SimRico    But you CAN eat Belgian waffles!

Hester    It's a brave new world... lots of new faces here. Though I would like to see the old ones come back now and then...

Lyhoko Leaci    Indeed! Some things were envisioned from Day 1 and hints have been dropped all along. Though the slow unveiling has lost many hints in the cyber sands of time... I suppose the nekos would have their own league. They could compete with the humanoids but I doubt they could stand up to the power of the claws for long...

NMUSpidey    You can get tix half off from our friendly scalpers!

SimRico    I TAWT I TAW A TWEETY BIRD!

    simlink    Nope! :D

    Hester    Hehehe!

SimRico    The Cone is a powerful thing!

    jmsepe    Rock on!

    airman15    Hehehe!

SimRico    Poor Alf would never stand a chance...

    Hester    Done!

    bakercity    Done!

    Benedict    Thanks!

    Lyhoko Leaci    Me neither...

SimRico    The Cone is NOT a fashion statement to be taken lightly!

    Tonraq    Done!

    Hester    Done!

Benedict    Awesome! Free pouches of Friskies Party Mix for all!

Hester    Contact your local realtor today.

Lyhoko Leaci    Automated Fancy Feast dispensers would be the greatest invention ever! Purr for your dinner!

NMUSpidey    The audio purr was what we had in mind. But, purr denominated Fancy Feast vending machines is a GREAT idea! Now, back to the lab!

Lyhoko Leaci    DOH! A defective copy-paste. Fixed it now.

2014 State Visit to Belize and Guatemala

The Government of Schulmania and the Bureau of Feline Affairs are pleased to announce a high level state visit by a feline delegation headed by Archduke Bower and Princess Ava to our feline friends and constituents in Belize and Guatemala in July 2014. The visit to Central America is sponsored by the Feline Trade Council, the Bureau of Feline Affairs High Commission for International Feline Affairs and the Bureau of Feline Affairs High Commission for Feline Culture and Heritage. Why Belize and Guatemala? This area is the heartland of the Mayan culture. The Mayans are a pro-feline society  whose contributions to science and culture are manifold and enduring. Let's see how feline have been celebrated in Mayan culture.

    barcelo-maya-tropical.jpg

    277360_2.jpg

Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the jaguar in Mesoamerican society: The representation of jaguars in Mesoamerican cultures has a long history, with iconographic examples dating back to at least the mid-Formative period of Mesoamerican chronology. The jaguar (Panthera onca) is an animal with a prominent association and appearance in the cultures and belief systems of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican societies. Quick, agile, and powerful enough to take down the largest prey in the jungle, the jaguar is the largest of the big cats in the Americas, and one of the most efficient and aggressive predators. Endowed with a spotted coat and well adapted for the jungle, hunting either in the trees or water, making it one of the few felines tolerant of water, the jaguar was, and remains, revered among the indigenous Americans who live closely with the jaguar.

    this-ceramic-sculpture-representing-jagu

Integration of the jaguar into the sacred and secular realms of the Maya is proven in the archaeological record. The Maya, whose territory spanned the Yucatán Peninsula all the way to the Pacific coast of Guatemala, was a literate society who left documentation of their lives (mostly the lives of the aristocracy) and belief system in the form of bas-relief sculpture on temples, stelae, and pottery. Often depicted on these artifacts are the gods the Maya revered and it is no coincidence that these gods often have jaguar attributes. As stated earlier, the jaguar is said to have the ability to cross between worlds, and for the Maya daytime and nighttime represented two different worlds. The living and the earth are associated with the day, and the spirit world and the ancestors are associated with the night. As the jaguar is quite at home in the nighttime, the jaguar is believed to part of the underworld; thus, "Maya gods with jaguar attributes or garments are underworld gods". One such god is Xbalanque, one of the Maya Hero Twins who descended to the underworld, and whose entire body is covered with patches of jaguar skin. Another is God L, who is "the primary lord of the underworld" and often is shown with a jaguar ear or jaguar attire, and atop a jaguar throne. Not only is the underworld associated with the ancestors, but it also is understood as, where plants originate. In addition, the Maya's source of fresh water comes from underground pools in the porous limestone that makes up the Yucatán, called cenotes. These associations with water and plants further reinforce the notion of the jaguar as a god of fertility.

The jaguar is further associated with vegetation and fertility by the Maya with what is known as the Waterlily jaguar, which is depicted as having water lilies sprouting from its head.

    balam14.JPG

No doubt, the jaguar's brilliant coat made it quite desirable, however, not all were allowed to don the jaguar pelt as it became the identification of the ruling class for the Maya. Not only did Maya kings wear jaguar pelts, but they also adopted the jaguar as part of their ruling name, as a symbol of their might and authority. One such ruling family to incorporate the jaguar into their name is known as, Jaguar Paw, who ruled the Maya city of Tikal in the fourth century. Jaguar Paw I was ousted by central Mexicans from Teotihuacán, and it was not until late in the fifth century that the Jaguar Paw family returned to power. Other Maya rulers to incorporate the jaguar name include, Scroll Jaguar, Bird Jaguar, and Moon Jaguar, just to name a few (Coe 1999: 247-48). In addition to the ruling class, the jaguar also was associated with warriors and hunters. Those who excelled in hunting and warfare often adorned themselves with jaguar pelts, teeth, or claws and were "regarded as possessing feline souls".

    Tepeyollotl-Codex-Telleriano-Remensis.jp

Archeologists have found a jar in Guatemala, attributed to the Maya of the Late Classic Era (600-900 AD), which depicts a musical instrument that has been reproduced and played. This instrument is astonishing in at least two respects. First, it is the only stringed instrument known in the Americas prior to the introduction of European musical instruments. Second, when played, it produces a sound virtually identical to a jaguar's growl. A sample of this sound is available at the Princeton Art Museum website.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

    Central Mookimia: Katzenschloß

The Central Mookimia District hosts several towns and is bisected by a large, strategic body of water. A rocky outcrop, the Schloßberg, houses a castle. The castle, Katzenschloß, is the seat of power for the district government. And it's pretty cool too. The governor has a home and office in the castle and most government functions for the district are conducted here. The Mookimia Turnpike offers transit connections to the port of Purkeyluo to the north and Franzikoi District to the south as well as direct east-west travel across the region. Doi Agaa is a cluster of homes and businesses surrounding the Schloßberg. Doi Agaa is well known for its famous canine-feline sports event: the Great Squirrel Chase. Cats and dogs compete to see who is best at chasing squirrels up the Schloßberg. Winners get ribbons and all participants get shirts. Of course, dogs will wear shirts. But I wish you luck getting one on a cat! (Most cats will sleep on them though if they are properly placed in the corner of the couch.)

Katzenschloß has opened a field office for the Directorate of Avian Affairs. There is much speculation (and perhaps a bit of concern) concerning the sudden influx of flocks of mockingjays in the area. The feline residents do not find them tasty but do find them hard to catch. Their other unique properties have some concerned that the birds may be a part of a Queensferry plot to destabilize the Schulminion interior. Only time will tell...

Katzenschloß houses offices for many government agencies. The Bureau of Feline Affairs, the city mint, Catnip Comptroller's Office and the Ministry of Silly Walks all can be found here, amongst many others.

The view from the Ministry of Silly Walks' window is grand!

The Bureau of Feline Affairs and the mint occupy the first floor. A vault inside the castle walls stores the gold and silver used in minting.

The mockingjays are roosting in this forest. Anyone got any recipes for them?

    doi15_zps50a748fd.jpg
Freiherr Jakob von Hallen just bought the house next to the church. He's the new office manager for the Ministry of Silly Walks. You should see him commute to work!

Looking to visit scenic Doi Agaa? Try the Doi Agaa Lodge, located here on the corner. Every room has great room service, including a catmint on your pillow daily.

From atop the Schloßberg you can get some serious distance with a paper airplane!

Many of the homes at the base of the Schloßberg are owned by government workers or support staff. One apartment building, the Wirdle's Paws, is rented by the Bureau of Feline Affairs for its workers.

There's plenty of commerce with vibrant locally owned shops

The Tabby Baron lives here, across the street from the church. He's sort of like the Red Baron, but cuter and furrier.

Ondrej Košice operates the local apothecary. Next door to his business is Jonah's Whale Accessories.

As you can see, the Katzenschloß is truly the hub of a bustling community!

I LOVED the Wirdle Paws Apartments.  I would absolutely stay THERE when I visit regardless of the tempting catmint on pillows elsewhere in the grand hotel!  And I imagine there is a pile of great airplane paper available near the Schlosburg so visitors may make and fly their planes?

Looks like they need to invest in coffee stabilization technology at the Ministry of Silly Walks...

An apothecary that isn't Leech Apothecary? Does Schulmania have anti-monopoly regulations?

Looks good, can't wait for more!

In other news, I had a dream that Queensferry was complaining that I was supporting Schulmania...
