And I'm slowly getting back to SimCity 4--given the changes on the NAM, I'm now ready to delve in-depth with the Real Highway Mod.  Here's some directional T interchanges (2 shots of a first attempt, 3rd shot of another attempt):

What the bejeezus Maarten?! I mean I knew you could break the grid with regular roads, but that?

Actually, Noah (noahclem) built this monster of an interchange. I just decorated it with CPs, trees, streetlights and signage and oh, just built everything else around the interchange so it doesn't look like it's in the middle of nowhere.

But wait! There's more at where that came from: https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=15529.msg465506#msg465506

Just finished this bridge mania interchange. God cosmetic pieces and overpasses DO NOT mix well at all! (That's why one tile is un-cosmetisized!)

I will edit this post after I finish beautification however the city will not surround it as that is very far away from where I am developing.

What a difference 5 years makes! The interchange itself has hardly been touched. If I were to rebuild it I would run into a lot of reverts / compatibility issues because it was made with RHW 2.0.

EDIT: 2008 video of the interchange, one of my first UDI Videos!

Perhaps I'll do a remake (in HD).

Hey dude, I watched your video mere hours after you posted it, actually I thought it turned out much better than what I first assumed it would. Looked real good in the end, and it's a great example that with all the options available, you can get something to work and that you like. You just gotta stay at it and put your head to it

Well I though this was good besides the fact that there is no Access to one side of the highway from the avenue.

That parclo now has lots of use. Nice feeling to know what you built is actually working. (No traffic generators)

It usually happens the other way. You spend hours and days building a realistic and fancy RHW network, where you have thought in absolutely all the details... and Sims keep using and clogging roads.

Congratulations! Not only because your design, but because it gets actual usage...

That only ever happens if you're not using the up-to-date NAM Traffic Simulator.

Or if you build the highway in a poor spot.  I've definitely had that problem.  It's tempting to build belt-loop style highways that go around your downtown, but of course they serve no purpose in the world of SC4.

Here is my newest interchange: A cloverstack surronded on three sides by development(And I hope to start developing the forth side soon); it's where the region's two main highways(1 and 2) meet up, and also where 1 splits into express-collector lanes; in the future I might widen both highways if traffic increases due to development:

Looks like you have sufficient room to make your loop ramps a little larger, that would make them a lot more realistic!

The rest of the interchange looks quite nice! :)

Nothing particularly fascinating here, just a before/after shot of an interchange in my current region (of course made in the new NAM).

    First off, the before shot:

    NorthshoreWest-15Aug151377720650_zps17f0

I know this is a complete atrocity, it was just built as a placeholder for later, and I felt like trying to make a kind of rotary interchange. Suffice to say, I was never that pleased with the result.

    And after:

    InterchangeNorthshoreWest_zps27b9fb14.pn

It's just a simple parclo interchange, but should still be able to handle the light amount of traffic that uses it. While only taking half an hour to an hour to build, I originally built a cloverleaf (which took all night!), but then demolished it as it took up way too much room and just didn't look right.

Well, I got there in the end :)

I love looking at everyone's pictures here for inspiration.

What do you all think of this, will it work?
