to make even with the new NAM

You're doing some great work here! Love the rail work. :D But what station is that in the far right? Is it even a station or is it something else? Looks great either way. :)
