Well, somewhere in the last few days my post-count went over 40K.  Still running about 10% reputation, thanks, folks.

Hahaha. I won't probably reach that high but I am happy to have 100 reps now! Thank you everyone for giving those. :D

Especially to Ln X for giving the 100th rep.

Changed it to a nice, possibly prime, number for you.  All those zeros are so boring.

2001 can't be prime, since the sum of the individual digits add up to three, ergo I can divide the same number by three.

I didn't know that test.  Always good to learn something new.  Is there a proof somewhere?

Here. I also just noticed that I passed 300 posts. Not bad for a lurker.

The proof, btw, is a bit dense if you're not used to the terminology. Sound, sure, but you might need to do some back reading to process it fully.

Gad.  I haven't looked at one of those since I was in high-school.  Interesting that you knew it.  How many of these rules do you know off the top of your head?

Divisibility rules... I eat this lot during high school days. Good thing studying mathematics won't let me forget about this one! :)

Well, the proof I don't know. Had to look it up, though it was interesting to read. The rule for divisibility? Well, 2, obviously, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10...Once you know the first ones, the rest become combinations when you're looking to divide by composite numbers. Apparently there is a rule for dividing 7 (I had thought there wasn't until I looked up the proof for you on Wikipedia), but it's so convoluted there might as well not be one.

Interestingly enough, for the powers of 2, notice that the last digit has to be divisible by 2 for 2^1. The number formed from the last two digits must be divisible by 4 for the number to be divisible by 4, which interestingly means the given number is divisible by 2^2.

e.g. 5684 is divisible by 2 (even number), divisible by 4 because 4 divides 84, but not divisible by 8, because 8 doesn't divide 684 evenly.

I really only know those. They're kinda basic, and similar to each other (cf. rules for 3 and 9) and really handy for algebra, calculus, etc. when you're trying to find convenient numbers in equations, so it's worth the time to know (for me, at least).

Math teacher ei? Most of time, people tend to forget these already because they don't use it in daily life anymore.

Speaking of which, I totally became a CITIZEN of Simtropolis today... :D

The journey of 40,000 posts begins with a single mouse click.

For most of us began even before clicking. Seeing pics on the internet and thinking: "What are those cool buildings/mods I'm seeing?! I want them!" You register, have two or three download drills on the STEX, lurk a bit on the forums, post a couple of shy comments... The rest is history for some of us.

Heh. While it would be awesome if there were an internal site function that I could pull that sort of stuff from, there is not. I recorded the data points for date and post count manually based on when Larks announced his milestones in this thread, and then calculated the ppd by dividing the difference in count by the difference in date.

There's no staff magic here, just persistent observation. :} Anyone could have put that together if they saw fit to make the effort.

I now have. 1.4 MILLION POSTs.

On a more legit note, I also passed the 2,000 point reputation mark a little while ago, which means my post to rep ratio is severely disproportionate [with my points higher than posts, in case your wondering and reading this on April Fools] :)
