About This File

This unadorned 2x2 Lot will display the hidden day-night game clock adding a new perspective to the goings-on in SimCity. Will be found in Parks Menu. Feel free to decorate it with the LotEditor and if its really good share it.

Time may be set to any hour with the whattimeizit h where h=0 to 23, cheat command.

Can be put anywhere in Plugins. All dependencies are in RVT Game Clock.dat (included).

Tech Notes:

SC4 operates with two player timescales, a calendar shown in the GUI and a unseen day-night clock, which operates at a steady rate regardless of game speed. The latter is used to show time dependent props (like parked cars that appear/disappear at a given time), and this mod uses 48 of them, one for each half-hour.

The clock isn't perfect and can sometimes show more than one time when SC4 fails to hide the previous prop before showing the next one - it may just be running out of time or it may be a rounding error.

While I haven't found way around this, it has proved quite useful for testing other things.

What a very useful mod for telling the in game clock's time~!

Easily worth a 5/5~!

Any chance of a variation that will snuggly fit into an Avenue roundabout?

Hahaha, this is great! What a surprise, too!

By the way, the in-game clock is not totally hidden. If you hover the mouse cursor over the displayed date, a little bubble showing the current time will pop up. :)

That's so neat... specially as I usually play with the day/night cycle off... :-)

Ingenious idea! Better than having to hover your mouse over the date/time to see it. :)

Now that's an off the wall mod.

Would be awesome if there was a way of making it part of a Clock Tower bat to fit into a city.

When I read the description in the STEX upload list I thought: this is a nifty deep diggin mod by Rivit. How did he manage to dig up this clock? But the use of the time dependent props.... I could have thought of it myself, But hey, that's what everyone says about paperclips, aspirin and the theory of gravity.

Only a true great minds thinks of things like this.

Thanks!

I'm also surprised that noone's thought to do this before, mainly because a lot of cities have a landscaped clock or sundial or similar in parks, though having one on a highly-viewed slope would also be conceivable.

I always play with day/night off. >.>
But this lot might have me interested in turning the cycles on!
Good job mate!
