What are you basing the nightlighting on? I have not seen many pictures of this building at night.

my own gusto :) I didnt find any night references and I think a neon outline fits this building type well

This is about the only image I could find and this is just a conceptual drawing. I think I prefer what you have come up with.

Ohh, neon, it always makes buildings with special shapes to be 'rightly dressed' for the night, so this is definitely an improvement even from the real building!!

I like it, the mullions are maybe a touch bright but I like it nevertheless. If you're going to amend perhaps a softer light on the mullions or bring in some of that purple hue seen on the outer rim

I quite like the neons lights, they are really nice especially for this kind of building.

For the windows, I would be in favor to do interior ligthing, self illuminated ceiling or flooring, it gives more depth to the building but it's more complex to do as it requires to model and do partition of the interiors.

Anyway, really good job as usual :)

I think the panel lines could use some tweaking. On the tower they look ok, although I would personally make them thinner and slightly darker. On the bottom part though they're definitely too thick.

It also seems like the roof patio pavers are strangely blue during the day (yes I'm still getting caught up with the day version *:P). idk if they're so reflective that they're reflecting the sky, or if the textures have a blue hue to them

The nitelites look really nice, and the curved shape of the tower is good for reflecting things. I agree with Girafe that modeling the interior (at least for the front and back, textures would work better for the smaller windows on the sides) would look better, but I do think they look quite nice as they are now.

Overall, it's not often this type of building gets BATed at all, let alone this good. *:)

Thanks :-) Can you enlighten me how you use "self illuminated ceiling or flooring"? I've done interior lighting once, which was GT Tower and a mix of disaplcement maps to create geometry plus random maps layed over the geometry, light up by normal lights.

Thanks :-) I agree on the panel lines on the lower part. The upper would be less close to original if I make them darker.

I don't understand what you mean with blueish "roof patio pavers", can you explain?

About interior nightlights, I was contemplating it, but was waiting if someone was mentioning it or not. Challenge accepted :D

Well as before and after shots go, the difference between textured and modelled interiors is like night and day, err night?! I certainly prefer to model the interior where practical, but it can be a lot of extra work, especially on this scale. But it improves the model so dramatically I'm glad you've opted for this route.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Yes, the modeled interior really makes a huge difference. This is going to be BAT of the year I think.

Sorry I thought I replied but I think maybe I didn't press reply or something.

Anyway, the pavers that are on the roof of the base (where all the trees and stuff are). It seems like maybe the reflectivity of the paver material is too high. Unless the stone is meant to be really polished looking.

Wow, that's some 1337 sauce, yummy!

Are you planning to leave that grey modeled ground there? Just wondering how the ground would interact with different sidewalk mods / base textures.

It's amazing the jobs you create. I can not wait to see another building in New York City. It would be wonderful to see you create Bank Of America, 4 Times Square or some other iconic buildings. Great job with this Dubai wonder!

I'm salivating for this...  Can't wait to place this next to 53 West 53rd tower you last gave us.  The two will compliment each other well.

Thanks :) looking forward to see that

Haha, I actually had to look up 1337 Sauce :8) nice one

Hm, yea that was the plan. Can you elaborate and maybe give an example of how this could be an issue? You mean if someone wants to lot the building with ground textures they prefer?

Hmm.. I seriously must have a 3D printed version of this to sit on my desk!!!

I absolutely love the details of the roof top gardens and plazas, so intricate and delicate.. astounding job.

Yes, exactly. If you look at the last picture (back side), you'll notice some weird shadow beginning from the third column from the left - a fundamental problem with BATted ground. You'll also notice how the planter props you put up right next to the building cannot cast a shadow on the BATted ground.

Now, these are really minor issues, although they are avoidable. You'll see how the textures match rather well, however: the grey of the base texture and the grey of the BATted ground are similar enough to help BAT and lot blend into one another. Now image the same scene for someone who uses the SMP sandstone sidewalk mod, or the Copacabana sidewalk. There will be quite a visible rupture, and BAT and lot will look somewhat disconnected.

There is not the perfect solution for all cases, and BATted ground does have its advantages, but it also causes the problems outlined above. You'll probably have to leave it around the front because of those embedded mosaic tiles and planters. Meh, I guess in this case it's hard to do without the BATted ground anyway.
