Ok I've tried to make some interchanges.

It's harder than it looks.

A basic cloverleaf already takes up a whole medium city tile and a normal connection with a road just fits within a small tile.

Luckily there is the drawpaths command.

This is what I've made:

Entrance and exit lanes.

I hope the next RHW comes with elevated RHW (6) which can pass over RHW 8.

Narrow interchange.

Feeder lanes would fix a lot of that problem:

But for something really tight... drop the splitters and use a single lane.

And for giggles, another CS1.8

Preview of a large sort of ringroad/interchange I am working on:

Plus an overall view:

The last image is just meant to be an overview of the general interchange/roundabout shape. I took the screenie prior to adding details seen in the first screenie. As well, the buildings in the core will be replaced with ultra-tall highrises; building up, way up instead of out. The lots for those buildings are all done in Lot editor. Enjoy the pictures!

Just another Cityscape 5-way interchange :P

5way_Overview.jpg

5way_1.jpg

The picture of my region in my last post seems to have raised some questions:

Where did you get that map mod showing the RHW!? Or is it that you took the time to highlight all of the ramps and carriageways with some other tool?

its buggi's extra cheats mod found here.

just unzip it to your plugins folder, run the game, press crtl+ x, right click the bar, select "draw paths" and press enter [ it shows you the direction of which way traffic has to travel ]

sorry for going off topic

I'm afraid you're wrong guys. Usually, you cannot see the RHW in the region view, it was an unsolved bug until some months ago, when somebody created a mod to make RHW visible in region view. You can find it here [link]. It makes RHWs appear drawn in black, I guess the user has just painted them green... Just an speculation, though.

For the region view shown in this post, I made indeed use of the 'drawpaths' cheat. As iowndiscti stated, this can be done with the extra cheat dll. Just activate the cheat and save the game. The paths will then be shown in both regional views (transportation map and satellite view).

If you don't want the paths to show anymore, just reload the game and save it again without the cheat.

The textures on the highways in CS look just like the RHW textures. Where can you download the Cityscape Demo?

Where can you download the Cityscape Demo

I don't think it's online anywhere anymore. I think the new company couldn't make a profit with it.

I managed to get the Cityscape 1.8 demo. It was an Autodesk demo from February 2010, but this was the first interchange I made on this version:

94michigan.png

It is a recreation of the I-94 and Michigan Avenue (U.S. 12) interchange in Dearborn, MI.

Wow, where'd you get it?

I found it via Google. I can't tell you the exact site though. But I do know the demo was split in three parts.

I know I'm double-posting; but I managed to recreate a portion of Pittsburgh.

Just one interchange today. I've changed the highway off to the right a little (it was a little too close to the edge for the next city over), but the main part is still the same.

cliffinterchange1.jpg

the 90° turn on the elevated part... what size is it? 2x2? if so, where do I find it? I only find one with a wider radius

I can't. always end up with a suddenly ending elevated mip and a normal rhw continuing in the direction of the turn thats why I am stuck with the wider radius puzzle piece

well, here's one of mine, the reason why I actually wondered about the 90° turn and - since I wasn't able to get it the way I wanted it on the space available - after a couple hrs of experimenting around on site and on an experimental area, in the final version a totally different intersection than I had in mind, but still a nice one I guess:

ints.jpg

maybe some explanation:

the rail line running left-right runs directly alongside the boarder of the city tile and the avenue which goes left-right to then intersect with the (also l-r running) highway lies just next to a steep slope I edited out to reduce confusion as it is an artificial slope for a reason, which left me with a total of 9 tiles width and due to the curve of the highway which is also a limiting fix (as it runs parallel to the continued slope mentioned already) only a couple tiles in length.

Initially, the area was the same length but only like 6-ish tiles wide but that left me with no options but butt-ugly ones, so I was forced to sacrifice a few more tiles of land to give way to a better looking but still space limited intersection.

the result as you can see looks fair imho and still blends in very well with the (not shown) surounding area.
