About This File

It's time to add variety to your tourists and your business travelers and where they stay. This set of hotels and motels contains over 100 different variations over 10 separate models. The lots are CS$ and CS$$ (plans for the future include a CS$$$ set). Hotel branding changes so frequently that I figured there needed to be a set of new hotels.

Released

During the file reorganization to 2.0, I had forgotten three models: Red Carpet Inn, Magnuson Inn and Jameson Inn. This is fixed now.

Also, the archive has changed to a .7z archive to get a much smaller file size. To open, use WinRAR or 7Zip.

Thanks to @smf_16 for finding this issue!

There will probably be a v2 at some point with improved roof textures on some buildings but it won’t be for a little bit.

Is it me or there are missing roof textures on models 3 - Standard Mid Range and 5 - Two Floor Extended Stay. Is it because of this?:

Also, why are these landmarks and not commercial?

I thought a flatter, one color roof texture would look good, and it looked good until it didn't. That's why I'm making v2 versions of them. I have Model 3 redone and am working on Model 5.

As for some of the landmark only ones I need to teach myself how to do a commercial beyond 6 tiles. Those were my two concerns with this set.

@Zasco the roof textures are updated. The reason they looked like that in the first place is that I did a texture opacity thing on top of a flat color and it’s something I wanted to try which would give me more control on Gmax and less editing on Photoshop for my work flow lol.

I went back to a 90% opacity. I have a trip in a few weeks, but I may do some more slight updates in December to this file like more variations of roof textures.

Thanks. I updated my sc4pac channel accordingly. I haven't checked it out however...

No, thank you! Having constructive feedback is so important when you’re doing these uploads of 80-100 building packs that are essentially like releases from a Warholesque art factory.

Somethings wrong with the archive. When I try unpacking it I get errors.

It's fine on my end, but it could be the way I compressed it.

I travel next week, leaving Wednesday but I can try to work on it before then.

I just changed out the zip file to one with a (1) in the file name. I think I did a different compression with the other one so try redownloading again. I got the extraction to work on both my laptop and my phone.

if it doesn’t work, I may have to split the files in two ie do Models 1-5 in one file and models 6-10 in a separate upload.

It's still happening.

Hi there!

I was able to successfully extract both the last .zip file and this new one with no issues. We don't know anything about your system or the actual error code you're seeing, but as for me I'm on Windows 11 and I generally use WinRAR to extract files from Simtropolis. Never had a problem. I did try using Windows' built-in Extract function and still didn't have any trouble. Is it possible that the folder or drive you're trying to extract to is set to read-only or has some other security restriction on it? If you click "Hints about the error", does it give you anything actionable? Is your Internet connection decently stable? Is the file maybe getting flagged by antivirus? There are lots of things it could be. But since I didn't have any issues, I can't say with any kind of certainty that there's anything wrong with the zip file that PC could do anything to fix.

Hi I'm having a bit of trouble with these - downloaded all dependencies twice but still can't get the underlying base parking textures to appear for all of these - it is only a grass texture with parking lines and cars on - anyone who might know what's going wrong?

Thanks!  Love these, want to use all of them.

Hello! I believe this is a more accurate list of what is actually required on this lot.

In light of that, I'd probably recommend downloading these via sc4pac instead. Some of these dependency listings are unfortunately inaccurate, and when adding things to sc4pac we have some automated processes that can check what items are actually used on lots to produce a more accurate dependency listing. Plus sc4pac handles acquiring all these things for you anyways which is a plus.

It could be one of those files because I tried again and there appear to be more details on the lots now, so I filled in something!  But the asphalt where the cars park still looks like grass.

Make sure you have bsc:texturepack-cycledogg-vol01 and shk:parking-pack. After that I'm out of ideas. Sorry *:(

Once I finish my Toyota Dealers, I think I'm going to update my descriptions on my files to include that texture pack lol.
