-Thanks, and if you like road planning wait until I show the new graphs. Glad your first reply was here, hope to see you again!

"Great job! I'd HATE to commute there, though. :golly:"

-Thanks! Are you kidding? It's a great commute! Tons of confusing one way roads, congested freeways, and roads. It's a thing of beauty. :D

    JDRCRASH

"Not bad. Nice and dirty. :D"

-Hey thanks, defiantly LA, the most beautiful and ugly city I know.

    The Jazzmaster

    "Very well done!"

    -Thank you.

Wow, thanks for all the support fellows! Even made it on the top 10 List, but couldn't done it without the support of my viewers!

Alright, so on the first page "Simcitymaster12" mentioned I should highlight the University of Southern California... so I decided I would do that, with a bonus picture.

The top building, is the old building for advanced sciences. It is now the department of Cultural Studies/Physiology. It's a fully functional mental institution. The newly constructed Advanced Sciences building holds a rumored nuclear device.

Construction has begun on a new animal testing lab.

Hope you enjoyed, and if you plan on enrolling for the Fall 2012 semester, it's not too late!

Here is a bonus, The Staples Center!

    Daytime.

    LosAngeles-Nov10831344749038.png

    Night time.

Next time, it's going to be data views and graphs. I wanted to save those from when I filled in 90% build-able land, so it's a proper representation.

I also am slowly updating all intersections/roads I can with NWM, just time consuming.

Enjoy guys! If you like please leave a comment/rate helps tons, and it's all I ask for `\( ^_^)/`

First, thanks for all you wonderful people for stopping by, and the even more lovely people who took time to reply.

Sorry for the slowness guys, super busy getting Youtube set up, and bringing content on that, with some going to be Simcity stuff as well! So lots of good stuff coming, I'll still be bringing some updates here as well, no worries!

But for tonight, it's just some replies, and the updates will come latter today after I have sleep.

And I'll get back into the swing of the other CJ's too, but man it's hard, I see a whole front page of all new updates, very hard! but I'll get on em!

Stay beautiful people, see you soon (9 hours -ish?)

    09/03/12

    [it's almost my birthday 08/08/12]

School, work, some family members passing away (all at once), and other life goodness (sarcasm). Happened that same night as my last post... so after getting life back in order, I am able to return to a semi-normal retinue.

Anyway, here are those data views I long since promised. I feel that for the next update might be fair to just post what you all want to see for the long wait. So whatever you want to see, just request it and if I built it... I'll be happy to show it.

    LosAngeles-Jul1841344749953.png

Here is my Layout of zones for this map, pretty well mixed.

    LosAngeles-Jun1841344749858.png

Congestion is strong downtown, but not too bad else where... wait that's strange, something is not right. Let's see the volume.

    LosAngeles-Jun7841344749877.png

Ah-Ha! That's more like it! Traffic on the freeways is very heavy, even around the entire Downtown Loop (and who said they don't work like real life in Simcity).

    LosAngeles-Aug17841344750054.png

What's funny is as the city was growing, every time i built a new undeveloped area with new roads/highway the traffic went down, but as it developed traffic spiked back up, It wasn't until I ran out of room it started to level off.

    LosAngeles-Nov10731344638183.png

When Car Pollution, Garbage, and Industrial Pollution combine their powers they Form Captain... Er, Los Angeles...

    LosAngeles-Oct31731344638157.png

Smog was out of control, bad enough it was downgrading buildings in the Downtown area...

    LosAngeles-Mar26741344638266.png

With all the money I saved, I did the ordinance. I have all my funding at max for everything and still racked up profit. Though, I should buy more power from Pasadena... I might plop some land marks and bulldoze them just to drain that huge surplus.

As always, thanks for the support guys.

I'm also working on my youtube channel, it will feature a lot of different things, but when Simcity comes out, it will have a heavy focus on that. What's funny is Los Angeles reminded of Raccoon City, so I wanted to build something Umbrella like. Well couldn't do it in Simcity, so did on Minecraft (lol)

You've had a tough month. I hope things are looking better for you now. Your maps do look quite realistic. That's quite a bit of pollution -- smog is in the air.

Firstly i would like to say props on going anti~grid around those trench areas, it looks real nice.

Now- I have some concerns about the downtown in general. it seems like you place the industrial area and the main residential area on the same side of the CBD, meaning traffic doesn't necessarily have to go downtown to get to work- meaning that the traffic downtown isn't as high as it could be. yet your freeway loop system is still at maxed capacity. i'd be real interested in seeing what type of traffic is actually on that freeway ( freight or car).

As for your next update. I noticed there are mountains in the upper left corner of that map. it'll be cool as heck to get away from some of the flatlands and start seeing some bedroom communities up in the hills. possibly beverl- errr, i mean... Sim- erly hills?

( If not- then just get back to the freeways. im also interested in seeing what's going to have to be upgraded with RHW and what can stay maxis)

    Cheers, Richard!

    -----------------------------------------------

    WELCOME TO LONG BEACH, CA

    -----------------------------------------------

After many hosptial trips and other problems dealing with my Cystic Fibrosis and going to be moving at the end of the month things have been not to good, but this game brings me a type of peace and it's why I still play. Hope you enjoy what I've been working on.

Moving away from Los Angeles (Downtown), for various reasons we move to Long Beach. The city on the beach, the is most know for being home to the Port of Los Angeles! Birty water, and dirty beaches are a normal here because of the industry, ships, trash, and just general polution. But if you can look all past that it is a nice city, here is my verson on it.

Side note, this is one of the first cities I've really have built that's not 100% flat. In my opinion I'm not good with water, or building on hills. So this was a BIG challenge for me, hope you like it and has a little bit of realsim to it.

    t49l.png

We begin here with the humble start (first picture I decided to take), you can see Long Beach is a decent sized city with a growing insturial port and downtown. There is still farm land and lots of open space.

    1two.png

Looking here some major power lines transfer power from the Bola Oil Power Plant, very importaint lines as they run to Downtown Los Angeles as well. Pacific Coast Highway (1) (PCH 1) Can be seen on the right, but locals in this area call it the Truck Expressway as most trucks use it to drive to the ports. I'm still working which is why some gaps in the lower right.

    lptj.png

The power plant, and I left space around the power lines cause it seemed to make more sense to me. Anyone agree?

    9a2n.png

Here was one of the worst intersections I ever made... rail lines cross two busy roads (used to be two) in this horrible 6 way intersection. Traffic was backed up for miles. To the right is where the old Pacific Coast Highway (1) ran with a bridge to cross the Los Angeles River.

    evih.png

Here it is before it was torn down and replaced with this bridge, and the PCH (1) was moved down the river.

    ypjr.png

Easy for large ships to navigate, and provided a more direct route for people to travel to or from Downtown Long Beach.

    6ja8.png

Traffic sense this picture has gone up to about 1,000 cars plus 300 trucks.

    qeqi.png

    Bonus Night Picture

    j1si.png

Remember that horrible intersection? Well it was improved into this! With the help of a highway bypass and the moving of PCH1.

    k8zp.png

This is the old river "highway" very important connector for people as it is one of the only connectors. Problem being it cannot handle the large volume of traffic, funds were allocated and a highway bypass and neighborhood improvement was made.

    f4lp.png

First was making Hill St a proper interchange

    449t.png

Next was making a partial interchange to allow those heading straight to the port to have a direct access route with limited stops, and those going to Grove (Incorporated city of Long Beach) have a easy access as well. This is rush hour heading home from the Port and Grove.

    p6ut.png

Next was to provide access to Industrial Rd with a partial interchange and allow those leaving industrial road to use the bypass.

    oywy.png

Then came Steel Road (right)  & Dry St (left), another partial interchange that served as a vital connector. Not demolishing major factories was a requirment for this interchange. The compromise to make this possible was no fly over access.

    9o83.png

Lastly the highway ends/starts at the intersection of Old Highway 1, this route saves up to 30 minutes of commute time for those heading to the port.

    h0q5.png

PCH 1 (Expressway at this point) gives trucks much needed relif through stops and access to ports D & E. It's a three lane road to save space and two lanes allow easier flow of trucks to the docks.

    ax8d.png

Trucks, and Ships are not the only was to move goods, this very congested shipping and receiving station for trains is just as important.

    uyl7.png

Bonus nighttime picture of the port and how it looks now.

That's it for now, next time I'll show the downtown and other parts. I also have a video showing all the improvements I did and I'm putting that together for anyone who enjoys those.

It's been fun playing again, take care everyone. Comments, suggestions, always welcome.

Next update is the downtown and all of it's changes and glory (Right side of the river)

I like your style; a mixture of Maxis RCI with NAM and other nifty mods. Good entry!

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

Alright, sorry about that the pictures should work now!

Some will be blocked until next month unfortunately but I will slowly get it fixed.

As a quick fix may I suggest you host pictures on ImageShack for the time being? Imageshack has no apparent bandwidth problems so you won't run afoul of them.
